      Memories of Scott, Saskatchewan
      1967

Mr. and Mrs. Gerein was both born in Russia and came to Canada at an early age. Mr. Gerein's maiden name was Silbernagle. The trip on boat and train were both a hardship for the Silbernagle's as they couldn't speak a word of English nor understand it. The trip across water took one month. Mrs. Gerein's brother used to live on the farm where Kasper Elder now lives. They came to Wilkie where her mother found work at the Del Hotel and Mrs. Gerein started school in the school that is still known as McLurg. Mr. and Mrs. Gerein farmed seven miles south of Scott until September 15, 1948, when they moved to Scott and took over the draying business from Joe Diebert. The Gerein's had 13 children all living and away from home expect Gabe who lives in Scott. Willie is at the coast and is now foreman at a Copper Smelting Co., and Charlie is with the Toronto Star.
