I was born the fifth child to Jacob and Margaret Weber, on December 21, 1926 at Scott hospital.

I received my schooling at East Prospect, Local Centre and Scott schools. I enjoyed my school days at Local Centre very much and have many fond memories of the school and district. We were very fortunate to have Miss Jessie Dunbar for our teacher -- firm but kind and loving and did a super job of teaching. We lived a mile or so from Local Centre School, which my two sisters, Katie Lena and I travelled on foot in the summer, then horse and sleigh in the winter when it was too cold to walk.

I enjoyed track and field meets. My long legs usually helped me to win a few ribbons for high jumping, racing, playing ball and throwing for accuracy (throwing a ball through a rubber tire, hanging at a distance of about 25 feet).

In the summer holidays we were usually kept busy helping with farm chores and the garden. I can recall, my two sisters and I stocking a 30 acre field of oats for a neighbour, for ten cents each day.

I worked at Scott for a while, then went to Wilkie and was employed at various homes, helping with the housework.

I met Mike Bretzer in 1947, and we were married in the fall, October 18, 1948. We farmed with Mike's folks, John and Elizabeth Bretzer and his two younger brothers, Adam and Liberatus, in the Sunny Glen District until 1958.

In 1956, Mike's parents and the rest of the family moved to Sandy Taylor farm (still in Sunny Glen district), while Mike and I stayed on, to farm the home place.

In 1958, we purchased the Jack Vollett farm in the Belton District and started farming on our own. This has been our home ever since.

We sold our land in the Sunny Glen district in 1972-1973 and bought the Victor Street farm in the Blue Bell District. We raise a number of cattle as well as our grain farming.
