      St. Francis Mission

      The church was first known was Ulrich's Parish because mass was held at the home of Jacob Ulrich and fathar Schweers came from Tramping Lake.

      The Parish Priest was Father Former in 1908 and in 1909, Father Palm was Parish Priest.

      In 1909, a church was built and name St. Francis. The church at Luseland was one of the first churches. It was made of wood at that time, the church benches were made by Mr. Kieler who also mad the coffins.

      First mass was prepared by following four ladies; Mrs. Roszlein Sr., Mrs. Germann, Mrs. Nick Zimmer Sr. and Mrs. Rasche with her daugther, Elizabeth.

      St. Francis was a mission of Grosswerder.

      The parish Priest was Father Guth from 1910-1919. A double Wedding was preformed by Father Guth: Mr. & Mrs. Martin Roszlein and Mr. & Mrs. Tom Rambold. The marriage took place on January 29, 1917.

      From 1914 to 1932, St. Francis was the mission of Kerrobert.

      Father Schwebius was the pastor from 1920-22 and then Father Kohler from 1922 to 1927.

      A purchase of an old school to be rebuilt for a church happened in 1926.

      St. Francis was closed in the later half of 1927 and the people were asked to go to Luseland.

      In 1934, St. Francis Parish was re-opened and became the mission of Canadian Martyrs of Luseland.

      The church was destroyed by fire on November 2, 1937.

      The parish was Father Rheidt in 1937. The stared the building of a new church in 1940.

      The Priest from 1942 to 1947 was Father Hermann. The cross and steeple was complete between 1942-47.

      The Priest from 1947 to 1958 was Father Peter.

      On July 13, 1948, the church was strike by lightening and was completely distroyed.

      From 1958 to 1962, the Priest was Father Herbst and from 1962 to 1967 it was Father Prothman.

      In 1963, St. Francis mission was closed and church member went to Canadian Martyrs at Kerrobert and Tramping Lake.

      The First Parishers were Jacob Ulrick, John German and Family, Peter Gerinsky and Family, John Rigelhof, Frank Schmitt and Adam Heilam.
