John
Herbert Vair and Edith Mary Cooper-
This
adventurous couple sailed from England-1901
From coal mines to homesteads- Alberta life begun.
John's
parents came along and farmed close by
Father and
son broke land with sweat and a sigh.
Love was
generous as ten children came along
Three girls
and seven boys became bright and strong.
Good
parents produced good children- strong stalk!
Team work was
everything; selfishness would shock.
Hard work
and clean orderly living brought success,
A big clean
productive garden fed family the best.
Nothing in
short supply so generous they became.
The poor
and destitute were never treated with blame.
John
thought of England and France now far away.
DeVeres the name in battle; good
warriors they say
Even a Castle
DeVere we lived in for joining each war.
We were
strong and tactical, winning each score.
