Pierre Falcon

- Carol Vulliamy

Pierre Falcon- 1793

Dad was a NorWester and dear Mom, a Cree

Daughter of Cuthbert Grant, Mary loved me.

Three sons and four daughters came along

Pierre rose to the occasion with poetry and song.

Children inspired me; Metis tradition enabled me

Relocating to White Horse Plain- by our family

This good man became the Justice of the Peace

Looking after the safety of others now increased.

The Seven Oaks Battle, Semple and Cuthbert fought

Recording history with poetry and songs now sought

Pierre composed songs La Chanson de la Grenouillere,

Le Lord Selkirk au Fort William ou La Danse des Bois-Brules.

Too old to fight, Pierres songs helped boost morale

His songs sang across Canada without pen- only oral

Lake Falcon in Manitoba was named in his honor

This notable, personable man lived free of dishonor.
