Marie-Anne
Gaboury- 1871
Marie-Anne
was a devout Roman Catholic youth
Assisting
with housework for the parish priest was truth
In
due time she married Jean-Baptiste Lagimodiere
She journeyed
to North Saskatchewan Region they say.
In early
years Marie-Anne rode horses on the buffalo hunt
-Proving
her strength and durability for pioneer life upfront.
Some
say she rode a horse with a baby on each side-
Strong,
durable babies she tutored and nurtured with pride.
Life
on the Prairies was exciting- a quest for survival-
Everyday
she challenged adding intrigue to the Archival.
Many
fine lessons she taught by example to her kids
Faith,
strength, courage, achievement- failure she got rid.
Marie-Anne
made history in two venues- its recorded
She
was the first white pioneer woman now on board.
And she
was the grandmother of Riel- best of the best!
The
Father of Manitoba for Riel; Metis not put to test.
