Isidore
Dumont Sr- 1810
The proud father of Gabriel
Dumont was his claim to fame.
Louise Laframboise
liked the glory he bought to their name.
Schools unknown, their
children learned lessons on the run.
Life taught much as
survival and unstable history had begun.
Breaking and riding horses
was crucial for travel and food.
Shooting and hunting were Metis survival skills to include.
Learning dialects helped
join the Metis and Indian folk
Understanding and trust is
basic- we must not provoke.
Gabriel learned to accrue
endurance and country mapping
-Endless
days riding with Dad Isidore, sometimes trapping.
Metis
problems and culture learned, understanding was clearer
Lessons were
learned for a reason; he later became their leader.
Life was rugged and hard.
His dear wife Louise passed on
Five lonely years before
new love made him feel he belonged.
Angele
Landry could not forget this wonderful father of seven
Life replenishes love; son
named Joseph arrived from heaven.
