Doctor
Jennings Thompson- 17618
(Great
Grand Uncle to Dollie Howard nee Thompson)
Growing up
in the 1700s, Jennings recalled with pride,
-Mother
curing her family with herbal knowledge inside.
Small pox,
cholera, TB, influenza, pneumonia and more
Cures must
be found in nature, there were no stores…
Jennings
learned the lessons of the day, wanting more-
Doctors in
Europe had valuable knowledge to pay for
Jennings
must learn and expand his knowledge base.
The idea
of bacteria and “germ theory” he embraced.
Hospitals
over house calls; clean living conditions key,
“Germ
Theory” over “Four Humors” he could agree!
Blood,
phlegm, black bile, yellow bile now obsolete
Dr.
Jennings Thompson welcomed new care upbeat!
The U of
Pennsylvania had a fine Medical College.
The
Massachusetts Medical Society acknowledged
The need
for eight years of medical training required
So much to
learn as new medical research transpired.
