Poem for
Ralph Howard

Ralph Howard

Written by Carol Vulliamy (Howard)

Ralph was part of the original Howard pioneers at the North Bend

He seeded and harvested by hand- with fences to make and mend.

In the winter months he chopped wood for the North Bend School

He braved the elements in a tent and he was thankful for his tools.

Similar to his brothers four he never swore, Judas Priest recalled-

They all lived a wholesome life; around family their lives revolved

These men enjoyed a good visit with family and friends they say

With spiritual tutoring at a young age they all learned how to pray

Ralph was more aggressive than his brothers- a grouch compared.

His grandchildren sometimes referred to him as their Grandpa Bear.

Ralph’s dear wife passed away too soon and he never forgot the loss

Life seemed pale without her, his happiness and zest for life it cost.
