Written to Honor the Late Percy Best-
2009
Enjoying the Prairie beauty and charm was a magnet
inside,
Occasionally Percy left only to return- "I was lonely
he'd confide."
I loved the peaceful solitudes and the sunsets
felt like a dream.
The rest of the world was plain; here my world
was supreme.
Lorna was the love of my life- four wonderful
sons came along.
My dreams were now complete- my life became a
song.
I was surrounded by family waiting to visit and make
music,
I knew I was blessed by my family and friends- I'd never
lose it.
Percy knew the value of building relationships with
family and all.
He never did rest- if neighbors had chores they'd
give him a call.
He'd consider it as neighborly need; more hands
less work said he-
Everywhere in the countryside were friends
considered near family.
Our loved ones have made the ultimate
journey to the Great Beyond
He is feeling happy to see Irene, "the
old heifer" who did no wrong.
There's the "old steer"
she said with a grin, "what took you so long?"
The pain
is gone, no more tears; we are here right where we belong.
