Poem for
Irene Howard nee Draycot

                      Irene Howard nee Draycot

In a family made of strength, courage and character Irene did belong

No wonder she was so strong as adversity and challenge came along

Fiercely independent and capable beyond compare- she lived unafraid

Irene remained kind and gracious as family and friendships she made.

Irene knew she must work hard for a living- laundry for others she did

Everyone admired her- the stubborn stains she somehow always got rid

Even with four children to raise Irene was glad to greet others at home

She was the town’s mother as many of the children around her roamed

As a young child Irene graciously welcomed me when often I arrived

I was always anxious to play with my Margie; which helped me survive

Many thanks I owe to people such as yourself for your cheery, kind ways.

Even with life less than ideal you were able to nurture others- it pays

As the golden years arrive you have so many good memories to share

You will always remain happy knowing that so many knew you cared.

As you struggled and faced each challenge bravely - God was recording

In your Heavenly Home you will feel like a queen with all His rewarding.

                           Thanks For The Memories Irene!
