Poem for
Gordon Howard

      Saskatchewan’s Centennial Year

-2005-

                    Gordon Howard

The Frenchman Butte Museum known for many miles

Is the epitome of Gordons dreams, hard work and smiles

As founder and tour guide Gordon is very busy everyday

He gives so much of himself to his community they all say.

A lifetime of loving dedication to others Gordon has shown

Saving the history of generations; some he has known

Stories, pictures and artifacts provide strong roots for all

Gordon is admired by the towns’ folk both large and small.

A Centennial Year is a special time for Saskatchewan’s great-

The pioneers, Veterans, Metis, Aboriginals we must not forsake

For they were the trail blazers and brave souls paving our way

Gordon preserved history; it was his life’s work he heard God say

After sixty years of hard work, it is time with Gordon we met

We are thankful for his visionary historical passion-lest we forget

It took twenty-five years for this magnificent museum to unfold

Gordon surely deserves a hearty handshake and thanks I’m told.

Congratulations for a life well-lived; bearing fruit of the best kind-

The countryside is cheering this year for the history not left behind

His work honors the generations now gone and those yet to come

Let’s take this special year to thank him for the work he has done.
