Poem for
Clifford Franklin Howard

Clifford Franklin Howard

Cliff learned many lessons in gentle kindness as a boy

An only child his mom and dad were certain to enjoy

A peaceful life with harmony and tolerance were sure-

He learned of nature including Seneca root, gold and fur

An adult in the Great Depression- everything was scarce

Material possessions unavailable; he chose frugal over farce

He forged his living from nature; his classroom all along

In the countryside with good friends he felt he did belong.

The culture and character of the Cree he admired a lot

A near drowning while ice fishing until Harper did spot

A pole he shoved in just in time to help his friend Cliff.

A lifetime of gratitude for struggling to help him live

Cliff was a father to many- three houses he had to share

Anyone in need of a place knew he would always care

Cliff enjoyed a simple basic life full of the outdoors

His was kept busy knap sacking as he often did explore.
