Descendants of Floyd James Howard

Generation No. 1

1. FLOYD JAMES8 HOWARD (FERNANDO JAMES7, JOHN6, SAMUEL5, ELDER NATHAN4, NATHAN3, THOMAS2, ROBERT1) was born 9 June 1878 in Floyd County, Iowa, United States of America, and died August 1972 in North Bend District, Saskatchewan, Canada. He married MARIE HJORT. She was born 9 June 1878.

Notes for FLOYD JAMES HOWARD:

Floyd followed the family to North Bend in 1920, too late to homestead; but soon took up farming in this district and farmed actively until January 1968, when at the age of 89, he took pneumonia and a heart condition. While in hospital he expressed a desire to find his three sons whom he had last seen in 1920, there having been a divorce and subsequently loss of communication. The twin sons Rex and Max were found living in Idaho. The eldest son Donald has passed away only a few months before we were able to locate them all. These men were overjoyed at finding their father. Having been nine or ten years old when they last saw him, they had fond memories of their dad and had tried several times to locate him, had given up and presumed that he was dead.

Rex and his wife, Helen, flew up and spent a weekend with him while he was still in the hospital and Max came and spent two weeks with him soon after he came home. Floyd is now making his home with his sister Ruby Campbell-Howard. They are looking forward keenly to summer holidays this year; expecting a visit from quite a number of the new found family.
