Bill McDiarmid

From: [email protected]

Hi Sue,

I'm Bill McDiarmid from Parma Hts (suburb of Cleveland),Ohio, USA. Just received an e-mail from a fine Canadian Lady who suggests that a Dominion Land Grant for a James B. MCDIARMID (he is my g grandfather) was situated near Battleford.

About James: Born circa 1850, maybe in Lanark Cy. Ontario. Married in Cleveland Ohio 1873. Enters an asylum in 1881, is divorced by his wife, and departs the asylum in 1885. No more footprints. I'm hoping that I have made a connection. If so, it's been a long time in coming.

Is there anything you can suggest for me to research, or with a little fortune, perhaps you might have information at your location. At any rate, I await your response.

Very sincerely, and with fingers crossed,

Bill

Hello Sue,

I'm looking for Margaret (Maggie) Langford, who was married to a (first name unknown) Robinson, of Wilkie. Maggie was born in Manitoba, 1881 and died between 1969 & 1984. She lived with her parents Ellen and George Langford and 9 other siblings in Kittson County, Minnesota while she was of school age.

What advice can you give me?

Lawrence C. Erwin, Toronto

In 1906/07 my Great Grandparents James Cook and his wife Ruth (Lamb) moved to the Senlac area with their two daughters, one of which was my Grandmother, Charlotte Irene Cook, who was baptized at Horse Lake in 1907. Her sponsors were her grandparents Cornelius and Clara Lamb. Two younger brothers Baden Powell and Earl were born in Saskatchewan. It appears as if the Cooks and Lambs moved from Sundridge, Ontario. In 1922 James Cook died in Senlac and sometime later Ruth remarried a ? Carr and moved with the two younger sons Baden Powell and Earl to the Kenora, Ontario region. Charlotte married Ernest Jones in the Cathedral in Saskatoon on June 10, 1924. They had three children Ernest b. 1925, Edward b. 1926 and Annie Irene b. 1929.Charlotte died in Unity, Saskatchewan on July 3, 1947 and Ernest Jones died in Edmonton on Feb 25, 1963 but is buried in the Unity cemetary. If anyone has any information on the descendants or relatives of these people please contact

Hugh D. Leiper at [email protected].

My uncle, Erick Ostrom, left from Whatcom County, Washington, U.S.A., about 1915. Erick had a son, Garfield Ostrom, who passed away at the North Battleford, Saskatchewan Hospital on August 13, 1989. I think Garfield's mother was named "Anna" and that Garfield had a brother named "Ramen" and a sister (I do not know her name). I have been looking for obituary information or anything else I can find. Erick originally came from Sweden, and I think Jumtland, but I do not know the Parish. Hopefully, you can share with me what records you have on the Saskatchewan part of the family. I have a lot of obituary data for Erick's brothers and sisters.

Thank you in advance.

Barry B. Ostrom

I am looking for information regarding the family of Kelsch"s: I am particularly interested in the Johannes Kelsch family that was on a passenger ship that came from Russia in 1893. My grandparents were on the same ship (Frederich and Helena Kelsch) and my father called Clementa (a misspelling). My ancestors had settled in the village of Rosental in the Chrimea in 1804. One of the founders of that village was a Franz Kelsch who came from somewhere in Baden(I think), possible if not Baden then Wurtemberg, Hesse or the Phalz. The family of Johannes settled in Bradford according to the passenger list. Did they come from Rosental? Are ther still Kelschs in the area of Battleford? The source of the ship informatiion was Odessa

Hi there...really hoping you can help me. I am searching for my father's half brother who he has never met. Chances are his brother does not even know of the other family members. My grandfather had gone by the name of Cecil Fisher , and married a woman named Linda Hibe. In 1927 they had a son Leslie Fisher, this is who I am serching for. If you have any information at on this family I would be very very grateful. I am in Fredericton, New Brunswick and am looking very forward to your findings.

Regards, Angie Palmer
