Online Digital Books

Digital Libraries are the wave of the future and local historians are taking advantage of the ease in presentation provided by digitizing historical books. Collections both large and small are being compiled in a effort to preserve and share treasured works across time.

This directory currently contains links to 28 online books containing information about settlers in the rural municipalities located in the Battleford Region of Saskatchewan. Our collection of links is constantly growing as new and inovative presentations of digital book media are being processed for online presentation. The Battleford collection is one of the best genealogy book lists that I a have come across while doing my personal research.

Online books are one of my personal favourites when it comes to researching my lines, as they contain stories that help to round out my statistical data such as birth and marriage records. They are easy to search and the page images can be magnified for ease in viewing. No trip to the regional archive is necessary when the book is online. Digital books are not always easy to find as the titles are not searchable on the internet when hosted in Digitization projects. If you find a link to a relavant book please forward the URL.

If you know of and online book about settlers in a rural municipality, community or ethinic group within any of the Battleford Rural Communities, I would love to add them to the directory. If you find a link that has broken, please contact us, as Our Roots Nos Racines has re-published their digital books using a new system with new URLs. Thank you to Marilyn Lamont for starting this listing.
