TURNBULL, Irene (Wade) - Irene Turnbull, beloved wife of the
late Rod Turnbull passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on
October 25, 2002 at the age of 94 years. She is survived by her son Jim Wade
(Anne) of Kamloops, B.C. and grandchildren
Gregory Wade (Ann), Madison and Ethan of Burlington,
Ontario, Colleen Chapco (Pil) of South Korea, Stephen, Dianne and Joanne Wade
of Regina.
Also mourning her loss is her sister Eila Parker of Cutknife, Sask
and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She will be sadly missed
by many friends she made during her lifetime. She was predeceased by husbands
Rod Turnbull and Jack Wade, and infant daughter, her brothers, Les, Vern and
Ross Cameron, sisters Wanda Phillips and Erma Carruthers and grandson Robert.
Irene was born in Cutknife,
Sask on October 20, 1908. In
1931 she married Jack Wade who operated Pool Elevators in Rosemound, Adanac
and Richardson, Sask.
Together they owned and operated the general store in Richardson
before moving to Regina
in 1948. They operated Motels in Saskatoon and
Rosetown and then moved to Calgary
in 1959. Five years after Jack's death she married Rod Turnbull in 1976 and
moved to Red Deer where they owned R & I Turnbull Distributing. Her home
was on Pallo Close and then Parkland
Gardens until moving to
the Valley Park Nursing Home. A memorial service, celebrating a life well
lived will be held at the 67th Street Chapel Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 -
67TH Street, Red Deer, on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. If friends
so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation Of Alberta 101, 5208 - 53 Avenue Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5K2.

STUHR, Lorna Stuhr (nee Osborn), born in Battleford, SK in 1912,
passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2005. Predeceased by her husband, Ernest; two
brothers, Cuthbert and Robert Osborn; three step-daughters, Eileen Mahara,
Joyce Sutton and Bernice Peck. Lorna is survived by two nephews, David (Monique)
and Murray (Carol) Osborn and their families. She is also survived by seven
step-grandchildren: Sharon Penner, Sandra Train, Gary Peck, Brian Peck,
Barbara Crook, Richard and Jim Sutton and their families. Lorna was employed
by the Government of Saskatchewan in various positions. She was secretary to
the late Honorable Woodrow Lloyd for 18 years while he was Minister of
Education, Finance and Premier. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so
wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to a charity of choice. A Graveside

WALKER, LEONA (ONA)
EVELYN? Ona's families sadly report her
passing on May 3, 2005 at Battlefords District Care Centre in Battleford, Saskatchewan.
Ona was born at Glencoe, Minnesota on January 16, 1912. She
immigrated to Canada as a young child when her father and mother, Robert and
Mathilda Petrich, took a homestead between the Quill Lakes north of Wynyard,
Saskatchewan. Ona attended the one-room Grandy
School in what was, then, the Grandy School District near Wynyard. She
married her neighbours' son, the late Conrad (Con) Abram Walker, at Wynyard
on September 30, 1934. Con Sr. passed away on June 12, 1995. Ona was one of
nine brothers and sisters and the last to pass away. She was also predeceased
in 1991 by her grandson, Paul Robert Mazurak Walker, late of North Battleford. Ona is survived by her son, Con Jr.
of Oakville, Ontario, and his children and grandchildren, son Rob (Mary) of
Mississauga, Ontario and their son Ryan, son Jeff (Suzanne) of Sudbury,
Ontario and their children Karly and Ian, son David of Vancouver, B.C. and
his son, David Tullio of Sudbury, Ontario and daughter Joanne Brown (Dwayne)
of Hong Kong and their daughters Bailee and Dana. She is also survived by her
son, Harvey (Jean) of Battleford, and his children and grandchildren, son
Shawn (Rhonda Johnson) of High Prairie, Alberta, and his children Ami, Joshua
and Adrian of Lethbridge, Alberta, son Guy (Jennifer) of Montreal, Quebec and
their daughter, Sidney and daughter Heidi Lesko (Dwayne) of Lethbridge,
Alberta and their daughter Breanna. Ona was the quintessential homemaker who
followed her husband to Moose Jaw, Montreal, Estevan and Regina with intervening short stops back in
Wynyard. She and Con finally settled in the Cathedral District of Regina in
1948 where Con Jr. and Harvey finished their primary and secondary education.
Ona was a staunch supporter of Westminster
United Church
and then Rosemont United Church
during her years in Regina.
Upon her sons moving away from home, Ona volunteered in the sewing room at
the Red Cross and, ultimately, was hired as the sewing room supervisor. It
was use of her interpersonal and sewing skills which gave the greatest
satisfaction to her. Ona and Con gave up their home in Regina
in 1988 and thereafter shared a room in Pioneer
Village in Regina until Con Sr. passed away. Shortly
after Con's death, Ona moved to the Battlefords Regional Care Home (now
Battlefords District Care Centre) in Battleford, where she lived until her
passing. Funeral services will be held in Speers Funeral Chapel commencing at
11:00 am on Monday, May 9, 2005 with interment to follow in Regina's
Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers,

joined his "higher power" on December 21, 2001. He was predeceased

GONDA, It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of
Anne-Marie (Stahr) Gonda on the morning of Sunday March 18, 2001. At the age
of 68 she had lived a full life, giving to those around her as wife, mother,
grandma, friend, nurse, teacher, traveler and volunteer. Never did she ask
for anything in return but smiles and laughter. She was born January 7, 1933
in Arborfield, Saskatchewan to John and Franziska Stahr.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Wanda) of Dalmeny and her daughter,
Stephanie of Pusasn, South
Korea. Also left are her brothers, Rudy
(Lea) of Boswell, BC., Bert (Anneke) and Freddy (Melba), both of Australia.
But, left to miss their grandma and her cookies, magic bags and after church
lunches are her twin grandsons, Kendric and Jordan who were an unending
source of pride, joy and love to her. Her husband Carl predeceased her in
1983. In lieu of flowers it is Anne-Marie's wish that donations be made to
St. Thomas More College Memorial Fund. A Wake will be held at 7:30 p.m. on
Friday April 6, 2001 from the Royal Canadian Legion, 262 - 22nd Street, Battleford,

FOSTER, William John Ross Foster eldest son of John and Jean
Foster passed away peacefully in Biggar
Hospital on Jan. 11,
2001 at the age of 79 years. He was born April 6, 1921, in Biggar, SK. where
he received his elementary and high school education. He worked in James
Brothers Meat Department before hiring on the C.N.R. as an extra gang laborer
in 1940. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Aug. 1940 and was
discharged in Feb. 1945. He reenlisted in the army in Feb. 1945 and was
discharged in Nov. 1945. Bill hired on the C.N.R. as a brakeman in Nov. 1945.
Bill married Luella Elmore on Aug. 8, 1951. He retired from the C.N.R. in
June 1977. Following retirement they spent winter months in Mesa
Arizona and their summer months at the
cottage in Regina
Beach. He was
predeceased by his father John in Apr. 1960; his mother Jean (McRobbie) in
Jan. 1982; one sister Helen in July, 1980; two brothers Ken in Dec. 1994 and
Jim in Oct. 2000. In passing he leaves to mourn his wife Luella of Biggar,
SK; three children Marcia Jean Hunter of Yellowknife,
N.W.T., Kathleen (Dale) Kolberg of Biggar,
SK. and Warren (Bev) of Saskatoon,
SK; and nine grandchildren. In

occurred at the Borden Care Home on April 3, 2002. Mary was born on April 15,

Dosdall of Quinton. They resided on a farm near Quinton for 42 years. In
1982, Peter and Mary retired and moved into Quinton. Mary is survived by her
sister, Margaret Schell of Kerrobert, SK; son, Con Dosdall of Calgary, AB and
daughter, Sylvia (Bruce) of Borden, SK; grandchildren, Shona (Bob), Kimberly,
Jill, Craig, Brett; and great-grandson, Bobby. Mary was predeceased by
husband, Peter, in 1990; three sisters, Theresa, Betty, Alice; three brothers, Frank, Ted, Sil.

THOMSON ,Ralph Gordon, age 80, of Craven, SK passed away
peacefully at Pasqua
Hospital on February
17, 2005. Ralph was born and raised in Springwater,
SK, finished schooling in Saskatoon before joining the RCAF in which
he served eleven years and is a life member of the Lumsden Legion. His love
for growing vegetables and flowers started up Qu'Appelle Gardens, lasting
twenty-six years until retirement. Ralph was predeceased by an infant
daughter; father Dan; mother Alice (Cowan); and brothers-in-law Jock
MacDonald, Jack and Marshall Young; sister-in-law Mabel Young. Left to mourn
is his wife of 46 years, Marilyn (Young); daughter Marral Eberts; son Barry
(Nancy); also sons Larry (Kathy), Richard (Betty), Chris and their mother
Ruth; grandchildren Mathew, Natalie, Rianne, Richelle and Nicholas. Sorrow is

KINART, ALFRED MERIT Jan. 19th, 1924 Dec. 29th, 2003. Alfred
died peacefully with his family by his side at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Estevan, SK after a lengthy battle with cancer. He
was born in Estevan and raised on a farm near Bryant District.
After the death of his mother, he had to quit school to help out on the
family farm. He worked various jobs until he gained employment with Imperial
Oil Seismograph. He worked for them for 29 years. During that time, he met
and married Elizabeth Peebles on June 5, 1956. To this union five children
were born, one son and four daughters. They lived in several places including
Dodsland for 11 years, Lampman for 22 years and after retirement into
Estevan. Alfred was a self-taught jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed wood
working, machines, gardening, autobody, camping and helping others. His most
favourite thing was spending time with his wife and family. The grandchildren
were a special joy in his life. He will be sadly missed by all. He was
predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Anna, sister Lola, daughter Christine,
grandson Tyler and brother-in-law Henry. He is survived by his loving wife,
Elizabeth, daughter Dorothy (Larry) Connell of Fruitvale, B.C., son Samuel
Kinart of Estevan, SK, daughters; Linda Astrope and Beverley Kinart, both of
Regina, SK, son-inlaw Don Weber of Love, SK, grandchildren; Jamie (Rob)
Lupanko, Amy Connell (Lloyd), Adam Connell, Dallas Astrope, Aaron and Jessica
Weber, sisters; Berneice Franck and Jane Handy of Estevan and brother-in-law
Jim Burnett (Joan) of Glen Ewen, SK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews,
relatives and friend. A Celebration of Alfred's life will be held at 10:00
a.m., on Friday, January 2nd, 2004, from the chapel of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan, SK,

CHEN, MARILYN (nee Reece) died peacefully, on June 17, 2003,
after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her mom and dad
Paulina and Alec Reece. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Tom; son
Kevin; daughter Leanne; Tom's mom Ruriko Chen "Bachan"; sisters
Sylvia (Larry) McLeod, Susan (Robert) Ambros, Myrna (Murray) Nakonechny,
Brenda (Orrey) Hiebert, Donna Reece (Shane Meropoulis); brother Ron (Nancy)
Reece; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters in-law
and friends. Marilyn was born on May 28, 1953 in Dodsland, SK.
She spent her early years in the Dodsland area, later moved to Saskatoon and then, when she wed Tom Chen on August 11,
1973 they made their home in Regina.
Marilyn and Tom were blessed with two wonderful children Kevin (age 23) and
Leanne (20). Marilyn was a homemaker as well as a career woman. She worked as
a Provincial Government employee for 28 years starting with the Department of
Finance as a mailroom clerk and was most recently working at Saskatchewan
Environment and Resource Management as a Business Methods Analyst. Marilyn
was a special person to her family, friends and all those who knew her. Her
loving, caring and guiding qualities endeared her to many. She had a special
place in her heart for her nephew, Tyler Chen and you can be sure she will
still be there for him. Marilyn loved golfing and also enjoyed flowers and
gardening. Her real passion and talent was music. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL
will be held at Good Samaritan Roman Catholic Church, 425 Broad St N. Regina
on Saturday June 21, 2003 at 1:00 PM. Interment at Regina Memorial Gardens
Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Regina Funeral Home - Arbor Room.

on November 14, 1913. She came to Canada
from the U.S.A.
with her parents in December of 1913 when she was one month old. She was
raised on a farm south of Handel, Saskatchewan and attended school at Gettysburg
and Leipzig.
Later she went on to Saskatoon
and attended sewing school and became an accomplished seamstress. She married
Carl W. Schmidt on October 13, 1941 in Handel,
Sask. The newly wed couple then
lived in Hershel, Sask., where Carl was in the hotel
business with his father. Moving to the Okanagan in 1943 to Kelowna, Carl and Mary worked in the fruit
industry -Mary at the Kelowna Growers Exchange packing house. Mary was a life
member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada. Mary's husband was the past
Grand Knight of the Kelowna Knights of Columbus, Father Pandosy council #2558
in 1949. In 1953, the opportunity came to work in Oliver, BC.
Carl worked in the hardware business with Joe's Hardware and Electric and
later Marshall-Wells while Mary was employed in the Haynes cooperative
packing house and did sewing and alterations on the side. Besides gardening,
Mary loved to play cards and formed many strong relationships in the Oliver
community before returning in 1998 to Kelowna
to be near her family. Predeceased by her husband Carl in 1977; brothers:
John, Fritz, George, Frank and Anthony and sister Frances. Survived by; two
sons: Allan Schmidt (Ulrike) of Ottawa, ON, Tom Schmidt (Christine) of Kelowna,
BC, daughter Marianne Ingraham (Douglas) of Kelowna; grandchildren: Derek
(Liza), Sonja, Diane, Denise, Kevin, Emily (Neal), Jessie, Derek and great
grandchildren: Roman, Kailey, and Austin. Mary is also survived by her
brothers: Bernard, Carl, and Paul and her sisters Margaret and Frieda; and
many nieces and nephews and close friends. Prayers will be recited on Monday,
April 12th at 6:00 pm at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna,
BC. Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated Tuesday, April 13th at 1:00 pm at St. Charles Garnier Parish
with Father Wayne Pfliger as Celebrant. Interment to take place in the Oliver Cemetery,
Oliver, BC.

WIENS, JACOB KORNELIUS WIENS On Sunday, September 3, 2006 at the
St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit, Jacob K. Wiens at the age of 82 years,
went suddenly and peacefully to be with his Lord. He is survived by his
beloved wife of 53 years, Katherine, sons James (Judy) and Gerald, daughter
Beverly (Bryan)
Wilson, grandchildren Nicole, Julia, Ian, Patrick, Andrew, and Paul
(Jessica). Also surviving him are: sister Helen Rempel, brothers Arthur,
Rudolf (Anne), and Victor (Lois), brother-in-law Walter (Edna) Thiessen, and
sisters-in-law Hedie Loewen and Helen Derksen, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Margaret, his sister Sarah
Janzen, brothers-in-law Henry Janzen and Arthur Rempel, and sister-in-law
Leila Wiens. Jake was born on August 8, 1924 in Tiegerweide, Molotschna, a
Mennonite village in the South Ukraine. His
parents immigrated to Canada
in November, 1924. They settled on a farm in Herschel, Sask.
the following year. He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus
Christ by Rev. J. J. Thiessen, in June, 1942. Jake graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a B. Ag.
(economics), farmed for a brief time, and then worked as an economist for Agriculture
Canada from 1949 to 1983
in Saskatoon, Regina,
and Winnipeg.
While working, he completed his Masters in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan,
and the course requirements toward a PhD. at Iowa State
University. From 1979
to 1981 he worked for CIDA as an economist in Zambia. After retirement Jake
developed an interest in Mennonite history, travelled, and spent many
enjoyable hours with his grandchildren. Throughout his life he maintained his
interest in farming in Herschel making trips in spring and fall to view the
fields on the family farm. He loved to curl. Throughout his life he took an
active part in church affairs. He taught Sunday School, served on personnel
and finance committees, chaired building projects, served as a deacon, and
enjoyed meeting people as an usher. He was always interested and concerned
for others often giving help in quiet ways. Special thanks to Dr. A. Jowett, Dr.
Chowdhury, Dr. L. Brandes, and the physicians, nurses and staff of Cancer
Care Manitoba
and the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care and
attention. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2006 at
10:30 AM at Bethel Mennonite Church,
465 Stafford, Winnipeg.
Internment will follow at Mennonite
Memorial Gardens.

KRUG, Irvin Werner Krug passed away peacefully on August 6th,
2003, in his room at Luther Sunset Home in Saskatoon. His loving wife of 65 years,
Muriel, and children Ron Krug of Winnipeg, and Cheralyn (Krug) Wiens of
Herschel, were at his side to say goodbye as he passed on to his welldeserved
rest and eternal reward. Irvin was born at Lorlie, SK,
to Conrad and Marie Krug on November 28th, 1907. He received his early
education in Lorlie (beginning in 1913 in a school his father had just built)
and Abernethy. He completed his high school in Yorkton. He then took his teacher
preparation at the Normal School in Regina
in 1929-30. He taught elementary school in Waldron, Lorlie, Chickney and
Lemberg. He interrupted his teaching career to take up a position as elevator
agent in Bear Creek in 1938. Like most things in his life, Irvin took a more
exciting road than most. On Friday he was offered the job, but they wanted to
hire a married man. So that night he proposed to Muriel Dixon. They were
married on Saturday, August 5, 1938, honeymooned on Sunday and showed up for
work on Monday as a tired but happily married Saskatchewan Wheat Pool agent.
Ron was born in 1942 while they lived in Bear Creek. Irvin then moved to
Fleming to take over the elevator there. While there, their daughter Cheralyn
was born in 1945. In 1947, he quit his job to take over the family farm. He
resumed teaching in 1964 and retired from both teaching and farming in 1974
when they moved to Saskatoon
to be near Cheralyn's family. Irvin's activities were too numerous to detail,
but music, sport, church and community took centre stage in his life. He
played a great saxophone, organized three orchestras (Abernethy 1932 The
Rythmic Five,Tantallon 1938 and Fleming 1944). Toots (Muriel) was pianist for
the last two. They were active members of United
Churches in Tantallon, Fleming,
Lorlie and Mayfair and Meewasin Valley in Saskatoon.
He was a central figure in organizing choirs and sang with the Saskatoon
Chimo Chordsmen from 1974 to 1991. In his youth he was a hockey star and he
encouraged and watched with great enthusiasm and pride, his grandsons Devin
and Lauren play hockey. He loved fishing, hunting, curling, ball and later in
life golf. He was predeceased by his parents, his half siblings Pearly,
Wilfred, Johnny and Doris; his siblings Ella (and Ben), Tom (and Aileen),
Alma, Richard and Annetta (Roy). He is survived by his devoted wife of 65
years Muriel, his brother Nelson (and Bea), his sister Joyce, his
brother-in-law Wilson and his son Ron, and daughter Cheralyn (Berny) and
their five loving grandchildren Devin, Nicole, Lauren, Stacey and Teresa. We
are all thankful to God for the life he was given and for the legacy and rich
memories that none of us will forget. A Memorial Service for Irvin will be
held on Saturday, August 9th, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. from the 3rd floor auditorium
at Luther Special Care Home (1212
Osler St.), with Pastor Bob Jarock officiating.
A private family interment will take place prior to the service. Donations in
memory of Irvin may be made to the LutherCare Foundation, Special Needs

HEINRICHS, Henry passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, at
the Pasqua Hospital,
Regina at 83
years of age. Henry resided at Queen Victoria Estates in Regina. He was predeceased by his beloved
wife Frieda of 23 years in 1977. Loving father to his daughters, June Marie
Adam (Ed) and Linda Joyce Heinrichs-Demorest (Logan) and grandfather to Geordi Thomas
Heinrichs Demorest and Kiera Joyce Heinrichs Demorest. Henry was born on
December 4, 1919 in the midst of the Russian Revolution. Unfortunately, his
father, Heinrich, did not survive the revolution. In 1923 his mother, Marie,
married Hermann Lenzmann and the family immigrated to Canada and eventually to a farm near Rosthern, Sask.
After he completed his elementary schooling at Kensington
School near Herschel, he also
attended Rosthern
Junior Academy
for high school. Henry went on to Normal School in Saskatoon and completed his Master's Degree
in Education in later years. He taught full and part-time in numerous Saskatchewan school
divisions for 52 years. Teaching was his passion. To his final days, people
greeted Henry with fond recollections of being students of his years gone
past at locations ranging from Woodrow, Bedard Creek, Choiceland, Hudson Bay,
Vonda, Southey, Lipton, Smeaton, Melville, and Balfour Collegiate, Regina. After retirement
in 1986, Henry taught part-time at the Saskatchewan
Indian Federated
College in Regina. His love of teaching continues with
his daughers, June and Linda, who are currently teaching in Regina and Swift Current. Family, friends,
and lively discussions were passions he enjoyed until his final days. A
"Celebration of Henry's Life" will be held at the Broadway United
Church, 105 Broadway Ave.,
on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. People attending this celebration are
asked not to wear black, but to dress up in bright colors Henry loved so much
(especially on his Hawaiian shirts). In lieu of flowers, family and friends

WIENS Leila Fern Wiens passed away on August 16, 2006 at Royal University
Hospital in Saskatoon. She was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan
on July 2, 1927 to Peter and Anne Schmidt. She grew up on a family farm near
Drake, SK where her family was involved in many church and community
activities. She attended the Kansas School for her elementary education and then took
her high school in Drake and the Rosthern
Junior College.
Following high school she attended Normal School and taught for 10 years in
several schools. In 1956 she married Arthur Wiens. They farmed together in
the Herschel community until moving to Rosetown in 1991. In 1946, Leila was
baptized upon her confession of faith. She had been an active member in the Saskatoon and Drake
Mennonite churches, before joining the Herschel Mennonite church in 1956,
where she remained a member until her death. Leila leaves to cherish her memory
her loving husband, Arthur; children, Dennis (Joanne) and family Vanessa,
Joshua and Rebecca of Winnipeg, Mel (Wilma) and family Andrew and Kevin of
Winnipeg, Rodney (Laurie) and family Matthew, Meghan, Ryan and Amy of
Herschel and Carolyn (Kenny) McDonald and family Kaitlyn and Kira of
Rosetown; sisters: Viola Schmidt of Saskatoon and Dorothy (Paul) Peters of
Steinbach, MB; sisters-in-law, Lenora Schmidt of Lanigan and Helen Rempel of
Winnipeg; brothers-in-law, Jake (Katherine) Wiens of Winnipeg, Rudy (Ann)
Wiens of Calgary and Vic (Lois) Wiens of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces and

BATES, MARTHA EILENE--passed away on Friday, September 14, 2001.
Martha was born on the family farm at Luseland, SK. on August 5, 1915. She
grew up on the farm and attended high school in Luseland and North Battleford. After graduation she attended Saskatoon Normal School. Her classroom teaching
began in rural schools. In 1938 she married Lester Bates and the couple made
their home in Kerrobert, SK., where she continued teaching in the town
school. The couple later moved to Weyburn, Moose Jaw
and Regina
where they raised their two children. Martha is lovingly remembered by her
husband Lester, daughter Lesley (David) Guerrero and grandchildren David and
Mari Elena of Regina, daughter-in-law Judy and
grandchildren Paul and Jennifer of Vancouver, B.C., and special niece Gladys
Scheidt of Regina.
Other survivors include her twin sister Mary Olson of Kelowna, B.C., and sister Eva Zimmer of
Luseland as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by
her parents Harel and Gertrude Mathias, sister Janet Sim, brothers Clark and
William Mathias and son Byron. Besides devotion to her family, Martha spent
much of her adult life as a volunteer in community activities. In addition to
the volunteer teaching of art classes she worked in many ways at the Gallery.
Her work at Wesley
United Church
included serving as coordinator of the Wesley Wheelers for nearly 25 years.
Special recognition of her volunteer work included certificates from Wascana
Rehabiliation Centre and from the City of Regina. Ill health in the last six years
caused her to give up the community volunteer activities. MEMORIAL SERVICE

suffering was stopped after a long battle with cancer. She will join her

father-in-law Andrew Pitura in the kingdom of heaven. Her strong will, determination,

GREENAWAY, Norman Edward (Ted) Greenaway of Saskatoon, passed
away peacefully in Toronto,
on September 11, 2000, after suffering a stroke, while visiting his children.
Beloved husband of Joan (nee Becker) and loving father of Diane, Rob, Terry,
Norma, Mary, Sheila and Dorothy. Predeceased by wife, Ruth, mother of his
children. Father in-law of Henry, John and Anne-Marie and adored grandfather
of Lee, Renee, Lise, Gabby, Jay, Todd, Martin and Claire and great
grandfather of Jessica and Trenton. Born July 31, 1920, to Stan and Harriet
Greenaway in Dodsland, SK,
raised in Kerrobert, SK
and Camrose, AB, with his brother, the late Reverend
Archibald Greenaway. A proud member of the RAF Ferry Command in WWII.
Engineering graduate of the University
of Alberta. Ted was
co-founder of Asphalt Services Limited (ASL), Saskatoon, and a respected member of the
business community in the prairies for half a century. The family expresses
gratitude for the compassion shown towards Ted and his loved ones, by the
nurses, doctors and staff at the Toronto Western Hospital Acute Stroke
Investigation Unit. In accordance with Ted's wishes, there will be no
funeral. The family will hold a private celebration of his life. Friends so

To those who knew and loved him, Ted will be remembered as the "Rock of
Gibraltar" and will be profoundly missed.

Predeceased by her grandparents. Debra Louise Grimes was born on October 19,
1958 in Kerrobert, SK. She moved to Gull Lake
with her family and received her formal education there. Following her
schooling, Debra became a recreational technition with Saskatchewan Parks
and Recreation. Debra was very fond of photography taking several beautiful
pictures. Debra also enjoyed needlework. She will be sadly missed but fondly
remembered by her family and friends. In her memory, memorial donations can

COLLINS, MR. CHARLES EDWARD of Estevan, Sk., had his final
prayers answered, and was taken home to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 28,
2001. Charlie was born to William and Elizabeth Collins in Kerrobert, Sk., on
December 30, 1921. Charlie died the same way he lived; peacefully,
graciously, and surrounded by family who loved him, including his only
sister, Grace (Ron) Anderson, of Victoria,
B.C. He will be deeply missed by his family who were all blessed simply by
having been loved by him. Charlie leaves a rich legacy, shared by his loving
wife of 58 years, Charlotte.
Together they raised six children; Wayne (Bonnie) Collins, Ed (Shirley)
Collins and Sharen (Martin) Tracy; all of Estevan, Glenn (Jayne) Collins of
Emerald Park, Shirley (Rod) Baergen of Saskatoon, and Elva (Steve) Brisbois
of Regina. He is sadly missed by seventeen grandchildren; Cheri (Greg)
Wilkins, Kimm (David) Reid, Quinn (Rachel) Collins, Cindy (Darryl) Tunall,
Chad (Andrea) Collins, Cameron Collins, Dustin and Yolanda Tracy, Glendyne
and Curtus Collins, Tera, Tanis and Tyson Baergen, Aaron, Colin, Kyle and
Alyssa Brisbois. "Old Grandpa" was adored by fourteen
Great-grandchildren; Linden,
Jordan,
Deiter, and Jaden Wilkins; Riley, Jesse, and Brady Reid; Emma, Thomas,
Hunter, and Maria Tunall; Paige and Brooke Collins; and Mikayla Baergen. Even
though we are sad to be without him here, his family rejoices in his reunion

SNEDDEN, HILDA ELNORA_It is with great sadness, but great
memories that we announce the passing of Hilda Snedden, of Pioneer Village
on Monday, October 17, 2005 at the age of 98 years with her family by her
side. Mum was predeceased by her father, Charles Ripley; her mother Lillian
Smith; her stepfather Charles Smith; husband Charles Snedden; brother Tom
Ripley; sister-in-law Beth Ripley; brother-in-law Thor Halfso; sister-in-law
Margaret Smith and nephew Norman Ripley. Hilda is survived by her daughter
Lynn (Andy) Sieffert; sister Marj Halfso; brother Jim (Exilda) Smith;
granddaughters Laurie (Vern) Ell and Terrie (Rick) Hoffman; great
grandchildren Carrie (Brad), Kristy (Brandon), Brittany, Tanner; great great
grandchildren Corbin and Sydney as well as her extended family Vern, Carla
and Glenda and nieces and nephews. Mum was born in Antwerp, New York
on March 28, 1907. When mum was 6 weeks old her family came and homesteaded
outside of Ernfold, SK. Throughout her life she lived in many locations,
including Assiniboia, Radisson, Kerrobert, Morse, Reno
Nevada, Saskatoon
and Regina.
Mum attended Normal School in Saskatoon and
began her teaching career at Charlotte,
just outside of Ernfold. During this time she met Charlie Snedden who she
married April 6, 1929. Ten years later their only child Lynn was born. Over
the years mum had many triumphs and tragedies. Mum taught school in Ernfold
for over 2 year when she and dad purchased the General Store, which they
owned and operated for 52 years. In 1945, after they finished remodeling
their home over the store and paying off their mortgage everything was lost
to a fire home and store. Not to be defeated they preserved and rebuilt and
new store and house. This house has since been destroyed by a tornado. They
sold the store in 1977 and 10 years later moved to Regina. Mum and dad were always very active
in the community of Ernfold and enjoyed many, many friendships. They also
loved to travel and saw most of the United
States and Canada. Many of their holidays
also included their two granddaughters. Mum loved to dance, play cards
particularly bridge, and belonged to many clubs such as Eastern Star, UCW,
Cemetery Association, Bridge Club, Curling Club, Lioness Club as well as
participating in all kinds of drama and fashion shows. Mum loved to dance and
spoke often of the Charleston
as one of her favorites. Mum was young at heart and took extreme care of her
appearance, always wearing the latest fashion and always looking younger than
her years. Mum was very passionate about her family and had a special love
for her two granddaughters Laurie and Terrie. As years passed she extended
that love for her great grandchildren Carrie, Kristy, Brittany
and Tanner and later still to her great great grandchildren Corbin and Sydney
as well as her step-grandchildren Vern, Carla, Glenda and families. In
November of 2000, Mum moved from her apartment in Palliser Place into Pioneer Village
where she resided until her passing. The family would like to thank the
nurses and caregivers of Pioneer
Village who have
looked after mum (Grandma) over the past 5 years, and in particular the staff
of 2East. Your compassion and care has been truly appreciated. At Mum's
request, there will be a private family memorial with her final resting place

HAMILTON passed away at the age of 82 years. Helen is survived by her sister
Cynthia Martin of Victoria,
BC and numerous nieces and
nephews. Helen was born March 17, 1923 at Kerrobert, SK.
At an early age her family moved to Minnedosa,
MB and she received her education at Cameron Consolidated School. She spent three
years in the WRCNS during the war and when the war was over she went to Winnipeg, MB.
Helen took a business course and then worked for Allis-Chalmers for over 38
years retiring in the 1980's. Helen attended Providence Bible
College and taught
Sunday School at Talbot Mission for a number of years. She was a long time
member of Elim Chapel. Helen enjoyed most sports and travelling. She was
transferred to Regina in 1974 and attended Hillsdale Baptist Church.
Interment will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. in Regina Memorial Gardens
(please meet at the cemetery gates). A Memorial Service will be held on

(EDWARDS) KING passed away peacefully on January 3, 2007, at Providence Place
in Moose Jaw,
just eight days from her 89th birthday. Margaret was born in Kerrobert,
SK, and raised in Grande
Prairie, AB and Scotsguard, SK.
After moving away from home, she lived in Fort
William and then London, ON,
prior to her marriage to Bert in 1940. Margaret and Bert lived in Moose Jaw for over sixty
years. They took their children and grandchildren camping and traveled widely
in their retirement years North and Central America,
Japan and Asia, Great Britain, the Galapagos
Islands and Equador. Margaret was devoted to her family. She was
a quiet, reserved person of many talents, who loved golfing and gardening,
painting and photography, creative writing, sewing and crocheting, reading,
and playing the piano and organ. She loved baking, and her desserts were
legendary especially her ginger snap cookies. Margaret had twinkling eyes and
a ready wit. She was clever and funny, and loved playing cribbage, bridge and
Scrabble, until she acquired Alzheimer disease in her later years. She was
predeceased by her parents, George and Barbara Edwards, two brothers, Mac and
Jim, an infant daughter, Anita, and one son, Rick. She is survived by her
loving husband of 66 years, Herbert (Bert) King of Moose Jaw, four children:
Ted (Kerry), Russell (Jennifer), Betty Anne (Andrew) Reid, and Lois Salter,
fifteen grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren, four brothers and four
sisters. Margaret was deeply loved, and will be sorely missed. The family is
very grateful to all those in Providence
Place who cared for Margaret in the past two
years. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 1:30
p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Linda Owens will officiate.

HEGA ,Thomas George passed away peacefully Monday Sept. 11,
2006. He was born in Kerrobert January 15, 1918, son of Robert John Hegan and
Antoinette Elizabeth nee Mikish. His public school was in Kerrobert,
collegiate in North Battleford. He entered the
University of Saskatchewan Pharmacy program, but was
involved in WWII before he completed his degree in 1948. During WWII George
served 6 years active service, five of which were overseas. He was with field
artillery in the Mediterranean, Italian and
NW Europe campaigns. He completed active service in Emden, Germany.
During this time George was awarded eleven medals, including 3 Battle Stars
and 4 War Medals. On June 13, 1948 he married Kathryn Watson Campbell. Seven
years later they came to Melville and acquired Hegan's Pharmacy and
maintained it until 1977, when it was sold. George was very active in Rotary,
the Masonic Lodge fraternity, Cottage Owners Association and numerous
community services. With the militia, after moving to Melville, George helped
reactivate 162 Battery. George went on to
command the 53rd Field Regt (M) Yorkton
and retired January 1969 with the rank of LCOL. George was also Past Honorary
Col of the
10th Fld. Regt (M). In April 1968, he was appointed aide de Camp to Lt.
Governor of Saskatchewan
and continued to serve through 5 consecutive Lieutenant Governors. In 1966 he
received from the Melville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion his 50 year
continuous service medallion, and in 2001 he was presented with the
Certificate of Merit. George was honored to receive both the Silver Jubilee
and Golden Anniversary Service medals; both presented by the Lt. Governor of
the day. George was predeceased by his parents, four brothers (Bill, Larry,
Andy and Joe)and four sisters (Marion Wheatley, Antoinette Davies, Ruth
Walker, Kathleen MacDonald). He is survived by one sister, Molly Rieger of
Calgary, his loving wife Kathryn of 58 years and 5 children : Patricia (Trent)
Cooley and grandsons, Ryan, Kieran and Regan of Rosthern, Michael( Deborah)
and granddaughter Sarah of Regina, Timothy (Susan) of Saskatoon, Molly of
Regina and Sean(Sherryl ) and granddaughter Danni and grandsons Konnor and
Kailan of Vancouver. Services will be held 2PM, Friday, Sept. 15 at First United Church
in Melville. Interment to follow at local Veteran's Plot. In lieu of flowers,

CARNIE, We wish to announce the passing of our beloved Aunt
Betty Carnie on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the age of 86 years. Betty
passed away peacefully with family by her side in Saskatoon. Betty was born in Kerrobert, SK
on October 8, 1918. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Ethel
Carnie; sister Peggy; brothers Gilbert, Ned, George and Jack. Betty is
survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews and a wonderful circle of
friends. Betty lived a wonderful life which included stops in Milden, Regina, Windsor, Ontario and Saskatoon.
Betty was a graduate of the University
of Saskatchewan, the University of Washington
and in 1967 earned a Master of Library Science at McGill University.
Betty had a wonderful career working as a Librarian with the majority of her
years at the Saskatoon Public Library. Our Aunt Betty was one of the most
honored, respected and a precious member of our family. We will love and miss
her. A Memorial service will be held from St. James' Anglican Church, 607 Dufferin Avenue, Saskatoon on Thursday, September 29, 2005
at 1:30 p.m. . A Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date.

SMYTH, JOHN MARSHALL SMYTH October 10, 1923 to January 6, 2001
John Marshall Smyth--died peace fully in the Palliative Care Unit of Pasqua
Hospital, Regina
on January 6, 2001. John and his wife Shirley (Armstrong) were a devoted
couple who were married for over 51 years. John is survived by his wife;
three sons, Rod (Sheila) of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Murray of Kelowna, BC,
and Brian (Pat) of Regina; sisters Ada Gray of Calgary and Violet (Cecil)
Isaman of Stettler, Alta; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his
brother Donald. John was born October 10, 1923 in Loverna, Sask.,
one of four children to Alex and Sadie Smyth. He was a hardworking farm boy
who did well in school. John left the farm to join the Canadian Army in 1942
and attended officer training at Queen's University. He returned to Saskatchewan to enter the College
of Education at the University of Saskatchewan as a student veteran in
1945. John graduated with B.A. and B.Ed. degrees and began his teaching
career in Yorkton
in 1950. He moved to the Saskatoon Technical Collegiate in 1954 and then was
asked to join the staff at a new school in 1958 - Aden Bowman Collegiate.
John served as Principal at Mount Royal and
Aden Bowman Collegiates. John received his M. Ed. from the University of Alberta
in 1975. During this time, many staff and students were influenced by John
and his passion for teaching. From 1982 to 1986 he worked with the Regina
Board of Education as an assistant superintendent and superintendent. During
this period he was also an alumnus and director of the Banff School of
Advanced Management. After "retiring" in 1986, John was active with
the Royal Canadian Legion where he helped each year with the Poppy Day
campaigns. In 1989 he created the Veteran Resource Speakers' Group; war
veterans who were able to show and tell what Canada's contributions to war and
peace have been. These speakers and the videotapes of their presentations are
used by many groups each year. John worked with the Student Interchange on
Canadian Studies for four years. This interchange saw high school students
from across Canada
being billeted in host cities while attending learning activities. John was
also an integral part of the "Save the Face" Campaign, where the
facade from Central Collegiate in Regina
was incorporated into the new Winston Knoll Collegiate. John was a person who
possessed enormous energy. He was an enthusiastic supporter of students and
staff. He was not afraid to make decisions when decisions had to be made.
John was a person who could understand the big picture and could carry out
detailed projects thoroughly. A memorial service will be held at Lee Funeral
Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave.,
Regina on Thursday, January 11
at 2:00 PM. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in

BATES, FRANK LESTER, passed away in Regina on Monday, June 2, 2003. Lester grew
up in Luseland, SK. He is survived by his daughter Lesley,
son-in-law David Guerrero and their son David and daughter Mari Elena of Regina. Also survived by
daughter-in-law Judy and her son Paul and daughter Jennifer of Vancouver, BC
as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada
and the United States.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Martha; son Byron; and brothers
Arthur, Wilmer and Everett. After high school in Luseland, he began a
teaching career in the town of Kerrobert
from 1931 to 1945. During that period he obtained his B.A. and B. Ed. Degrees
from the University
of Sask. mostly from
summer school and correspondence classes. Graduate study for a Doctorate in
Education was completed at the University
of California, Berkeley in 1947. He then worked from 1947
to 1955 as Director of Training at Weyburn and Moose Jaw
at the Sask. Training School. Next he joined the
staff of the Moose Jaw Teachers College, which later moved to Regina. The College
became part of the U. of Sask. and then the U. of Regina.
He was the first Dean of the Faculty in Regina
and then moved to the position of Professor. After retirement in 1978, he
continued association with the University as member of the Senate for a
number of years. In 1984, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the
University. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr.
Tompkins and to all the staff of 5A of the Regina General Hospital
for the wonderful and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memoriam

,? Passed away peacefully with her
family and caregivers by her side on October 28, 2003. Florence
was born in Luseland SK in 1912. She was one of seven children.
In 1933 she married Cleod Macdonald. They had a family and were happily
married until Cleod's death in 1954. Florence
returned to the workforce and was a fixture at the switchboard at SaskPower
until she retired. Florence
was predeceased by her husband, two children, and her siblings. She leaves to
mourn her stepson Alvin (Wyn) Macdonald and daughter Dorothy (Nick) Kobak.
She is also survived by the lights of her life, her grandchildren: Dianne,
Bob, Teresa, Tanya, Tricia, and Stephen. Florence was a proud great grandmother of:
Jackie, David, Kim, Tamara, Brandon, Nicholas, Mitchell, and Matthew. She
leaves many nieces and nephews with fond memories of Auntie Flo. Florence had many good
friends with whom she had many good times. Her grandchildren went for a sleep
over and often had four Grandmas to play with and spoil them instead of just
one. She traveled with friends to many distant places and enjoyed every one
of them. Florence
never lost her sense of humor. Even at ninety one she could zing you with a
one liner to make you laugh. We would like to thank the staff and nurses of
Parkside Extendicare for the care given to Florence during her stay there. A MEMORIAL

DONNELLY, ROMA HELEN (SMITH) Was born July 1, 1931 and passed
away on the morning of January 7, 2004 at The Saskatchewan Hospital, North Battleford. Roma was the beloved daughter of
William and Helen Smith, and step-mother Ethel. Roma leaves behind her sister
Carolyn Chernenkoff, and daughter Lynn Donnelly Robb, as well as niece Tam,
nephew Markel and three grandchildren, Andrew, Eric, and Kathleen Robb, Roma
grew up in Saskatoon, and received her nursing diploma from the Regina Grey
Nuns Hospital, in 1953. There she met her future husband while he was a
patient under her care. They married in 1955 and Roma gave birth to her
daughter Lynn later that year. Shortly after, she was hospitalized for
Schizoprenia, and eventually became a patient at the Saskatchewan Hospital
were she lived the rest of her life. Roma was active at the hospital,
enjoying her crafts, especially knitting. As she grew older, she became
involved in ""The Garden Group"". She enjoyed her outings
with family, but was always happy to return to the hospital, which had become
her home. Roma will be remembered by the staff as one of the last true
""characters"", and as a sweet and loving person by her
family. A warm and heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Sask. Hospital,
for the care of Roma. Those who would like to pay their respects can join the
staff and family at the hospital chapel at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 16 for
a Memorial Service, followed by a tea in the small cafeteria.

WOLOSHYN, PHYLLIS ROSE (NEE HOLIZKI)_ Phyllis was born in Bayard, Saskatchewan,
September 27, 1937. She was the first child of Joseph and Marie (Holman)
Holizki. Her early school years were spent at Taylorton and Bienfait, and
after completing her nurses training at the Grey Nuns in Regina,
Phyllis moved to North Battleford, where she
met her husband, Gerry. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother,
sister and friend. Her thoughtfulness and caring touched all who knew her.
Phyllis passed away on December 4, 2003, surrounded by her loving family.
Left to cherish Phyllis' memory are her husband Gerry; children: Bruce
(Ramona), Surrey, BC; Gayle (Robert) McLean, Campbell River, BC;
Bob (Amanda) Chino Hills, CA and grandchildren Spencer, Devon, David, Joseph
and Nathan. She is also survived by two sisters: Elaine (Barrie)
Murray, Estevan and Carol (Harvey)
Moran, Moose Jaw, and by three brothers: Ken

FORDEN, MARLENE JOY?
Marlene passed away peacefully with family by her side on February
5th, 2005 at the age of 57. She is survived by her loving husband Ken Forden,
Punnichy; children Brad (Carole Fujimoto) Forden, Ottawa; Shari Forden (Terry
Phillips), Saskatoon; Lyle Forden (Janel Reinhart), Saskatoon; parents, Jack
and Mary Kirkland, Unity; siblings, Clare (Lillian) Kirkland, Doris (Chris)
Jackson, Stan (Margaret) Kirkland, Ann Kirkland (Boris), Kathy (Greg) Vezina;
Ken's siblings and numerous nieces , nephews and friends. She was predeceased
by her parents-in-law, Norman and Irene Forden and brother-in-law, Tom
Forden. Marlene was born November 12th, 1947 in Wilkie,
SK and grew up on a farm near Unity, SK.
Motivated by her compassion to help others, she graduated in 1969 as a
registered nurse from the Saskatoon
City Hospital.
Marlene married Ken Forden August 19, 1972 and together they farmed and
raised a family near Punnichy,
SK. She worked as a RN at the Lestock Hospital until 1986 when she was
diagnosed with Mutliple Sclerosis. Not one to let things stop her, Marlene
showed her strength, courage and zest for life in the way she dealt with all
of the changes that she experienced due to MS. She was an individual known
for her sense of humour, keen wit, amazing mind and love for numbers. She was
an inspiration to all who knew her. The family expresses a thank you to the
staff at the Parkridge Centre and the numerous homecare providers over the
years. We also extend a special thank you to Twila Norheim for her loving
care and attention. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February
10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Albert The Great Parish, Punnichy. Interment will
follow at the St. George's

moved to Canada
with his wife Eva and two young sons in 1952. Settling first in Manitoba and later in Saskatchewan, he brought an exceptional
dedication and quiet wisdom to his position as a United Church Minister. A
person of rare and dignified humility, he was a positive force in the lives
of all who met him. We were privileged to have him with us for so long and
know that we will not see his kind again. He will be deeply missed by his
surviving brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, in Ireland and England; his sons Alan (Linda)
and Alastair (Mary) and his grandchildren, Brendan, Jenna, Rylan; Ashley and
Kavan. Thanks to all the home-care workers for their kindness while looking

CYBULSKI, Anna Cybulski (nee Trautmann), after celebrating her
90th birthday on September 7, 2005, left this life peacefully on Wednesday,
May 3, 2006 and reached her goal of eternal life under the mercy and love of
Jesus. She was predeceased in 2001 by her beloved husband, Edd. She is
survived by her children, Arleen Cornish, Wayne Cybulski and Sherri Cybulski
(Ron Gates); 7 grandchildren, David Cornish, Richard Cornish (Joanne), Tara
Semple (Jack), Holly Routley (Jason), Krista Cornish Scott (Brett), Miri
Schiller (James) and Kerri Morton (Daniel) and 22 great-grandchildren. Anna
was born at Revenue, Saskatchewan,
the seventh child of Vincent Trautmann and Magdalena Gerein. Her mother died
in the flu epidemic of 1918. Her father remarried and Anna became part of a
17 child blended family. She married Edd Cybulski in 1940 and they enjoyed 60
years together. During their marriage, they enjoyed curling, square dancing
and bridge. Anna was a homemaker and mother. She volunteered with the Red
Cross, the Marian Centre and in the late 1970's was a founder of the Blue
Mantle, a women's and children second hand clothing store, which she helped
operate on a volunteer basis for approximately 10 years. "Nanny"
will be missed by everyone who knew her. One of her greatest gifts was her
ability to promote self-worth and optimism in all of her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anna always had a strong faith and she
remembered her family, friends, neighbors and people in her church community
in her daily prayers. The family wishes to thank those who were able to share
a visit or say a prayer on her behalf during her last few months. The family
would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Palliative
Care Unit of the Pasqua

SANDERS, Leslie of Parkside Extendicare, Regina
and formerly of Ruthilda and Saskatoon,
SK passed away peacefully on
August 13, 2001 at the age of 93. Leslie was born at Gilbert Plains,
MB. At the age of three, an only child, he came with his parents to Ruthilda
where they had taken a homestead. He attended public and high school in
Ruthilda and Battleford. He married Jean Hilliard in January 1932 and they
had one son. They continued a successful farming operation in the Ruthilda
area until 1961. His organizational and leadership abilities were evident as
he was actively involved on the United Church Board, the Ruthilda School
and Biggar School Unit Boards as well as participating in Curling, Hockey,
Baseball and most other Community Activities. In 1961 they retired from
farming and moved to Saskatoon
where, for many years he became a dedicated golfer and curler. He also enjoyed
gardening, playing pool, cards and visiting with friends and acquaintances on
coffee row. Up to the end he was extremely proud of the achievements of his
family and was always up to date on family activities, current events and the
weather forecast. Predeceased by his wife of 62 years in 1994, Leslie is
survived and fondly remembered by son Garth (Sharon) and their children Brad (Lauren)
Sanders, Dori Sanders (Marie Bolt), Jill (Russ) Clarke, Allyson (Dean)
McDonald, Heather (Mike) Morhart, four great grandchildren and several
cousins, nephews and nieces. A private interment took place on August 24,
2001 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens,
Saskatoon.

LARSON, The passing of Edith Linnea Larson of Midale, Saskatchewan occurred
on Monday, April 21 at Mainprize Manor in Midale, at the age of 98 years.
Edith was born in Rutland,
North Dakota on January 28,
1905, the fourth child of Samuel and Anna Molberg. She was a loving mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother, a dedicated Christian, committed to

Loved and enjoyed by all who knew him, Robert (Bob) Knowles died
peacefully in his sleep in Ottawa
on November 5, 2003. Beloved husband of Marney Anderson. Bob was predeceased
by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Apted, in 1997. Born in Rutland,
Saskatchewan in 1920, Bob graduated from the
University of Saskatchewan with an MSc in
Agriculture. He made a career of using radio to bring news and information to
farmers around the world. Bob retired to Vernon in 1980. Always cheerful and kind,
he touched the hearts of all who met him. Bob will be greatly missed by a
large and loving family: his wife, his children, his stepchildren and his

BETTE, ATKINSON 1924 2006 Bette Atkinson (Aylward) passed away
suddenly on Saturday July 29, 2006 surrounded by family and friends. Bette
was born on December 16, 1924 to Edward and Bertha Aylward on the family farm
at Lydden, Saskatchewan. Along with her brothers and
sisters, Bette was an outstanding athlete. She graduated from high school in
Biggar in 1943 and immediately started Normal School in Saskatoon with her best friend Dorothy
Moore (Atkinson). At the age of 18, Bette started teaching school. She was a
spirited, gifted and much loved teacher. On November 17, 1951 Bette married
Roy Atkinson. Bette and Roy began farming at Springwater, Saskatchewan
in the spring of 1952. Together they raised five children. Her parents Ed and
Bertha Aylward, and brothers Joe, Frank, Alf and Bob and sisters Marie and
Helen, predeceased Bette.She leaves behind great memories of love, kindness
and a listening ear for her husband of 54 years Roy, her children Pat, Leta,
Bob (Bev Garrett) Wenda (Perry Kappel) Mike (Lisa De Vries) and her nine
grandchildren Gavin and Tyne Gardiner, Bailen, Shane, Jamieson, Ryan, Colton,
Kate Bette and Danny Atkinson as well as dozens of nieces and nephews and
sisters-in-law and brother-inlaw. Bette was a farmer at heart and had a green
thumb. Her home was full of plants and she was known for her big gardens with
lots of flowers, She was an expert jam and cookie maker. She always made time
for coffee or tea for whoever came to visit and her grandchildren knew the
corner cupboard to find the homemade cookies. Bette was the foundation of her
family. She insisted that family members were not only responsible and
accountable to themselves but to others as well. Her passion for honesty and
equality defined who she was. It is this passion that inspired all those who
knew her and was inherited by her children and grandchildren. She will
continue to influence her family for generations to come. She will be with us
forever. A Memorial Reception in Celebration of Bette's life will take place
on Friday August 4th 2006 in the Battleford Room at the Bessborough Hotel
between the hours of 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm with a brief program at 3:00 pm.

John was predeceased by his father, Joseph Fahl, and by his father-in-law and
mother-in-law Alexis and Marie Fagnou. John attended schools in Wilkie and
Scott and received his journeyman mechanic certification in Saskatoon. He worked mainly in the
agriculture industry finishing his career as Foreman of the Research Station
at Scott, SK. As a young man, John was a talented
hockey player and baseball player. He was a gifted and patient coach as his
boys moved through their hockey and baseball years. He also introduced all
three of his children to the great sport of curling. In later years he enjoyed
playing slow pitch and golf, and he even tackled downhill skiing. John was
very community-minded. His service included many years as a town councillor
and Mayor. He filled executive positions with the Scott Curling Club and the
Scott Recreation Board, and sat on various committees. His years of
retirement were spent gardening, travelling, and enjoying seasonal farm work.
Attending the Brier or the Scott Tournament of Hearts was eagerly
anticipated. Visiting family, especially the grandchildren, brought him much
joy. And he never lost his quick wit and sense of humor. The family wishes to
thank the doctors, nurses and physio-therapists at St. Paul's Hospital in the I.C.U. and the
Fifth Floor Surgery Special Care Unit, for their kindness and tender care.
Prayers will be said Friday, April 19, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. in St. James
Catholic Church, Wilkie, SK. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 20 at 10:30
a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Interment at a later date. In lieu of

of Regina.
Predeceased by her son Bill in 1987, and her husband Murray in 2003. Wanda is
survived by her son Clay of London, Ontario, sister Billie (Garth) Boesch of
Rathdrum, Idaho.
Wanda was born in Scott Sask., but spent most of her early years in Wilkie
where her father owned the Gladys
Hotel. Wanda's
education was obtained in Wilkie, Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in
Wilcox and Luther College in Regina.
Following High School she attended Robertson
Secretarial School
in Saskatoon where she was employed by the
Hudson Bay Co. Wanda married Murray in 1945 at
CFB Petawawa, Ontario and lived in Saskatoon, Calgary and
Swift Current before they settled in Regina
in 1951. Wanda was very active in Lakeview
United Church
where she taught Sunday school, served on the Board of Stewards and the Unit
activities of the U.C.W. Wanda was Regent of James Henderson Chapter IODE and
served on Municipal. She was also a President of Engineering Wives of Regina.
An active volunteer for the Red Cross, Wanda served on the Executive and was
Area Convener for the United Way
canvass for many years. While living in Swift Current, Wanda was President of
Nu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. An avid curler Wanda was a member of the
Wascana and Callie Curling Clubs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made

MCINTYRE, Rev. Dr. Roy 1913-2003 Rev. Dr. Roy McIntyre passed
away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary
on Wednesday April 16, 2003, a month after his 90th birthday. He was
surrounded by the loving presence of his son David; his caregivers, Lorraine and Diana;
his dear neighbour Therese; and kind members of the hospital staff. Roy was born on March 13, 1913 in a log cabin in West Guilford, ON.
Two years later his parents moved to a homestead near Ridgedale, SK.
At age seventeen, he began studies at Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, AB,
graduating in 1934. He joined the Christian & Missionary Alliance in
1935, pastoring churches in Senlac, SK, Fort St. John, BC, Moose Jaw, SK (where he met and married Evelyn, the love of his
life), Victoria, BC
and Saskatoon, SK. In 1960 he moved to Calgary to become the Superintendent of the
Western Canadian District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, a
ministry he cherished for twenty-one years. Respected by all who knew him,
his life reflected a blend of industry, strength and gentleness that matured
into a radiant sweetness in his latter years. He is survived by his son David
L. McIntyre of Regina; a brother Frank
McIntyre of Edmonton; and two sisters, Beryl
Campbell and Muriel King of Kamloops,
BC. He was predeceased by his
loving wife Evelyn, 2000; his parents, Greta, 1986 and Owen, 1964; daughter
Ruth, 1951; brother Wesley McIntyre, 1976; and two sisters, Alba Gleddie,

VOSS, Jean Margaret, age 90, born on September 13, 1914 at Richardson, SK,
passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 10, 2005 at Sunset
Extendicare. Predeceased by her husband Albert Karl Voss; parents Arthur
Smith and Mary Findlay McLean; brothers Roderick Alan McLean and John Findlay
McLean; sister Lillian Lindsay Wobeser (McLean).
Jean is survived by her only son Douglas Albert Voss, wife Linda (Cheston)
and grandchildren Jeremy, Andrea, and Courtney Voss, all of Brantford, Ontario.
Jean was married to Albert on May 31, 1946, built a farmstead and farmed in
the Grand Coulee/ Regina area from 1946 until
retirement then relocated to Regina
in 1984. When Jean was a young age, the McLean family moved from Richardson to the
Evesham, SK area to farm and then returned permanently to farm in the
Regina/Grand Coulee area in 1936. Jean received her elementary education in Richardson, SK, Grade
11 in Senlac, SK in 1931 and finally a business
certificate from the Regina School of Commerce in 1940. Jean and Albert were
longtime members of the Grand
Coulee United Church and were active in many
community functions. Jean attended and served in many Women's Group
activities including UCW and WI. Other interests included family, friends,
knitting, reading, news and issues affecting the prairies, and travel.

on May 12, 1913. She and her husband John ran a successful dairy farm at
Grenfell and were active in the dairy organizations. She was a recognized
Saskatchewan Artist who love to paint prairie scenes of wildflowers. Her
paintings are currently hanging in galleries across Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her
parents, Sarah Elizabeth Flavell (Grubb) and ALbert Flavell, her husband John
Hubbard, her brother Richard Albert Flavell and one grandson, David Allan

BETTE, ATKINSON 1924_2006 Bette Atkinson (Aylward) passed away
suddenly on Saturday July 29, 2006 surrounded by family and friends. Bette
was born on December 16, 1924 to Edward and Bertha Aylward on the family farm
at Lydden, Saskatchewan. Along with her brothers and
sisters, Bette was an outstanding athlete. She graduated from high school in
Biggar in 1943 and immediately started Normal School in Saskatoon with her best friend Dorothy
Moore (Atkinson). At the age of 18, Bette started teaching school. She was a
spirited, gifted and much loved teacher. On November 17, 1951 Bette married
Roy Atkinson. Bette and Roy began farming at Springwater, Saskatchewan
in the spring of 1952. Together they raised five children. Her parents Ed and
Bertha Aylward, and brothers Joe, Frank, Alf and Bob and sisters Marie and
Helen, predeceased Bette.She leaves behind great memories of love, kindness
and a listening ear for her husband of 54 years Roy, her children Pat, Leta,
Bob (Bev Garrett) Wenda (Perry Kappel) Mike (Lisa De Vries) and her nine
grandchildren Gavin and Tyne Gardiner, Bailen, Shane, Jamieson, Ryan, Colton,
Kate Bette and Danny Atkinson as well as dozens of nieces and nephews and
sisters-in-law and brother-inlaw. Bette was a farmer at heart and had a green
thumb. Her home was full of plants and she was known for her big gardens with
lots of flowers, She was an expert jam and cookie maker. She always made time
for coffee or tea for whoever came to visit and her grandchildren knew the
corner cupboard to find the homemade cookies. Bette was the foundation of her
family. She insisted that family members were not only responsible and
accountable to themselves but to others as well. Her passion for honesty and
equality defined who she was. It is this passion that inspired all those who
knew her and was inherited by her children and grandchildren. She will
continue to influence her family for generations to come. She will be with us
forever. A Memorial Reception in Celebration of Bette's life will take place
on Friday August 4th 2006 in the Battleford Room at the Bessborough Hotel
between the hours of 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm with a brief program at 3:00 pm.

She is the last remaining child of Clifford and Nina Miller. Predeceased by
daughter-in-law Patricia Gray (Fraser), nephews Gerald McLean and Terrance
Miller and grandson Shawn Lewchuk. She is lovingly remembered by her husband
of fifty-four years William Kenneth Gray and her children: Nina (Ed) Crumley,
Linda (Rick) Dietrich, Sheila (Clarence) Leier, Scott (Yvonne) Gray, Kerry
Gray (Val Burke); Grandchildren: Robert Crumley, Kristopher (Merianne) and

Valida grew up in Rutland,
where she completed her schooling. She spent many hours in the family general
store along side her father. In 1948, she met and married Ken Gray. Family
always came first, and throughout the course of their marriage they raised
five children. She enjoyed many hobbies including dancing, bridge, bowling,
knitting, ceramics, and many more. Her love of baking will always be remembered.
She will always be remembered as a dedicated, faithful, and loving wife,

MOATS, Ronald David Moats passed away peacefully on Thursday,
July 27, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Ron was predeceased by his wife Florence, brother Wilber
and sister Alice. He is survived by his sister Ann, children, Jim, Murray
(Brenda), Glenn (Barb), Marian (Bill) and Ian. He is lovingly remembered by
his eleven grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ron was
born and raised in Riceton. He attended the University of Saskatchewan
earning his Bachelor of Arts. His studies also included music, as he was an
accomplished pianist and frequent entertainer at community events. He was an
active supporter of the N.D.P. Ron married and became a family man. He took
over the family farm outside Regina.
Later on in life, Ron was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease which he handled
with dignity. Many thanks to the staff of the Lakeside Care Home in Wolseley
,who cared for him with such diligence and compassion. We cannot help but
feel saddened by the loss of this talented and loving man, however; we are
grateful for his life and the memories he left us. A Prayer Vigil will be
held on Monday, July 31, 2006 from 7:00 P.M. ~ 9:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Lee
Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave.,

A Celebration of Ron's life will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 2:00 P.M

is survived by one brother Lu; sisters Louise, Irene, Eleonor (Bob), Toni,

member of the CWL and a volunteer at the Pasqua Hospital
and Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. She enjoyed her time at The Bentley in Moose Jaw, playing cards
