 William WHITTLE was born c1793 in Chard, Somerset. He was a millwright and is listed in Pigot's 1844 Directory for Crimchard.

William died in either 1846.

Mary Ann was née ATKINS, born Halesworth, Suffolk c1805.

She was still alive in 1871, aged 66, an annuitant.

Leah b. 1824, Chard. Never married. Moved to Lancs between 1851 and 1861 to work in service. Pendleton in 1861, Worcester from 1871 to her death in 1906 aged 81.
William b. 1826, Chard. Died 1848.
Sarah b. 1828, Chard. A Sarah Atkins WHITTLE died in 1847. This *may* be her.
Samuel b. 1831, Chard. Possibly died in 1851.
Walter b. c1833, Chard. Married Jane Fry SHINER in 1857, with whom he had 2 children, Leah and Sarah. Wife Jane died in 1866. He remarried in 1868, in Ryde, IOW, to Caroline CHIVERTON. They had 7 children and were still living in Ryde in 1901. Walter was a plumber and glazier.
Henry b. c1836, Chard. Worked as a bookbinder. Married Sarah BURT in 1857 in Wimborne, Dorset. They had four children, and by 1871 they had moved to Preston, Lancs where he was still living, widowed, in 1901, Sarah died before 1891. Their sons William & Herbert were involved in watchmaking. Also 2 daughters Anie and Emily.
Edwin b. c1838, Chard. Was a police constable. Married Elizabeth MANDEVILLE in Shoreditch, London, on 6 Jul 1866. They had 8 children.
Mary Ann b. c1842, Chard. Married Samuel SHINER in Chard in 1867. He was her brother in law.
