The death of a 17-year-old Sheboygan boy who suffered head injuries when he fell from a car at South 16th Street and Riverdale early Sunday morning has been ruled accidental and a traffic fatality.

A ruling in the death of Roger Alan Gartman, of 2001 S. 13th St., was issued today by Sheboygan County Coroner Robert Sertich Jr.

Sertich said blood tests revealed that the youth had not consumed alcohol. Further blood tests to check for other substances are being done at a Madison laboratory, Sertich said.

Few details of the incident were available today from the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department, which is continuing its investigation.

Authorities did say that Gartman had jumped onto the trunk of a car driven by Vicki L. Meggars, of 1633 Riverdale Ave., apparently while the car was parked on the driveway of a residence.

He then fell off the vehicle as it was traveling along the street, after it had left the driveway, striking his head on the pavement.

At 12:07 a.m., the sheriff's department was notified of a person lying on the roadway.

The youth was taken to St. Nicholas Hospital by Orange Cross ambulance, then to Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee by a Flight for Life helicopter. He died there at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Deputy Inspector Robert Thurman of the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department said he hoped the investigation would develop more information concerning the incident.

But as of this morning, according to Thurman, "how he got onto the car and why he fell remains under investigation."

Gartman is the 11th person to die in a Sheboygan County traffic mishap so far this year, compared to 12 on this date in 1984.

Roger was born March 21, 1968, in Sheboygan, a son of Richard and Susan Muehlbauer Gartman.

He attended Franklin and St. Peter Claver Catholic Schools and was to have been a senior at South High School this fall, where he was a member of the football team.

He was a part-time employee at Jake's Liquor Store and was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and its 1985 confirmation class, Catholic Youth Organization and Boy Scout Troop 3816.

Surviving are his parents, of Sheboygan; three brothers, Charlie, Paul and Philip, all at home; two sisters, Alissa and Rachel, both at home; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael L. Hess.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Claver Church, with the Revs. David Braun, pastor, Dennis Witz, assistant pastor, Patrick Heppe, Milwaukee, a former assistant pastor of St. Peter Claver, and Deacon Peter Burns of St. Peter Claver, concelebrants.

Family rites will be held at Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and until the time of services Wednesday.

A parish Bible wake will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Anna Gartman, 69, wife of W. F. Gartman, died at her home, 1512 Indiana avenue, at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, after an illness of several months' duration.

Mrs. Gartman was born in the town of Wilson on January 1, 1861. Her marriage with W. F. Gartman took place in this city and the couple had lived here since. Mrs. Gartman is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mr. Ed. Holm, Mrs. Joseph McGovern, Mrs. Paul Langheimich, Jr., and Mrs. Carl Axnis, all of Milwaukee and two sons, Hugh Gartman, this city and George of Ellwood, Iowa. Seventeen grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters and five brothers also survive.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ramm Funeral Home. Rev. Edward Krause of Immanuel Lutheran church will officiate and interment will be in the Lutheran cemetery.

William F. Gartmann, 90, formerly of 516 W. Wausau Ave., Wausau, died in the Wausau hospital Tuesday.

Mr. Gartmann was a machine operator at Crestline prior to retirement.

He was born Dec. 2, 1889, in Sheboygan County, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Gartmann. On May 26, 1915, in town of Wein, he married Elsbeth Rahn. She died Jan. 14, 1972.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. Clarence Harms will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.

Friends may call at the Helke West Chapel, Wausau, after 3 p.m. Thursday.

LeRoy Gartman, 75, who was a Sheboygan County supervisor and a City of Sheboygan alderman for a total of 27 years in public service, died this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital after a long illness.

For the past year, he lived at 20 W. Clifford St., in Plymouth. Before that he lived at Crystal Lake.

He was born Sept. 13, 1910, in Sheboygan, a son of Otto and Caroline Thimmig Gartman. He attended Franklin School and graduated from Sheboygan Central School in 1929. He attended LaCrosse State Teachers College.

His marriage to Margaret Engelhard of LaCrosse took place March 7, 1931, in Winona, Minn. Mrs. Gartman died September 3, 1983.

Mr. Gartman, known as "Curly" to his friends and constituents, represented the city's southside 20th District on the County Board from 1962 to 1974. He was elected board chairman for a two-year term in 1972, having been vice-chairman for 2 1/2 years prior to that time.

He was chairman of the board's personnel committee from 1962 to 1972 and also served as vice chairman of the resources committee, in 1966.

His son, Gene Gartman, joined him on the county board in 1965, when he was elected to represent the 11th Ward.

While on the County Board, Mr. Gartman was appointed to serve on the Unified Board in 1975, a position he held until the present. He served as the Unified Board's Finance Committee vice chairman from 1979 to 1983 and, in 1984, became the chairman.

In February of 1974 he chose to leave the County Board after retiring earlier from Armira Corp. {Armour Leather}, where he was once president of the Wisconsin Leather Workers Local 47.

He moved to the Crystal Lake area and, in 1979, after six years in "retirement," he ran once more for the County Board and was elected to represent the 24th District which includes the Town of Rhine and the village of Elkhart Lake.

At Crystal Lake, he became a member of the local Advancement Association.

Mr. Gartman began public service in 1941 when he was elected to the Sheboygan Common Council. He continued to represent the Fourth Ward for 14 years. During this period he served as president of the Council, 1946 through 1948. He also made two unsuccessful bids for the mayoral post in 1951 and 1955.

Mr. Gartman was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth.

He was a member of Elkhart Lake Lions Club and had served as treasurer. He also belonged to the Sheboygan County Historical Society.

During World War II, he was a member of the War Manpower Commission. Also, during the 1940s he was a director of the Kiddies Camp {Camp Evergreen}.

He was the first president of Sheboygan Town and Country Golf Club.

Surviving are two sons, Gene of Sheboygan and Terry of Winter Park, Fla.; one daughter Mrs. William {Mary Jo} Beniger of Sheboygan; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass is tentatively planned for Monday morning at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, Sheboygan. Complete funeral arrangements will be announced Saturday by the Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home, Sheboygan.

Frederick W. Gartman, aged 84, former resident of this city, died Sunday evening at the home of a daughter, Mr. Edward Holms, 4708 W. Lyod street, Milwaukee, where he had resided for the past two years.

Mr. Gartman was born in Germany, Feb. 13, 1848, and came to this country with his parents at the age of 17 years, the family settling in town Wilson. Later he came to this city and spent practically all his life here.

Survivors are: six children, Mr. Edward Holms, Mrs. Charles Axnic, Mrs. Joe McGovern and Mrs. Paul Longheinrich, all of Milwaukee; George of Ellwood, Ia., and Hugo of this city; 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a brother, August of this city.

The body will be brought to the Ramm Funeral home in this city, where funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Lutheran cemetery.

The funeral of Frederick W. Gartman, former resident of this city, who died at Milwaukee Sunday, was held here Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Ramm Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward Krause of Immanuel Lutheran church officiated.

Funeral services will be held Sunday for Mrs. Amanda Gardner, 80, Town of Lima, who died Thursday at Rocky Knoll where she had been a patient for three months.

The former Amanda Behr was born May 30, 1895 in the Town of Greenbush, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Behr.

She was married to George {Dynamite Bill} Gardner in November, 1920, at Waukegan, Ill. The couple operated taverns at Waldo and Elkhart Lake.

Mrs. Gardner was employed by Laundry Workers, Milwaukee, for 35 years, retiring in 1969.

Mr. Gardner died Oct. 12, 1966.

She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church and the Laundry Workers Union 3008, Milwaukee.

Survivors are two sisters, Mr. Minnie Mallmann, Town of Sheboygan Falls, and Mrs. Clara Wichmann, Town of Lima, and a brother, Herman, Lima.

Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Caroline M. Gartman, 65, wife of Otto F. Gartman, 2335 S. Tenth street, died Sunday evening at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital.

Born August 31, 1884, in the town of Wilson, the daughter of Moritz and Marie Thimmig, she attended rural schools and was married to Otto Gartman on May 2, 1902 {sic, should be 1903}, at Trinity Lutheran church in the town of Wilson.

She had been in ill health for the past 10 years.

Survivors are her husband; one son, LeRoy; three grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Gartman, Boulder, Colo., Mrs. Emma Mattes, Kiel, and Mrs. Herman Gartman, town of Wilson.

Her parents, four brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran church with the Rev. W. W. Laesch, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made on the family lot in Lutheran cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline M. Gartman, wife of Otto Gartman, 2335 S. Tenth street, who passed away at Sheboygan Memorial hospital Sunday evening, were held at Our Savior's Lutheran church at 2 p. m. Thursday. The Rev. W. W. Laesch officiated and burial was made in Lutheran cemetery.

During the services at church Mrs. Oscar Langner and Mrs. Harvey Halverson sang "Oh How Blest Are Ye Whose Toils Are Ended" and "Abide With Me". They were accompanied by Mrs. Frederick Kallien.

Edna L. Grunwald, 86, a resident of Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Plymouth, died at the facility, Tues., Feb. 21, 1995.

The former Edna Gartman was born March 18, 1908 in the Town of Lima, a daughter of the late Val and Anna Thielman Gartman. Edna attended schools in the Town of Wilson.

On June 5, 1926, Ewald Grunwald and Edna Gartman were united in marriage. Together, they operated the Lakeside Cheese Factory for 11 years, later they operated the Johnsonville Cheese Factory for 27 years. Ewald preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1982. Edna continued to work for Laack's Hall of Johnsonville for over 25 years as a cook.

Edna was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Howards Grove and St. Paul's Ladies Aid, where she was a past president.

A funeral service will be held Friday, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Howards Grove, with the Rev. Jonathan Rossman officiating. Ewald Grunwald, 83, a former cheesemaker in the Towns of Wilson and Sheboygan Falls, died Sunday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks.

He was born in Door County April 13, 1898, a son of Gotthielf and Ida Meister Grunwald. He attended district school and Watertown College.

On June 5, 1926, he married Edna Gartman in the Town of Wilson. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 1981.

Mr. Grunwald owned and operated the Lakeside Cheese Factory in the Town of Wilson for 11 years, and owned and operated the Johnsonville Cheese Factory in the Town of Sheboygan Falls for 27 years, retiring in 1962.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Howards Grove, where he served as president and on several committees, and was a member of the church's Couples Club.

Mr. Grunwald served as secretary and treasurer of the Sheboygan County Cheesemakers Association for many years, and was a member and past president of the Plymouth Golden Agers.

Survivors are his wife, two sons, Milton, of Black River, and Harold, of the Town of Sheboygan Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Carl {Doris} Mueller, of Onalaska; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Hilda Sebald, of Sheboygan. Two sisters, two brothers and a grandchild preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Howards Grove. The Rev. Henry Juroff, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan.

Mrs. Adolph Gartman, 50, a former resident of the town of Wilson, died Saturday evening at her home in Denver, Colo., after a protracted illness.

Nee Viola Herbst, she was born November 8, 1900, in the town of Wilson, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Herbst. She was married to Adolph Gartman April 30, 1927.

The couple made their home on the Gartman homestead, five miles south of Sheboygan, until five and one-half years ago. Since that time they lived at Denver.

Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Howard Steele of Chicago; four brothers, Harry, Melvin, Chester and Henry Herbst of Sheboygan; and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Langenhahn of Newton and Mrs. Elmer Moenning and Mrs. Elmer Bock of the town of Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Moore Funeral home in Denver. Interment will be made in Brown Hill cemetery at Denver.

Funeral services for Richard A. Gartman, 77, formerly of Sheboygan, were held in Seattle, Wash., where he died a week ago.

A son of the late August and Anna Gartman, he was born in Sheboygan, Jan. 22, 1891.

He married Grace Eichhorn of Sheboygan Falls in 1915. The couple moved to Seattle in 1942.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Hilbert Wolfert {Olive}, Seattle; a son, Warren, in Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Bennink and Mrs. Meta De Sombre, both of Sheboygan.

William Gartmann, 87, died at 1:30 a.m. today at the Lindow home, 1306 South Seventeenth street.

Mr. Gartmann was born in Germany on April 13, 1844 and came to America with his parents in 1866, settling in Sheboygan. During that year Mr. Gartmann left for the copper country in the Lake Superior region. He returned to Sheboygan in 1870 and was united in marriage here with Miss Wilhelmina Kupsch. In 1876 the couple located in the town of Wilson, where they resided for thirty years, after which they returned to Sheboygan. Mrs. Gartmann preceded her husband in death during March of 1921.

He is survived by two brothers, August and Fred Gartmann of this city.

Mrs. Lilah I. Gartman, 77 of Route 1, Oostburg, died at the home of her brother, Edgar Rammer, of Route 1, Waldo, early Sunday morning.

The former Lilah Rammer was born in Sheboygan Feb. 26, 1904, a daughter of Henry and Ida Roehrborn Rammer. She attended area schools.

On March 4, 1924, she married Anthony Gartman in Sheboygan. He died Aug. 29, 1958.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and a church organist for many years. She also belonged to the Wilson Homemakers Club and Sheboygan Falls Knitting Club.

Surviving are four sons, Lloyd of Town of Wilson, Leonard of rural Oostburg, Lois {sic}, at home, and Reuben of Fort Atkinson; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and a great-grandchild; two brothers, Wilbert of rural Sheboygan and Edgar of rural Waldo; and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Karst of rural Sheboygan.

A sister preceded her in death.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson, with the Rev. Arthur Anaker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

Rodney was born Feb. 21, 1941 in Sheboygan, a son of Harold C. and Jeanette Goell Gartmann. Rodney attended Town of Wilson schools.

On Aug. 8, 1959 Rodney was united in marriage to Sharon Wolff at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.

For 25 years Rodney has been employed at Kohler Co. where he has been a Union Steward with UAW 833 for many years. Rodney has been Town of Wilson Constable for the past 18 years and has also farmed in the Town of Wilson.

Rodney was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club, The Sheboygan County Constable Association, The Wisconsin Towns Association and the "99" Club. Rodney was a former member of the Town of Wilson Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife Sharon; two sons, David J. Gartmann of Sheboygan and Jon B. at home; two daughters, Mrs. Steven {Dawn} Roe and Mrs. Bruce {Debi} Kaboord both of Town of Wilson; four grandchildren, Joshua, Kyle, Lucas and Victoria; his parents, Harold and Jeanette Gartmann of Sheboygan; two brothers, Alan H. Gartmann of Sheboygan and William R. Gartmann of Town of Wilson. A memorial fund has been establilshed in Rodney's name.

Wilbert Gartman, 70, of 421 S. Eighth St., Oostburg, died Sunday at St. Nicholas Hospital.

He was born May 24, 1911, in the Town of Wilson, a son of John and Anna Daehnert Gartman.

On Nov. 21, 1934, he married Hazel Veldboom at the home of her parents in Ozaukee County.

He was a brass machinist at Kohler Co. for 35 years.

He was a member of First Reformed Church, Oostburg, and the Kohler Quarter Century Club.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Calvin, Robert and Glenn, all of Oostburg; 12 grandchildren; and one brother, Harold A. of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church, where a family service will be held at 1:15 p.m. in the lounge room.

The Rev. William Bouwer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, Cedar Grove.

Mrs. Fred {Marie} Grasse, 63, of 2130 Henry St., died at St. Nicholas Hospital late Monday evening, following a prolonged illness.

She was born in Sheboygan on Sept. 6, 1910, daughter of the late William and Mary Hoehnke. She attended Franklin School and married Mr. Grasse at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Grasse was a member of Bethlehem Church.

Survivng are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Gaylord {Gloria} Schmidt of Sheboygan; a grandson, and a sister, Mrs. Viola Leicht of Sheboygan.

She was preceded by two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Finnigsmier, pastor of Bethlehem Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

Milton G. Grunwald, 70, 5527 Lonesome Pine Road, died on Monday, April 24, 1995 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, following a courageous battle with heart disease and cancer.

Milton was born Sept. 6, 1924 in the Town of Wilson, a son of the late Ewald and Amelia Badtke Grunwald. Shortly after his birth, his mother died and he was raised by his stepmother, the late Edna Grunwald. He spent his youth in the Forestville and Johnsonville area. He was a graduate of Howards Grove High School.

On Nov. 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Paasch in the Town of Wilson. From 1946 until 1950, he operated the Greenbaum Cheese Factory in Sheboygan Falls. From 1950 until his retirement in 1986, he was employed as a sheet metal welder by various firms in the Sheboygan area, including the Ted Kuck Co.

Milton was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

Milton was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served in various offices. For 44 years, he was a volunteer with the Black River Fire Department.

Milton is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four daughters, Barbara Sommerfeldt, Denver, Colo.; Susan {Randy} Charles, Wisconsin Rapids; Betty {Tony} Torres, San Diego, Calif.; Gail {John} Bernardi, Milwaukee; six granddaughters, two grandsons, four step-grandchildren; a brother, Harold {Vernetta} Grunwald, Howards Grove; a sister, Doris {Carl} Mueller, Onalaska; nieces, nephews and many good friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Funeral services for Milton will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 27, at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arthur Dingel, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery. Marvin E. Gosse, 60, of 121 Grafton Ct., Kohler, died Sunday afternoon at St. Nicholas Hospital.

He was born in the Town of Lima, Sept. 18, 1917, a son of Hilda Hetzel and the late John Gosse. He attended school at Six Corners.

On Aug. 26, 1939, he married Esther Jankow at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson.

Mr. Gosse was employed at the Kohler Co. Farm from 1942 to 1963 and also worked at the Kohler Co. from 1961 until retirement in 1977 due to ill health.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Kohler.

Survivors are his wife; his mother, Hilda, of Route 3, Sheboygan Falls; two sons, Roger of Sheboygan and Robert of Sheboygan Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth {Rogene} Bruckner of Kohler; eight grandchildren, and one brother, Arleigh, of Sheboygan Falls. He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kohler, the Rev. Herbert Baker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Kohler Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday, until 10 a.m. Wednesday and at the church from 11 a.m. until time of services.

Mrs. Gottleib Goldman, 69, of 501 Euclid Ave., died Monday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for one week.

The former Mae Drews, she was born Feb. 17, 1912, in Sheboygan, a daughter of Ferdinand and Lily Drews.

She attended Longfellow School and Sheboygan Vocational School.

On June 9, 1934, she and Gottlieb {Goldy} Goldman of Sheboygan were married in Sheboygan.

The couple resided in Oshkosh for two years and then returned to Sheboygan to make their home.

She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and its Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne {Kay} Dickfoss of Sheboygan and Mrs. Richard {Kathleen} Welsch of Elkhart Lake; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Carita Rusin of Tulsa, Okla. She was preceded in death by one sister.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ebenezer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Clarence Stangohr, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Friends may call at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels from 5 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday and at the church from noon until the time of service.

Gottlieb {Goldy} Goldman, 88, a resident of the Sunny Ridge Nursing Home since 1990, died there Sunday afternoon, Aug. 9, 1998, with his family at his side.

He was born Oct. 27, 1909 in Collins, WI. On June 9, 1934 he married Mae Goldman of Sheboygan. The couple resided in Oshkosh for two years and then returned to Sheboygan where they made their home in the 500 block of Euclid Ave. Mrs. Goldman preceded him in death on May 4, 1981.

Gottlieb worked as an upholsterer at American Chair for most of his life. During World War II, he worked at the shipyard in Hammond, Indiana. He was active in the upholsterers' union, serving as their treasurer for many years. He was also very active in Ebenezer Lutheran Church as a bell ringer and member of the choir and served as their financial secretary from 1937 to 1980. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Wayne Dickfoss and Kathleen and Richard Welsch, all of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Cindy {Larry} Ritz{?}, Christy {Thomas} Brunette, Anthony {Sue} Welsch and Jonathan Welsch and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter in 1989.

Private funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Martinho Q. Sander, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Christopher David Goedde, 21, of Random Lake, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 23, 2001.

The beloved son of David E. and Debra L. {Stauber} Goedde, Chris was born May 1, 1979, in Sheboygan. He graduated from Random Lake High School in 1998 where he played offensive tackle for the Rams.

He was presently employed at the Adell Co-op and had also worked at Badger Hatchery. He took great pride in being a member of the Adell Volunteer Fire Dept. and First Responders. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sherman Center. He enjoyed spending time with his family and always looked forward to hunting and fishing with his Grandpa Frank.

Chris is survived by his parents, David and Debra of Elkhart Lake; three sisters, Dawn {Jim} Meerdink of Random Lake, April and Brenda of Elkhart Lake; his paternal grandmother, Bernice Goedde of Town of Herman; numerous aunts and uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank, Jr. and Beverly Stauber, and his paternal grandfather, Victor Goedde.

Funeral services for Chris will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, at St. John Lutheran Church, W5406 Highway SS, Sherman Center. The Rev. Bryan Osladil, pastor, and the Rev. Elmer Lisch, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Belgium, will co-officiate. Visitation will take place at the church, on Monday, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. He will be laid to rest in Wildwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Gartman, widow of a pioneer Sheboygan County cheesemaker, died early Thursday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital after a protracted illness.

Nee Lena Wolf, she was born Feb. 22, 1869, at Holy Cross in the Town of Belgium. Her marriage to Mr. Gartman was solemnized at Holy Cross on April 21, 1891.

The couple resided in the Town of Wilson where Mr. Gartman operated a cheese factory at Weeden's Station until 1813 {sic} when they came to Sheboygan to reside.

Mr. Gartman died Oct. 2, 1943.

Mrs. Gartman, a resident of the Anna M. Reiss Home for the past ?? years, was a faithful member of Holy Name Church and the St. Ann's Altar and Christian Mothers' Society of the parish.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. George {Leona} Thull, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. George {Henrietta} Fredricks and Mrs. Roy {Madeline} Head, Sheboygan; two sons, Walter F., Sheboygan, and Dr. William J., Milwaukee; 16 grandchildren {Gertrude, Walter Jr and Gerald Gartman; Thomas, Jerome, Kenneth and Helen Head; Donald and Wesley Thull; Jack Hammes; Roman, Sylvester, Mary Ann and Ruth Mersberger} and 22 grandchildren {sic}.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Louis, and a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Mersberger.

Members of St. Ann's Altar and Christian Mothers' Society of Holy Name parish will recite the rosary at the funeral home at 7:30 o'clock this evening.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the hour of services.

Mrs. Gartman Is Called To Rest At Hospital Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Gartman, who passed away Monday evening at the St. Nicholas hospital, will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the Robert H. Deceased was born September 25, 1868, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Braun. She was married June 26, 1888, to Charles A. Gartman, Town of Wilson. Her husband preceded her in death in 1919. She was a faithful member of St. Ann's Altar and Mother society, and Missionary society of Holy Name congregation.

Survivors are two sons, Charles, of Ringle, Wisconsin, and Frank of Waukesha; six daughters, Mrs. Jacob Vande Loo, Mrs. Clemens Acker, Mrs. Frank Kotnick of Sheboygan; Sister Mary Fidelia of Superior, Wisconsin, and Rose and Eleanor at home; two brothers, Albert and Anton Braun of Sheboygan; one sister, Mrs. Jacob Etzkorn of town of Wilson, and fourteen grandchildren. One brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services for the late Herman Gartman, Sr., of the town of Wilson, who died Monday night at his home from a stroke of apoplexy, will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home, and at 2 o'clock from the Trinity Lutheran church in Wilson. Rev. Joseph Cesch will officiate and interment will be made in the church cemetery. Undertaker Fessler is in charge.

Fred W. Gartman, Prominent Farmer, Dies At Hingham

Fred W. Gartman, farmer living a half mile west of Hingham, passed away Tuesday afternoon at home after a two months illness with asthma. Mr. Gartman was well known in Sheboygan county, having lived here all his life. He was prominent in agricultural circles and always progressive in the support of improvements for the county.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena Gartman, his two children at home, Ilma and Arno, besides numerous brothers and sisters. Born in the town of Wilson he later moved to his farm in the town of Lyndon.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 o'clock Friday afternoon from the house, the Lutheran minister officiating.

Funeral services for Fred W. Gartman, who died at 12:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon following an illness of about six weeks with asthma, will be held from the home in the town of Lyndon at 12:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Mr. Gartman was a prominent farmer of Sheboygan county, living a half mile west of Hingham.

He was born in the town of Wilson February 23, 1866, his parents being the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gartman, Sr. On Nov. 23, 1895, he was married to Miss Lena Fritsch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Fritsch of town Wilson. They lived on a farm in town Wilson until nine years ago when they moved to the present home in town Lyndon.

Survivors are Mrs. Lena Gartman, two children, Ilma 24 and Arno, 15, at home, besides two brothers, William G. of Sheboygan and Henry of town Wilson, five sisters, Mrs. Fred Gartman, Mrs. Aug. Zimmermann of town Wilson, Mrs. Fred Paasch of Sturgeon Bay, Mrs. Andreeas Koch of Sheboygan and Mrs. Andreas Warner, living in Michigan.

Rev. R. Schroth, Lutheran minister of Adell, will officiate at the funeral ceremony Friday afternoon and interment will be made in the Flader Hill cemetery.

Many flowers at the funeral services Friday afternoon for Fred Gartman, town of Lyndon farmer who died Tuesday afternoon, attested to the high regard in which his many friends held his memory. The service was held from the home a half mile west of Hingham, Rev. R. Schroth, Lutheran minister of Adell, officiated at the ceremony and interment was made in the Flader Hill cemetery.

Wm. Gartmann Summoned Today At Age of 85

William Gartmann, 85, 1905 Union avenue, passed away this morning at 1:50 o'clock at St. Nicholas hospital.

Deceased was born in the town of Wilson on March 29, 1856, and was married to Miss Emilie Zimmermann of the town of Wilson about 60 years ago. The couple made their home at Forestville, Door county, Wisconsin and 35 years ago returned to Sheboygan. He was employed at the Badger State Tannery here for 25 years, retiring ten years ago.

Survivors are five children, Mrs. Cornelius Katte, this city, Mrs. J.E. Owen of New England, N.D., Mrs, Fred Ripley, Syracuse, N.Y., William Gartmann of Sawyer and George Gartmann of Plymouth; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. His wife and two children, Frank and Herman, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ramm funeral home. Rev. E.R. Krueger will officiate and burial will be made in Wildwood cemetery.

Frederick Gartman, Pioneer of Wilson, Died Early Sunday

Frederick L. Gartman, 70, a pioneer settler of the town of Wilson, died at 5 a.m. Sunday at his home on the farm where he has resided forty-six years.

Mr. Gartman was born at Kreis-Soldein, Brandenburg, Germany, on April 23, 1854. At the age of 13 he came to this country with his parents who settled on a farm in the town of Wilson.

On November 22, 1877, he was married to Miss Minnie Gartman, and the couple settled on the farm where Mr. Gartman resided up to the time of his death.

Deceased is survived by his wife and two sons, Adolph at home and Arthur of the town of Wilson; two daughters, Mrs. Adolph Hessler of the town of Wilson and Mrs. Albert Dyke of the town of Lima; one sister, Mrs. F.E. Fritsch of Sheboygan; three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the home and at 2 p.m. from the Trinity Lutheran church in the town of Wilson. Rev. E. Meier will officiate, and burial will be made in Flader's hill, town of Wilson.

Sister Mary Fidelia, 63, of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, died unexpectedly early this morning.

She was born at St. George, the daughter of Charles and Mary {Brown} {sic? Braun}.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Frank {Mae} Kotnik of Sheboygan, Mrs. Patrick {Rose} Sheehy of Manitowoc and Mrs. Harry {Elyner} Grasse of Wauwatosa.

Mrs. Charlotte Gartman, aged 85 years died Saturday evening of general debility, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. Bogden {sic?} on the Sauk Trail road. She had lived in the county many years. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock from the house. Interment at Fladder's Rest.

Mrs. W. Gartman An Aged Resident Died Wednesday

Mrs. Wilhelmina Gartman, aged 79, passed away Wednesday evening at 9 o'clock at the family residence, 1635 Alabama avenue of liver trouble after an illness of several months.

Mrs. Gartman was born in Germany, October 15, 1841, and came to America and this city in 1870. She was united in marriage to William Gartman the same year and together they moved to Houghton, Michigan, removing to this city twenty years later, and since making their home here.

The survivors are the husband and one brother, August Kupsch. Another brother, Frank Kupsch, preceded her in death two weeks ago.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence and at 2 o'clock from the Immanual Lutheran church. The Rev. Krause will officiate and interment will be made in the Lutheran cemetery.

The funeral of Ludwig Gartmann was held yesterday afternoon from the home of his son in the town of Wilson. The deceased was 88 years of age and was born in Germany, coming to this county in 1866, and had made his home in Mosel ever since. Mr. Gartmann was one of the first settlers of the town of Mosel and owned a farm there until a short time ago when he sold to his son Herman. The deceased is survived by two sons, Fred and Herman of Wilson and one daughter, Mrs. Frederick Frich. Several distant relatives from this city attended the funeral at which the Rev. Ech officiated.

On Monday Louis Gartman died at his home in the town of Wilson, at the age of eighty-seven years, ten months and twenty-eight days. The funeral was held on Wednesday and the Rev. Mr. Tesch officiated. The remains were laid at rest in Fladder's Rest cemetery in the town of Wilson.

Gartmann:- Louis Gartmann, aged 87 years, 10 months and 28 days, a respected pioneer resident of Sheboygan county, died Monday morning, June 9, at his home in the town of Wilson, and was interred in Flader's Rest cemetery, this afternoon, the Rev. J. Oesch officiating.

Long Illness Is Fatal To Wife Of August Gartmann

Mrs. Anna Gartmann, wife of August Gartmann, died at her home, 1015 Logan avenue, at 7:30 a.m. today after a lingering illness. Deceased was born in Germany February 8, 1859.

She is survived by her husband and four children, Mrs. Ray Lit??field of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Ferdinand De Sombre of this city, Mrs. Clarence Dennink of this city and Richard of Pontiac, Ill. Other survivors are the following step-children: Mrs. Rudolph Thielman, Mrs. Fred Neese, Mrs. Fred Bahr, Mrs. L. Zimmermann, Mrs. H. Dre?? Valentine Gartmann and John Gartmann of this city; eight grandchildren, and three sisters of Lo?? Wisconsin.

Pioneer of Town Wilson Passes Away

Mrs. Caroline Gartmann, aged 87, died at 6 o'clock Saturday morning at her home on the Black River road in the town of Wilson, after an illness of several years. She had lived with her daughter, Mrs. August Zimmermann for a long time.

The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the house, Rev. Oesch, pastor of the Lutheran church of the town of Wilson, officiating. Interment will be made in Flader's cemetery.

The deceased was born in Germany and came to this country in 1858, settling in the town of Wilson where she lived all her life. She is one of the oldest pioneers of the county.

Her husband died twelve years ago, Nine children, thirty-eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren survive. The children are: Mrs. Gustave Warner, Adelin, Mich.; Mrs. Henry Koch, Sheboygan; Mrs. Emma Parsch, Sturgeon Bay, Mich.; Mrs. Henry Gartmann, town of Wilson; Mrs. August Zimmermann, town of Wilson; Mrs. Lena Mallmann, Wilson; William, Sheboygan; Henry, Wilson, and Frederick, town of Lyndon.

Mrs. Lena Gartman, 85, R. 3, Sheboygan, widow of Arthur, died early Sunday morning at Sunny Ridge where she had been a resident one year.

The former Lena Reyer was born June 28, 1887, in the Town of Wilson, a daughter of the late Valentine and Theresa Reyer. She attended Wilson School.

On Nov. 29, 1911, she was married to Mr. Gartman. He died in April, 1952.

Mrs. Gartman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wilson, its Ladies Aid Society and Golden Agers.

She is survived only by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, three sisters and four brothers.

Veona Gartman, 77, formerly of 7725 Middle Road and a resident of Heritage Nursing Center the past 3 1/2 years, died there on Thursday, April 29, 1999.

Veona was born Dec. 24, 1921 in Sheboygan, a daughter of the late Walter and Anna {Gartman} Paasch. She attended Harmony School in the Town of Wilson and graduated from Oostburg High School.

On Oct. 4, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harold Gartman at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson. Together, they farmed the family farm in the Town of Wilson. In 1991, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Harold preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1997.

Veona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Wilson, its former Ladies Aid and the former Wilson Homemakers.

Veona is survived by two daughters, Phyllis {James} Summers, Town of Wilson; Ruth {the Rev. Martin} Schultz, Wood River, Ill.; a son Mark {Carol} Gartman, Town of Wilson; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly {James} Henschel, Matthew Gartman, Lucas Gartman, Steven Summers, Bennett {Denise} Summers, Anthony {Cheryl} Summers, Kristin Summers, John Schultz, David Schultz, Jacob Schultz and Marie Schultz, two great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Courtney Summers, a sister Lorraine Grunwald, Sheboygan and a brother-in-law, David Schaefer, Sheboygan.

Harold Alfred Gartman, 80, of 7725 Middle Road, Sheboygan, died at St. Nicholas Hospital on Monday morning, Sept. 8, 1997.

Harold was born on Oct. 9, 1916 in the Town of Wilson, a son of the late Herman and Elsie {Thimmig} Gartman Jr. He attended Riverview School in the Town of Wilson.

On Oct. 4, 1941, Harold and the former Veona Paasch were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town Wilson. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991.

For many years, Harold farmed in the Town of Wilson. He was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town Wilson and served in various capacities on the church council. He was a member of the former Lakeside Cooperative Cheese Association of Town of Wilson, serving as secretary for 21 years. He also was a member of the former Sheboygan Falls Cooperative Association, serving as director for 24 years.

Survivors include his wife, Veona; a son, Mark {Carol} Gartman, Town of Wilson; two daughters, Phyllis {James} Summers, Town Wilson and Ruth {the Rev. Martin} Schultz, Wood River, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Gartman, Matthew Gartman, Lucas Gartman, Steven Summers, Bennett {Denise} Summers, Anthony Summers, Kristin Summers, John Schultz, David Schultz, Jacob Schultz and Marie Schultz and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Summers. Harold was preceded in death by a brother, Alton and a sister, Leora Schaeffer.

A funeral service will be held for Harold on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town Wilson, with the Rev. Mark Berg, pastor, officiating. Entombment will take place at Garden Terrace Mausoleum, Sheboygan.

Mrs. Wilhelmine Gartman of Town Wilson Dies

Mrs. Wilhelmina Gartman, 82, pioneer of the town of Wilson and widow of Herman Gartman, passed away at 1:15 a.m. today at St. Nicholas hospital.

Deceased was born in Germany on Sept. 4, 1859, and came to this country when she was two years old with her parents, and settled in town Wilson. She attended school in the township and was married to Herman Gartman on Oct. 21, 1880. The couple always made their home in the town of Wilson.

She was a home-loving mother, very much devoted to her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church of town Wilson until she came to this city 16 years ago. Her husband passed away July 25, 1921.

Survivors are nine children: Otto and Walter, Mrs. Thomas Stahl and Mrs. William Neese of this city; Herman, Mrs. Charles Janko and Mrs. Alfred Fritsch of town Wilson; Mrs. Reinhold Hinze of Sheboygan Falls, and Mrs. Gustave Fritsch of Kohler; 28 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John Jens, Sr., and a brother, Fred Wildgrube, Elkhart Lake.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ramm Funeral home. The Rev. Ed. Krause will officiate and burial will be made in Fladder's Hill cemetery, town Wilson. The body may be viewed at the funeral home beginning this evening.

Arthur H. Gartman, 69, of Route 3, Sheboygan, Town of Wilson, passed away at his home this morning.

Born in the Town of Wilson on July 2, 1882, the son of Fred and Wilhelmine Gartman, he attended the district school and later worked on the homestead farm.

He was married to Miss Lina Reyer of the Town of Wilson on Nov. 29, 1911, and the couple always resided in that township. Mr. Gartman was an active farmer until four years ago when ill health forced his retirement. He was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of the Town of Wilson and he served on the district school board for many years.

Survivors are: his wife; a brother, Adolph, of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Hessler of the Town of Wilson and Mrs. Albert {Minnie} Dyke of the Town of Lima. His parents, a son, two daughters and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson with the Rev. Arlo Krueger officiating. Burial will be made in Flader's Rest Cemetery.

Otto F. Gartman, 82, a resident of Memorial Home, 1216 N. 23rd St., died early today at St. Nicholas Hospital where he had been a patient for 12 days.

Born in the Town of Wilson on Feb. 22, 1881, he was a son of Herman and Wilhelmina Gartman, attended school in the town, and married the former Caroline Thimmig on May 2, 1903.

Mr. Gartman was employed as a carpenter, then worked in various factories in the Sheboygan area, including the Rway Furniture Co. where he was employed from 1945 until 1953 when he retired.

Survivors are one son, Leroy of Sheboygan; two brothers, Walter of Sheboygan, Herman of the Town of Wilson; five sisters, Mrs. Reinhold {Hilda} Hinze, Mrs. Thomas {Meletta} Stahl, Mrs. Gust {Amanda} Fritsch and Mrs. Adrian {Lena} Austin, all of Sheboygan, Mrs. Alfred {Emma} Fritsch of the Town of Wilson; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. His wife and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ramm Funeral Home. The Rev. John L. Plumb, pastor of First Church of God, will officiate and burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Norman {Ruth} Gartman, 42, of 1623 Ashland Ave., died Sunday night at Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born Nov. 23, 1922, in Sheboygan, she was a daughter of William and Elsie Steffen, and was graduated from Central High School. She was married to Mr. Gartman on Oct. 19, 1946.

Mrs. Gartman was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church and its Nursery Circle.

Survivors are her husband; two sons, Randy and Jay, both of Sheboygan; her parents of Sheboygan; two sisters, Mrs. Roy {Mabel} Huehns, Mrs. Alex {Evelyn} Yurk, both of Sheboygan, and a brother, Leonard Steffen of Milwaukee. One child preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.

The Rev. John I. Hagen, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

Mae Gartman, 83, formerly of 2201 Erie Ave., died Friday afternoon at Morningside Nursing Home, where she had resided for several years.

She was born Oct. 2, 1898, in Sheboygan, daughter of John and Minnie Harder Klarhorst.

She married Walter Gartman on Feb. 10, 1917, in the Town of Wilson. He died Sept. 11, 1967.

Mrs. Gartman was employed in the drapery department at Kuechle's Home Furnishings, Sheboygan.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, and was a charter member of its Ladies Aid Society.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Frank {Hazel} Beyer of Marengo, Ill.; a son, Norman Gartman of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Redeker, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be made in Lutheran Cemetery.

Miss F. Gartmann, Popular Young Lady Died Early Today

Miss Florence Gartmann, 23, an esteemed young lady, died at 8:45 a.m. today at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Gartmann, 1005 Logan avenue. A year and a half ago she underwent an operation and since that time she had been lingering in health. Her death resulted from kidney trouble.

Miss Gartmann was born in Town Wilson and attended District School No. 5, from which she graduated.

She is survived by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Bennink and Mrs. Ferdinand De Sombre and one brother, Richard Gartmann; five step-sisters and two step-brothers.

The funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced in the Press on Monday.

Funeral services for the late Florence Gartmann will be held Tuesday afternoon. Services will be conducted at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Gartmann, 1005 Logan avenue, at 1:30 p.m. and at 2 o'clock services will be conducted at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church and will be in charge of the Rev. E. R. Krueger, pastor of the church. Interment will be in Lutheran cemetery.

Clarence A. Gartman, 87, a Sheboygan native and a resident of Beverly, West Virginia, died Oct. 6 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, W.Va.

He was born May 26, 1899, in Sheboygan, a son of the late Henry and Bertha Thimmig Gartman.

He married the former Leora Hamilton. She died Oct. 8.

Mr. Gartman was a former employee of AT&T, retiring in 1964. He was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Management Association, the Old Chicago Art Gallery Association, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence of Las Vegas, Nevada and William of Elkins; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Alton Gartman, 75, of 1338 Lenz Ct., died Tuesday night at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Sept. 3, 1908, in the Town of Wilson, a son of Herman and Elsie Thimmig Gartman. He attended Town of Wilson schools and the Sheboygan Business College.

On May 23, 1936, he married Anna Meyer at Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove. They farmed for many years in the Town of Wilson. Mr. Gartman was then employed by the Kohler Co. for 12 years, retiring in 1976.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson, its Golden Agers and men's club. He served as church financial secretary and trustee for two terms. He is a past member of the Town of Wilson school board, and town treasurer for two terms.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Delmar {Janet} Sommer, of Howards Grove; a grandchild; a brother, Harold A. Gartman, Town of Wilson; and a sister, Mrs. David Schaefer, of Sheboygan.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran church, Town of Wilson, with the Rev. Arthur Anacker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. LeRoy Gartman, 71, of 102 Crystal Lake Drive, Route 3, Plymouth, died early Sunday at St. Nicholas Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The former Margaret Engelhard was born Nov. 19, 1911, in La Crosse, Wis., a daughter of Andrew and Catherine Jensen Engelhard. She attended school in La Crosse and came to Sheboygan in 1931.

On March 7, 1931, she married LeRoy Gartman at Winona, Minn. Mr. Gartman is a former Sheboygan City alderman and Sheboygan County Board supervisor.

She was employed at the Wilson Avenue Piggly Wiggly store for 25 years.

Mrs. Gartman was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Kohler, the St. Anne Christian Women's Society, and was a former officer of the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church PTA. She was also a member of the Crystal Lake Advancement Association.

Survivors are her husband; two sons, Gene of Sheboygan and Terry of Winter Park, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. William {Mary Jo} Beniger of Sheboygan; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. John Rief, Mrs. Zig Schimanski and Mrs. Henry Boeck, all of La Crosse, and Mrs. Raymond Perviski of Sparta.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. The Rev. Jeffrey Gartman, of St. Mark Catholic Church, Kenosha, a grandson of Mrs. Gartman, will be celebrant of the Mass. Family rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Funeral services for Anthony Gartmann, 59, a well-known Town of Wilson farmer, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson.

The Rev. Waldemar Stoehr, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan.

Mr. Gartmann, of Route 1, Oostburg, died early Tuesday morning at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

A son of the late Henry and Maria Gartmann, he was born May 13, 1899, in the Town of Wilson, attended Harmony School and graduated from Sheboygan Business College.

Following his marriage to Miss Lilah Rammer on March 4, 1924, the couple lived in Sheboygan for two years before returning to the Town of Wilson where they engaged in farming since 1926.

Active in political and civic affairs, Mr. Gartmann served as a supervisor of the Wilson town board, as a director of the Harmony School Board, and as a past president of the Lakeside Co-op Cheese Factory.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a past elder of the church, a member of the school board of Trinity Lutheran School, a member of the church choir and the Men's Club of the church.

Survivors are his wife; four sons, Lloyd of the Town of Wilson, Leonard and Louis, at home, and Reuben of Madison; five grandchildren; a brother, Reinhold, of the Town of Sheboygan Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Paasch of the Town of Wilson, and Mrs. William Woepse, Kohler, and a step-brother, William Wirth, Wausau.

Three step-brothers preceded him in death.

Anna M. Gartman, 84, formerly of 1338 Lenz Court, and a resident of Morningside Health Center, died there on Monday, Dec, 14, 1992.

Anna was born Oct. 8, 1908, in the Town of Herman, the daughter of the late Carl and Katherine {Stauss} Meyer. She attended school in the Town of Herman.

On May 23, 1936, she and Alton Gartman were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove. Alton preceded her on April 17, 1984. She and her husband farmed for many years in the Town of Wilson, until moving to Sheboygan in 1962. Anna had also been employed at H.C. Prange Co. for more than 10 years and retired in 1974.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Wilson, where she had been active with the Ladies Aid Society and the former Golden Agers Club. She was also a member of the Town of Wilson Homemakers Club.

Anna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Delmar Sommer, of Howards Grove; her granddaughter, Dawn Sommer, of Austin, Tex. and one sister, Louisa Thimmig, of Sheboygan. She was preceded in death by one brother, George Meyer.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Wilson. The Rev. Arthur Anacker, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in Lutheran Cemetery.

Funeral service for Reinhold Gartman, 83, of Route 2, who died Tuesday at his home, were held today at Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home.

Mr. Gartman was born Dec. 23, 1900, in the Town of Wilson, a son of Henry and Marie Jacobi Gartman. He attended local schools.

On Oct. 1, 1927, he married Leila Nath at Trinity Lutheran Church.

For 53 years, he operated a farm in the Town of Wilson.

Survivors include his wife. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

Mrs. Leila N. Gartman, 83, a resident of Sunny Ridge the past six months, died at St. Nicholas Hospital Wednesday morning.

The former Leila N. Nath, she was born July 12, 1901, in the Town of Wilson, a daughter of the late Detlaf and Regina Fritsch Nath.

She attended school in the Town of Wilson.

On Oct. 1, 1927, she and Reinhold Gartman were married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Wilson. Mr. Gartman died in 1984.

She is survived by cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arthur Anacker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Wilson, officiating. Entombment will be at Garden Terrace Mausoleum.

Henry Gartmann Passes Away In Town Of Wilson

Henry A. Gartmann, 74, of the town of Wilson, died Sunday afternoon at Rochester, Minn. He was born in the town of Wilson January 10, 1863, and always made his home there. He was married to Mrs. Mary Wirth of the town of Wilson, who preceded him in death in 1905. Since the death of his wife he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Walter Paasch.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter Paasch of the town of Wilson and Mrs. William Woepse of Kohler; two sons, Anthony Gartmann of Town Wilson and Reinhold Gartmann of the town of Sheboygan Falls; none grandchildren; one brother, William Gartmann of Sheboygan; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Gartmann, town of Wilson; Mrs. August Zimmermann, town of Centerville, and Miss Amelia Koch of Sheboygan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ramm Funeral home and burial will be made at Fladers cemetery in the town of Wilson. The body can be viewed at the funeral home from 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon until time of services.

Mrs. Harry Grasse, 75, formerly of Sheboygan, 11816 W. Bluemound Road, Wauwatosa, died early Thursday at St. Camilia's Nursing Home there.

The former Elyner Gartman was born April 10, 1908, in Sheboygan, a daughter of the late Mary and Charles Braun Gartman.

Her marriage to Harry Grasse took place in Sheboygan, Dec. 25, 1942.

Surviving are her husband, nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 734 Glenview Ave., Wauwatosa.

Harry H. Grasse, 83, of 1231 Eisner Ave., died at his home on Sunday, May 3, 1992, following a lengthy illness.

Harry was born on June 25, 1908, in Sheboygan, a son of the late Gottlieb and Helen {Tax} Grasse. He attended St. Peter Claver Elementary School.

On Dec. 24, 1941, Harry was united in marriage to Elynor Gartman at St. Clement Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in 1987. He came to Sheboygan in 1988.

Prior to his retirement, Harry was employed as a vehicle mechanic for the Postal Service. Harry was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Alaska during the war.

Harry is survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. James Hess will be celebrant. Burial of the cremains will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church, Humboldt Ave. and Henry St., on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass.

Frank Gartman, 65, a native of the town of Wilson, died Wednesday evening at his home in Waukesha.

Until taken ill five years ago, Mr. Gartman had been an electrical engineer for Waukesha industrial firms.

A son of the late Charles and Mary Gartman, he was born Nov. 30, 1891. His father formerly operated a cheese factory at Six Corners. He attended St. George's Catholic School near his home and later St. Peter Claver in Sheboygan.

Following graduation from the Milwaukee School of Engineering he went to work in Waukesha, being employed at the Werra Foundry and Waukesha Iron Works. He served with the Army Engineers during World War I.

About 30 years ago he married the former Helen Seller of Waukesha. The couple had lived in Waukesha ever since.

Surviving are his wife; and five sisters, Sister Mary Fidelia, Arcadia, LaCrosse County, Mrs. Frank Kotnic and Mrs. Clemens Acker, Sheboygan, Mrs. Patrick Sheehy, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Harry Grasse, Wauwatosa.

He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waukesha, at 8 a.m. Saturday, following brief rites at the Tuschen-Rudolph Funeral Home there. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Herman Gartman, 79, Town of Wilson farmer and civic leader, died at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning after a brief illness.

Born in the Town of Wilson on April 29, 1884, he was the son of the late Herman and Wilhelmina Gartman. He attended Harmony School there and on Sept. 26, 1906 married the former Elsie Thimmig.

The couple operated a farm in the Town of Wilson, Mr. Gartman also worked as a lineman for the former Wilson Telephone Co. for 22 years, also serving as vice president. His wife preceded him in death.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Town Wilson.

Surviving are two sons, Harold of Town Wilson and Alton of Sheboygan; a daughter, Mrs. David {Leora} Schaefer of Sheboygan; a brother, Walter, Sheboygan; four sisters, Mrs. Thomas {Melitta} Stahl, Mrs. Adrian {Lena} Austin and Mrs. Amanda Fritsch, all of Sheboygan, and Mrs. Alfred {Emma} Fritsch of Town Wilson; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Anna Gartman, 60, of route 3, Sheboygan, passed away at her home this morning after a lingering illness.

A native of Brandenburg, Germany, Mrs. Gartman was born there Jan. 15, 1888, the daughter of Karl and Wilhelmina Daehnert, and came to this country with her parents at an early age. She attended Bethlehem Lutheran school and was confirmed in 1901 by the late Rev. William Wambsganss.

On Oct. 14, 1905, she was married to John Gartman by the Rev. Mr. Wambsganss, and the couple moved to the farm where they have made their home ever since.

Mrs. Gartman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church, the German Ladies' Aid, and the Mission society of the church.

She leaves her husband; three sons, Milton, of Sheboygan, Wilbert, town of Lima, and Harold, on the homestead; eight grandchildren; one brother, Charles Daehnert, of Albany, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Gustave Gandre, Sheboygan, and Mrs. William Schlegel, Sheboygan; her father and step-mother. Her mother died in 1909.

Funeral services will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran church at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Herbert J. A. Bauman officiating, and burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery.

Friends may call at the Steffen Funeral chapel from 3 p.m. Thursday until 10:30 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The casket will be closed after the services begin.

During the services, Mrs. Ruth Ludwig and Mrs. Fred Podlich sang two duet selections, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Come Ye Disconsolate."

Pallbearers were William Schlegel, Jr., Marvin Gandre, Herbert Gartman, Oscar Bahr, Clarence Thielman and Walter Zimmermann.

Among the many floral pieces which banked the casket as the body lay in state were tributes from the Citizens' State bank, the W. G. Keil Oil company, Knaack Motor company, Immanuel Ladies' Aid society, Rokow's Wisconsin Roofing company, the Bartz grocery.

Attending the services from away were Olga Bebell and Milton Zelke, Detroit, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver DeSombre, Milwaukee, and Charles Daehnert, Albany, Ore.

'Dynamite Bill' Gardner, 79, Area Explosives Expert, Dies

George G. {Dynamite Bill} Gardner, 79, a former Plymouth resident who packed a thousand and one adventures into his life as an explosives expert, died Wednesday at the Winnebago State Hospital after a lingering illness.

Born May 22, 1887, at Forestville, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Gartmann. He married Amanda Behr at Waukegan, Ill., in 1920.

Mr. Gardner enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1918 and served overseas as a dynamite expert with the engineers of the Rainbow Division. He was discharged from the Army in 1920.

He operated taverns at Waldo and Elkhart Lake before moving to Plymouth.

He was a member of the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post, No. 243, Plymouth.

"Dynamite Bill" was widely known in the area for his knowledge of explosives.

His career in handling dynamite took him throughout the state. He blasted everything from rocks for farmers in Sheboygan County, to basements for homes at Charlesburg in Fond du Lac County and a water raceway to run water from the Fox River through a generator station at Kaukauna without disturbing machinery within the plant.

Only once did his skill fail. That was in 1933 when he was blasting some concrete foundation at Miller's Guest House near Plymouth. The charge went off before expected and he spent 10 months at the Wood, Wis., Veterans Hospital before he recovered his sight.

Mr. Gardner is survived by his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Katte of Sheboygan and Mrs. Amelia Ripley of Brooklyn, N.Y. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth, with the Rev. Lowell Ferguson, pastor of Salem United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday until the time of services.

Military rites will be conducted at graveside by the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post.

Harold Gartmann, 81, of 2916 Wedemeyer St., died Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at Meadow View Manor Nursing Home.

A funeral service for Harold will be held on Friday evening, June 4, 1999 at Ramm-Ziegler-Novak-Rettke Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. A visitation period will precede the funeral service. Full particulars will be published in Friday's The Sheboygan Press.

Harold Gartmann, 81, of 2916 Wedemeyer St., Sheboygan, died Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at Meadow View Manor Nursing Home, where he resided for three weeks.

Harold was born Aug. 28, 1917 in the town of Wilson, a son of the late John and Anna {Daehnert} Gartmann. He attended Wilson School and Immanuel Lutheran School in Sheboygan.

For 13 years, Harold was employed at Sheboygan Falls Co-Op. He was later employed for 10 years at Thomas Industries, retiring in 1974.

On Nov. 19, 1938, Harold was united in marriage to the former Jeanette Goell at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.

Harold was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was an avid card player and enjoyed spending time with his friends playing cards with various card groups.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; two sons, Alan {Barbara} Gartmann and William {Helga} Gartmann, both of Sheboygan; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Gartmann of Sheboygan; one sister-in-law, Hazel LaBudde of Oostburg, seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by one son, Rodney; an infant great-grandson, an infant sister and two brothers {Wilbert, Milton}.

Funeral services for Harold will be conducted on Friday, June 4, 1999 at 7 p.m. at Ramm-Ziegler-Novak-Rettke Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. The Rev. Martinho Sander, pastor, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, will officate.

Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 1535 S. 12th St. on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m.

Harold's family has established memorials in his name for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund and Bethesda Lutheran Home.

Albert C. Gartman, 79, Dies After Brief Illness

Albert C. Gartman, 79, of 1824 N. Seventh street, died Sunday at 8:45 p.m. at Sheboygan Memorial hospital, after a short illness.

He was born July 21, 1866, in Town Wilson, and attended the public schools. He moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he became a machinist, later going into business for himself and finally in the dental supply business. After living in Salt Lake City 30 years, he returned here in 1926 and was employed at the Garton Toy company, retiring a number of years ago.

He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Santa Maria lodge, Salt Lake City.

Survivors are his widow, the former Bertha Thimmig, whom he married in June 1921; two daughters and one son, Clarence C., of Warrenville, Ill.; Mrs. Herman {Lolita} Schuette of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. L. E. {Zeino} Weber, Des Plaines, Ill.; four grandchildren, Billy and Richard Gartman, Darelyn Weber of Des Plaines, and Kim Schuette of Denver; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Siegworth, city, and Mrs. Anton Schmeler, Edgar, Wis.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Robert H. Kroos Funeral home, the Rev. E. H. Wessler officiating, with burial in Lutheran cemetery. The body may be viewed at the funeral home from Tuesday afternoon on.

Albert C. Gartman Rites Are Conducted Wednesday

Funeral services for Albert C. Gartman, 79, of 1824 N. Seventh street, who passed away Sunday at the Sheboygan Memorial hospital, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Robert H. Kroos Funeral home with the Rev. E. H. Wessler, pastor of Zion Reformed church, officiating. Burial was made in Lutheran cemetery.

Pallbearers were LeRoy, Harold, and Alton Gartman, Elmer Opgenorth {nephew}, William Merget and Harry Thimmig.

During the services Mrs. Alvira Stuart and Miss Hattie Rodewald sang two duet selections, "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling" and "Abide with Me." Among the many beautiful floral pieces which banked the casket as the body lay in state were tributes from the Garton Toy company, The American Telephone and Telegraph Division Service group of Chicago, and the office employes of American Telephone and Telegraph.

Mattes and son, Winston Mattes, of Kiel; Mrs. Evelyn Strassburg {niece}, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Redding, Haven, and others from Sheboygan Falls, Howards Grove and surrounding county communities. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schuette and son, Kim, of Denver, Colo., were unable to attend the rites due to an illness in the family. Mrs. Schuette is a daughter of the deceased.

Mr. James Gallagher, who suffered a stroke of apoplexy on Sunday morning, May 11th and died at 11:30 o'clock Monday morning at his home in Armstrong without regaining consciousness, was born in West Greenbush on March 3rd, 1871 and has lived in this vicinity the greater part of his life, having spent one year in Chicago.

He was a cheese maker by trade. On Feb. 8, 1912 he was united in Marriage to Mollie O'Maley of Osceola, who survives him as does three children, Everett aged 6 years, Gladys, 3 years and Thelma, 2 years old. Four sisters and two brothers also mourn his loss, Mrs. John Reed, of Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. James DeVoy of Plymouth {Sheboygan county} , Miss Kate of Chicago, Mrs. John Graff of the town of Greenbush, John of West Greenbush and Dr. Gallagher of Chicago.

Mr. Gallagher's death was a shock to the community which he lived and indeed to all who knew him.

He at one time owned the cheese factory at West Greenbush now owned by his brother John and about five years ago, moved to Armstrong where he has since resided operating the factory there.

The funeral was held on Thursday morning at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic church in Osceola, Rev. Father Schuerell officiating, with {interment} in the adjoining cemetery.

Henry C. Gartmann, aged 45, died at 3:30 o'clock this morning at his home in the town of Wilson of tuberculosis. The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon from the house and at 1:30 o'clock from the Lutheran church in the town of Wilson, Rev. Oesch, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be made in the Lutheran cemetery, this city.

The deceased was born July 14, 1870 in the town of Wilson. About twenty years ago he was married to Miss Bertha Thimmig, who survives him. For the last thirteen years he had conducted a cheese factory in the town of Wilson. Besides his widow, he is survived by three children, Clarence, Misses Lolita and Viona; five sisters, Mrs. Martha Heinzen, Sheboygan; Mrs. Louise Schmerler, Marathon county; Mrs. Minnie Sichrath {Siegworth}, Wilson; Mrs. Anna Widder, Wilson; Mrs. Caroline Opgenorth, Lower Falls road; and four brothers, William, Marathon county; Clarence, Six Corners; William {F Wm}, Sheboygan and Albert, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Gartmann who died Thursday at his home in the town of Wilson, were held at 1:30 {sic} o'clock this afternoon from the house and at 1:30 o'clock from the Lutheran church in the town of Wilson, Rev. Mrs. Elsie Gartman, 72, wife of Herman Gartman, Town of Wilson, passed away Saturday at Rocky Knoll Sanatorium and Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past month.

Born in Town of Wilson on Sept. 26, 1887, the daughter of Moritz and Marie Thimmig, she attended the rural school and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church with the class of 1901. On Sept. 26, 1906, she was married to Herman Gartman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Town of Wilson, and the couple always made their home on the farm in Town of Wilson.

Mrs. Gartman was a lifelong member of Trinity Church and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid Society of the church.

Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. David {Leora} Schaefer of Sheboygan; two sons, Alton on the homestead and Harold A. of Town of Wilson; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Gartman of Park Ridge, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Church in Town of Wilson with the Rev. W. C. Stoehr, pastor, officiating. Burial will be on the family lot in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Hugo Gartman, 81, of 1517 Indiana Ave., died Tuesday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The former Elisa Janko, she was born May 25, 1877, in the Town of Wilson, a daughter of the late Charles and Wilhelmina Janko. She attended rural schools.

She made her home in Sheboygan since her marriage to Hugo Gartman on Oct. 23, 1915.

Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. George {Eleanor} Meinke of Adrian, Mich., and Mrs. William {Marion} Voigt, Sheboygan; two sons, Capt. Hugo, stationed with the Air Force at Rapid City, S.D., and Robert, Sheboygan, and six grandchildren.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ramm Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Krueger, pastor of the Fountain Park Evangelical United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hugo Gartman, 1517 Indiana Ave., who died Tuesday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital, were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Ramm Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Krueger, pastor of Fountain Park Evangelical United Brethren Church officiated, and burial was on the family lot in Wildwood Cemetery.

During the services Dennis Janko sang "Abide With Me" and "There Is No Night." Mrs. Lorraine Hardy accompanied at the organ.

Mathew Gaynor aged about 70 years died Thursday at the home of his brother Michael Gaynor. The deceased never married and for the past number of years made his home with his brother and with his nephew John Gaynor. The funeral took place Saturday at St. Michael's church and was attended by a large number of friends. The pall bearers were: Messrs. Thos. Heraty, George Lindsay, Peter Alcox, Patrick Crosby, Thomas Gill and Patrick Cooney.

On Sunday evening, Feb. 11 at 6 o'clock, occurred the death of Timothy Glynn, at the home of his son, Thomas, near Glenbeulah. Death was due to a general breaking down of the system caused by old age.

At the time of death, Mr. Glynn was about 83 years of age, it being impossible to ascertain his exact age. He was born in county Galway, Ireland, and emigrated to this country when a young man. The greater share of his life, prior to his removal to this state was spent in Virginia. In 1858, he came to Wisconsin and settled in Sheboygan County, where he as since resided.

He is survived by a wife and three children, two sons, Timothy and Thos. at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Patrick Garriety of Glidden, WI. Three other children have gone before him.

Deceased was a highly respected neighbor and a good citizen. He leaves an honorable war record, having served his country faithfully for over a year during the war of the Rebellion.

Funeral services were held at the Catholic church in Glenbeulah yesterday forenoon, conducted by Rev. Father Van Treeck, with interment in the Catholic cemetery in this city.

Timothy Glynn passed away last Sunday at his home near Glenbeulah after a lingering illness of several months' duration.

Deceased was born on the old homestead near Glenbeulah and was 35 years of age. He had spent the past 13 years in the west and came home during the winter in failing health.

His is survived by a mother, one brother, Tom, and sister, Mrs. P. Garriety of Glidden, Wisconsin. T"he father passed away last winter and a brother, John, died several years ago.

The funeral was thel at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Catholic church. Rev. Van Treeck conducting the service with interment in the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Timothy Glynn died at ten o'clock Sunday forenoon of bronchial pneumonia. She had been in poor healthy for some time and everything was done for her that physicians and relatives could do, but her life could not be prolonged.

Mrs. Glynn was born in Ireland and was about 80 years of age. Her husband died several years ago and she had been making her home with her son Thomas, a mile this side of Glenbeulah. She is survived by one son Thomas and one daughter, Mrs. Anna Geraghty of Glidden.

The funeral was held yesterday forenoon at the Catholic church in this city, Rev. Meyer officiating and interment was in the Catholic cemetery. M.M. Mann of Glenbeulah was to have charge of the funeral, was sick and Kessel & Kiefer attended to the arrangements.

The death of Thomas Glynn of Glenbeulah occured last Tuesday at his home at that place, death resulted from ulcers of the stomach which the deceased had suffered for some time. The deceased was born in the town of Plymouth, Sept. 24, 1859, and was therefore about 55 years of age at the time of his death. He had resided in Glenbeulah for a number of years, farming being his occupation. On Nov. 24th, 1892 he was married to Miss Katie DeVoy of that place and four daughters were born of the union, two having died, Luella who died last year and Vera who died in infancy. Irene and Bernice are the two surviving children.

Besides his wife and two daughters, one sister, Mrs. Gerahty of Glidden, Wis., survive him. The deceased was a member of the Catholic Knights and was buried in the Greenbush cemetery last Thursday, Rev. Krohn of the Catholic church officiated.

The pall bearers were Jas. Prindiville, H. J. Rooney, L.C. Ziegler, M.H. Hands, P.H. McNicholas, Jas. Kenna. Thirty members of the C. of W. attended the funeral.

Glenbeulah, July 27 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Glynn, 80, passed away on Friday morning, July 23, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wifler, Glenbeulah, were held at 9 o'clock Monday morning at the Gentine Funeral home in Plymouth and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Fridolin's Catholic Church in Glenbeulah. The Requiem High Mass as offered by the Rev. Henry Langenfeld, pastor. Interment took place in the Catholic cemetery near Greenbush.

Pallbearers were L.K. Scott, Joseph Grimes, Bernard Gannon, Earl and Lee Glynn and Donald DeVoy.

Sunday evening the members of the Blessed Virgin Society of which the deceased was a member, held a vigil. They also attended the services in a body.

Mrs. Glynn was born on Jan. 28, 1862 in Elmira, N.Y., the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. John DeVoy. When she was five years of age, she came to the town of Greenbursh. Her marriage to John Glynn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Glynn, early residents of the county, took place at St. Fridolin's church in 1885. The Rev. Father Boniface of Mt. Calvary officiated.

The couple resided in the Town of Plymouth for five years, after which they moved to a farm near St. Cloud. In 1898, Mr. Glynn passed away and his wife moved to Glenbeulah and for the past 21 years has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Wifler.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. E.S. {Edna} McLain of Joliet, Ill., Mrs. R.E. {Kathryn} Wifler, Glenbeulah, and Arthur Glynn of West Allis; 14 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Grimes and Mrs. Elizabeth Grimes, both of Glenbeulah; two brothers, Joseph DeVoy of Chicago and William DeVoy of Kenosha. She was preceeded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

John Glynn of St. Cloud died at the Park Hotel, Sheboygan, Sunday, the result of inhaling gas which escaped from the jet in his room. He took a business trip to Sheboygan Thursday of last week expecting to return Friday. On Thursday evening he retired at a seasonable {sic} hour. Not making an appearance the next morning the proprietor became anxious. About nine o'clock an attendant was sent to his room to investigate. As the door was approaching, a strong odor of gas was discovered. An entrance was forced and Mr. Glynn was found in bed in an unconscious condition. Medical aid was at once summoned and restoratives applied but of no avail. He never regained consciousness. He lay in this condition until Sunday shortly before noon when death called him home.

The gas jet was found partially open. Just how this happened will never be known. The supposition is, that upon retiring Mr. Glynn turned the light off but in doing so, after the light was extinguished, he must by accident turned it partially open again.

The remains were taken to his home near St. Cloud on Monday. The funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Catholic Church in Glenbeulah, Rev. J. VanTreeck officiating. The remains were interred in Greenbush cemetery.

Deceased is survived by a wife and three children, the youngest being but four months old. Mrs. Glynn has been suffering from the grippe for some time and was unable to attend the funeral.

Two brothers and one sister also survive him. They are: Tom Glynn of the town of Plymouth, Mrs. Jerry Gerahty of the town of Glidden, Ashland county, and Tim, whose whereabouts is unknown.

Deceased was born in Virginia, July 1, 1855, and came to this county with his parents about forty years ago.

Mrs. Catherine Glynn, 72, of 1920 S. Ninth Street, widow of Thomas Glynn, died at St. Nicholas hospital Sunday morning after a lingering illness. She was born March 27, 1867, in the town of Greenbush, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John DeVoy.

On March 24, 1892, she married Mr. Glynn at St. Fridolin's Catholic Church, Glenbeulah. The union was blessed the four children, two having died. Mr. Glynn died 27 years ago.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. P.F. Pickett, Spokane, Wash, and Mrs. O.R. Eichenberger, Sheboygan, two brothers, Joseph, of Chicago and William of Racine, three sisters, Mrs. William Grimes, Fond du Lac, Mrs. Sarah Grimes, and Mrs. Minnie Glynn of Glenbeulah, and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Glynn was a faithful member of St. Peter Claver church, of the Christian Mother's soceity and the Willing Workers' society of the church. For several years before her marriage she taught school in the county.

The body can be viewed at the Gerend Funeral home for 7:30 o'clock tonight on. Funeral services will be heald Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the funeral home and at 9:30 with a requiem mass at St. Fridolin's church, Glenbeulah, the Rev. A.J. Reinl officiating with interment in St. Fridolin Cemetery, Greenbush.

Mrs. Alma E. Gorr, 83, of 814 S. 16th St., died at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital on Sunday.

The former Alma Spalinger, she was born in the Town of Herman on April 2, 1898, a daughter of Jacob and Bertha Quandt Spalinger.

She attended school in the Town of Mitchell and came to Sheboygan as a young woman.

On Dec 31, 1921, she and Frederick Gorr were married at Waukegan, Ill. Mr. Gorr died Aug 8, 1977.

Mrs. Gorr was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are three sons, melvin, harold and Carl, all of Sheboygan; one duaghter, Mrs. William {Marion} Seibold of Sheboygan; 14 grandchildren and 12 great greandchildren. She was rpeceeded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home, with Rev. Edwin C. Bek, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 pm Tuesday and until the time of services Wednesday.

A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Gorr's name.

Mrs. Leona Garbe, 65, Elkhart Lake, town of Rhine died early Tuesday morning Jan. 1 at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. The former Leona Miesler was born Jan. 24, 1908 in Luxemburg was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miesler. She attended schools at Luxemburg and graduated from the Green Bay Business College. She was employed as a practical nurse in the Milwaukee area after receiving her training at a Chicago Nursing School. On Nov. 28, 1947 she married Walter Garbe in Milwaukee. The couple lived and farmed in the town of Rhine following their marriage. Her husband preceded her in death on May 19, 1973. She was a member of the Community United Church of Christ at Elkhart Lake. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Frank {Ida} Miesler, Luxemburg; Mrs. Elmer {Lucille} Froelich, Milwaukee; Mrs. Elmer {Ruby} Zastrow, Algoma and Mrs. Ted {Velda} Seidl, Luxemburg. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank. Funeral services will be held today Friday at 11 a.m. at the Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth. The Rev. Robert Johnston, pastor of Community Church of Christ will officiate and burial will be in St; John's Cemetery at Elkhart Lake. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.

Funeral services for Walter L. Garbe, 60, of the town of Rhine, Elkhart Lake, who died early Saturday morning, May 19th at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where he had been a patient for two weeks, were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth. The Rev. Robert Johnston pastor of Community Unitec Church of Christ, Elkhart Lake officiated with burial in St. John's Cemetery, Elkhart Lake. He was employed four years at Osthoffs Resort, Elkhart Lake, and six years at Langenfeld's Fur Farm, New Holstein. He served with the U.S. Army in WWII. On Nov. 28, 1946 he married Leona Miesler in Milwaukee. The couple farmed near Millhome and the past 26 years in the town of Rhine where they were engaged in guernsey dairy farming. He was a member of the Community United Church of Christ, Elkhart Lake. Survivors include his wife, five brothers, Clarence, Edwin, both of Plymouth; Herbert, Suamico; Paul, Kiel and Rueben of Plymouth; two sisters, Mrs. Ray {Norma} Drews, Kiel; and Mrs. Dorothy Prigge, Manitowoc. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
