The Sanders Family

The Sanders family are notable for being the owners of the 'Sanders Portrait' of William Shakespeare. The painting, which first surfaced in 1909, has been in Canada since the early 20th century when it's owners emigrated. At this time it was dismissed as a fake. The painting resurfaced in 2001, still owned by the same family. Work is in progress to trace the history of this family, with the line now definitely traced back to William Sanders, born in Worcester about 1712:

That the family were from Worcester is significant, for the artist responsible for the portrait, John Sanders, was also from Worcester, being baptised there in 1575.
