Bernadine Nantz of Hoskinston writes regarding last week's column. "I have a Hannah Lewis Howard who married Adron (Adrian) Howard and also a Sarah Pace Howard. Maybe they are of the same family."

In the column, Hannah Lewis Howard's husband was given as Andrew which was an error. The Adron Howard Mrs. Nantz mentions is correct. Adron and Hannah Lewis Howard had five sons: Andrew Jackson Howard, Samuel Howard, Wilson Howard, John Jefferson Howard and Adron Howard, Jr.

Adron Howard, Sr., was born about 1782 in Greenbriar County, Va. His parents, Samuel and Chloe Howard, moved to southeast Kentucky in 1790's when Adron was still a boy. Here he married Wilson Lewis' daughter Hannah. Hannah died in 1862 and Adron died five years later in February of 1867.

Samuel, born about 1809, was the oldest of their five sons. In 1831, he married Sarah Pace. Among their children were Robert who married Charity Nantz; Adron who married Mary Howard and lived for a time in Owsley County; Rebecca who married Charity's brother George W. Nantz; Wilson J. who married Susan Lewis; Jane who married Sam Bishop; Carter C. who married Martha Lewis; Wilson Lewis who never married; Adron who married Mary Ann Allen of Clay County; Samuel Clay who married Emily Jane Smith; Charity and Martha who married Leonard Ball.

Next in order of birth was Adron, born Christmas day of 1812. He married Mary Coldiron, daughter of John and Sally Brock Coldiron. They had Sally who married a Keets and moved to Nebraska; John Calvin who married Nancy Lewis; Wilson; Lewis who first married Rachel Coldiron and then, in 1874, Mary Blanton; Claiborn who died May 23, 1865, in Salisbury, N.C.; Silas Jesse Crittenden who married Emily Morris; Jesse W. who married Aretha Howard; Henry D. who first married Emily J. Myers and second to Mary Jane Williams; William; and Adron.

Adron and Hannah's son John Jefferson was born July 13, 1817. His first wife was Elizabeth, daughter of William and Elizabeth Roark Jenkins. In 1866, in Clay County, John married again to Elizabeth Estridge, a widow. Adron is known to have had William N., whose first wife was Rachel Fee; Margaret who married Felix Morgan; Adron B. who married Mary Lewis; and Israel who first married Sarah Morgan. Felix's sister, and secondly married Sarah Jane Yates.

The youngest of the five was Andrew Jackson, born May 13, 1824. In 1846, he married Ann, daughter of Enoch and Susanna Blair Creech. Among their children were Henry Lewis who first married Ellender Lewis, second married Nancy J. Sergent and third, Eliza M. Kelly: Susan who married W.C.L. Huff; James Madison; Adron V. who married Sarah Noe; John M. whose first wife was Nancy and second wife was Mintie Howard; Hannah who married George Blanton; Elihu L. who married Mary J. Lewis; Enoch who married Martha J. Nolan and Mary who married John Middleton.
