Ewell Unthank5-4118 born 8 Nov 1809, came to Harlan County, Kentucky, perhaps from his native Mt Airy, North Carolina, in the 1830's. He is thought to be the son of Jonathan Unthank and Sally Venable. On 22nd August 1839H*1/338, he married Sally [Sarah] Jones born about 1822, daughter of John Jones Sr. For many years, ewell operated a general store in Harlan's county seat, Mount Pleasant. Sarah died 12 April 1859HCoD, and Ewell married secondly, 9 Jul 1867H*A/104, to Artemis Cole, born about 1843. Ewell died 10 May 1880 at Pineville.
