Keeping the Homes Fires Burning
Civil War in Southeast Kentucky
by Holly Timm
Keeping The Homefires Burning is a term paper I wrote in the spring of 1994 for an English course at Southeast Community College in Harlan County. The orginal draft was far in excess of the allowed length and I had to chop it to pieces, leaving out much local detail and restricting myself to generalities. This version is a restoration work in progress while I try to reconstruct what was chopped out. It is a lengthy file and will eventually be distributed over several pages... please be patient while it loads. Comments, additions, and corrections are not only welcome but encouraged. Please email me at [email protected]. I hope you enjoy it.
