I never knew that my my Great-grandfather was a night watchman.
Berger worked in Summit SD for many years for a Dr. Grote.
He farmed his land like a sharecropper.
Also during the great depression he worked at the Homestake mine
in Lead SD. He used to tell me stories about that. Pete Kaski Posted 1/12/99

I am working on my family tree and am looking for a contact who might be able to assist in researching my ancestors in the Deuel County area.  I know that my Grandfather (Benard (Ben) Harvey Ploof) was born in Goodwin, SD, August 30th 1902, SSN 481-07-5683.  I'm looking for more information on Benard's parents and grandparents, etc....

Benard's Parents were:  John Ploof (abt 1860) and Katherine Kiegel.  (Benard is one of 15 siblings) At some point in time the name may have been "Plouff". Many thanks. We are located in Central Texas and may be able to recipricate on research. I've also located a railroad listing for:
Ploof, John               Trucker               C. M. & St. P.  1911
Ploof, Joseph            Engine Dispatcher    C. M. & St. P.  1911

Probably brothers of Benard.  I have minimal information on Benard's
siblings that I can share.  Contact Steven Ploof (512) 218-8726  Posted 1/9/99
