Researching the BUCKINGHAM family. They lived in or around Hermosa. The family moved from Mills Co. IA to Hermosa around 1884. Some members of the family may have been in the area of SD bordering on IA from 1871 but can't confirm.

I am researching the family of my gr-gr-grandmother, Theresa KRIEGLER. She was the daughter of Joseph KRIEGLER and Anna PIETSCH who came from Schonwald, Austria. All of their children were born there.
Their children were:
Joseph (never married)
Anna (Mrs. Lars ANDERSON)
Minnie (married a SCHILLER)
Sarah
Theresa (Mrs. Leopole "Ole" RODTS)
Mary (Mrs. Isadore GARY)
If anyone has connecting family branches, I would love to share information. I have an old scrapbook with some obituaries, wedding notices, etc. that contain a fair bit of information on some of these families. I would like to find descendants of these lines. Theresa had three children, only one of whom lived to have a family of his own. My gr-grandfather was the first child, born in 1886, and given up for adoption to Chris and Kitty SWINT in about 1900. Theresa had a son, Leopold RODTS, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Mary RODTS, who never married. Theresa died in Custer, in 1930, where they had lived since coming to the Black Hills in about 1885.

I am searching for any information on the family of Almon Hobart HERBERT (son of Dr. Alvin Herbert) who lived at Bakerville, Custer County, SD., and Fall River County, SD. He married Nettie May WALKER (daughter of Daniel J. WALKER and Mary WOOD) in Sioux Falls, SD and then came to the hills where the family settled. The youngest three of their children were born at Bakerville. The children were: David Alvin (m: Ethel Torbert), Mary Louisa (m: Roscoe Swint), Harvey Holten (m: Sadie Kinsey), Neva May (m:1. Searching for any information on the SWINT/KRIEGLER families of Custer. Christian Philip SWINT was a rancher for many years in Custer, and his adopted son, Roscoe Osman SWINT was born on June 20, 1886 in Custer to Theresa KRIEGLER. It is believed that Rosco's natural father was a BOLAND.

My Mother Marian Julia KESSLER was born in Custer County and raised there. Her mothers name was Margaret (Jennings not her real maiden name) KESSLER then she married Pat HYDE after the girls left home during WW11. I would be real interested if anybody in Custer who knew my mother or my grandmother would E-mail me with stories. My mother died a few years ago and we buried her in Pringle with her father and his family the POND family. I brought my mother back to Custer a few times and she started naming people we were related to but she wouldn't try to contact them so I could meet them (she didn't want to bother them). TITMARSH - Am researching the family of Robert Titmarsh. Robert was born in England. In 1894, he married Bertha Bailey (poss at Des Moines, IA). Bertha was the dau. of John and Thurza Bailey, both of whom were born in England. He lived in Custer, SD when his son John was born in 1904. He died in 1916 in Wheatridge, CO. Seeking info on Clarence Jay MCNUTT, born in Custer, Custer Co., SD in 27 Apr 1906. Father was Harry Oatly MCNUTT. Mother Jessie (Jessica) PORTER b. 25-Jan-1887. Harry and Jessie married when she was just 16 (location unknown) and they divorced when she was 19 possibly in that area since that would make the year 1906. She left Clarence with Harry and went ????. That's all I know on them in that location. As a side-note, Harry Oatly McNutt died Oct 1966 in Bell Fourche, SD. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
