I am looking for any information on the JORGENSEN family from Denmark, known to be in Vermillion, Clay County, from 1875 to 1895 and possibly before and after those dates. Claus Ludvig JORGENSEN was my great-great- uncle. He possibly had brothers, Jorgen JORGENSEN and Peter JORGENSEN. From 1886 to 1888 my grandfather, Fritz Olaf CLAUSEN, lived there with his uncle. Fritz had just immigrated from Denmark. I also want any information on Danish immigration in the area.

I am looking for information on Samuel COON. About 1845 he and a party of 140 people followed James Emmett to Fort Vermillion. They were Mormon and had left the main party of Mormon's to go west after Joseph Smith was killed. They did not stay in Fort Vermillion very long, they left to rejoin the main party of Mormon's at Council Bluff Iowa. I am mostly looking for historical information about this incident. I would also be interested in any information as to names of people in the James Emmett group.

My records of NOAH WHERRY, who lived near Vermillion in the late 1800s, show that he had at least the following children: Mathilda, Mary, Levi, James, Clarissa, John, Sarah, Anna, Emmet, Arthur and Jay. Is there anyone who might know of the whereabouts of the descendants of any of these children? I am betting (hoping) that someone, somewhere, has a picture of Noah Wherry and I would like to have a copy. I have several documents about him. I would be happy to share information. --------------------------------------------------
