I am looking for information on the family of Marie NELSON(NIELSON)LUND. She
immigrated to the Viborg area with her Mother, and siblings, Christian,Lars,
Annie, and Mads in 1869-1870 from Denmark. Father Nelson may have been with
them but not sure.The mother later married a Johnson(?).There was another daughter
that came earlier by the name of Ellen (Hendrickson). We know that Marie's mother
is buried some where around the Viborg area. Marie married Mathias Peter Matsen
LUND, 10 May 1875 in the Viborg area. Peter had two children by a former marriage,
by the name of Augusta(Johanne Augosta Christine LUND, born 16, July 1867, Denmark;
and Anne(Anne Petrine LUND) born 13 Sept. 1865. Augusta married Soren PETERSON.
They were living in Meckling at the time of Soren's death. I would like to make

of the following: James JOHNSON and two of his sons James Clinton JOHNSON (my
great grandfather) and Jay Bliss JOHNSON settled in Clay in 1886 or 1887. The

Searching for information for Anna Thorton Lewis Gregg (Mrs. Matthew) Gregg.
Born Feb, 1822, married 1836 in clay co. Missouri. In 1840 lived in clinton
Co. Iowa. Matthew is buried under the name of samuel according to WPA records
in Sloan Iowa cemetery. Anna relocated to rural Vermillion. She is buried in
Bergen Lutheran Cemetery rural Vermillion. Died Sept. 1903. No obituaries are
available. My Great grandfather Samuel Grant Gregg was a native of Clay and
Yankton Co. SD, and Cedar Co. NEbraska all of his life. They also had a daughter,
Estelle Boyles who died in Pierre, SD.

Samuel Foulkes Jones and Tillie Thomas. Their son, Charles Bentley Jones was
born on June 4, 1875, either in the Black Hills or at Vermillion. I would be
grateful for any information on Samuel and Tillie's place and date of marriage,
and Charles' place of birth. Tillie died in about 1879 in South Dakota (unknown
county).Samuel may have been in the 7th Cavalry in 1876 at the Relief of Colonel

Jargen CHRISTENSEN who immigrated to South Dakota from Denmark in 1873. His
son was Peter M. JOHNSON (1859-1942) who changed his name after a family dispute.
Peter M. Johnson lived in Vermillion and had four children, Chester(1888-1958),
Archibald (1891-1974 my grandfather), Clarence(1893- 1920), and Wallace(1894-1920).
Peter M. family moved to North Dakota and eventually California. Chester JOHNSON

The 1915 History of Dakota Territory has a bio on Franklin TAYLOR who homesteaded
in 1859 in Fairview Township in Clay Co. He was clerk of the First Judicial
Court and married Mrs. Martha WARNER, widow of Charles S. Warner. They had two
sons, Frank and Fred TAYLOR, born in 1897 and 1900 respectively, and a daughter
M. Ethelda Taylor, who later married William A. UFFORD. These Taylors descended
from Currituck Co. North Carolina Taylors and I have done extensive research
on them. Would happily exchange info with anyone working on the Clay Co Taylors.

Lewis T. SWEZEY moved to Vermillion in 1887. He were he purchased the Clay co.
Bank and ran it until his death in 1912. One source stated he served on the
State board of Regents for two years. He was also part of the Illinios 74th
Infantrty Company E. I am hoping a picture of him has survived from one of his

England, d. 1889 Vermillion, SD) and Mary (b. abt 1807, NJ, d. 1886 Vermillion,
SD). They are both buried in Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion. Their children,
all born in Rockdale, IL were George Jr.(m. Rebecca Hilton), Asa Scott, Mary
Ann and Charles. I am looking for Mary's maiden name or any other information
on her. I am also looking for George's parents. I have lots of info. on this

people followed James Emmett to Fort Vermillion. They were Mormon and had left
the main party of Mormon's to go west after Joseph Smith was killed. They did
not stay in Fort Vermillion very long, they left to rejoin the main party of
Mormon's at Council Bluff Iowa. I am mostly looking for historical information
about this incident. I would also be interested in any information as to names
of people in the James Emmett group.
