Seeking any descendant of Melvin SQUIRE, son of Perrin and Mary (GOSS) SQUIRE. He was born in Lime Creek Township, near Wellman, Washington County, Iowa in 1859. He was living in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1938, according to his brother's obituary. Melvin's mother, Mary (GOSS) SQUIRE, was a sister of my great, great grandmother, Louisa (GOSS) TIPTON JONES STONECIPHER (1843 - 1916). I would like to learn whether there are any living descendants of Perrin and Mary (GOSS) SQUIRE. I also would like to learn whether anyone knows whether Horace and Jane WILSON who raised Mary and Louisa GOSS are related to them, and if so, how. OBIT-Funeral of Edgar SQUIRE at Wellman: [born 1869 - this probably 1938] WELLMAN, Dec 21 Funeral services will be held here tomorrow morning for Edgar SQUIRE. Mr. SQUIRE died at one thirty Monday afternoon at the Western General Hospital, El Paso, Texas. Death was caused by cerebal phionbsis. He had left here the latter part of November by train to spend the winter in Tucson, Ariz, but became ill and was taken from the train at El Paso. A brother, Melvin and nephew, Carol, both of Aberdeen, S. Dak. have been with him during his illness. Services will be held at ten o'clock tomarrow morning at the Bidwell funeral home. The body accompanied by the funeral party arrived here this morning. Edgar SQUIRE was born on a farm two and a half miles south of Wellman. The son of Perrin and Mary (GOSS) SQUIRE. He was about 69 years of age. He grew to manhood on this farm and then left the farm to teach in the rural schools of this county, at Clinton, Iowa and at Sapulpa, Okla. He returned to the farm about 25 years ago. He is survived by a brother Melvin of Aberdeen, S. Dak., and several nieces and nephews. The parents, a brother and a sister are deceased.
