MAHER posted by Laurence Ryan on Monday, April 3, 2000

I have a copy of the first page (only) of a lonely letter written by a great-uncle of mine, William MAHER, to his brother in Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland, and dated Aug 28,1921. The page has a decorative printed/engraved heading of The First National Bank of Aberdeen, SD. (I am aware that this may not necessarily mean that the writer was an employee of the Bank ...) William was born at Cashel probably between 1850 and 1860. He refers in his letter to "a silence of 46 years", which may indicate that he left Ireland abt. 1875). This may be an unreasonable imposition on your kindness, but I should be most grateful for a little guidance towards my finding more about William MAHER in South Dakota - if indeed he was resident there at all.
