I am looking for any information on the HOHLEN and MEYER families who moved to Hecla, Brown County, S.D., from Columbus, NE. sometime after 1891, both had the first name Klaas. Klaas MEYER had a son name Fredrek, both Klaas MEYER and his wife, Bernadine are buried in small cemetery in or just outside of Hecla (24 names in all, listed on one marker). Also, Klaas HOHLEN's son Harbert or Herbert married a Bertha PETERS, daughter to Fred and Magdelina PETERS who lived next door to the HOHLEN's. There was also a son Klaas HOHLEN, who I know had children that moved back to the area in more current years from Canada. If you have information, please let me know.

My VITENSE family may have a relationship to the VITENSE family living in Columbia. Oral family history has my gr gr grandfather traveling with one of his brothers when they came to this country. The brother lived in the Dakota's. My gr gr grandfather lived in WI where he died. If anyone researching the VITENSE family is interested, please contact me.

Researching the family of Clarence Edgar SKINNER and wife Mary Eliza RIBEY? Clarence is found in the on-line atlas info., he is listed as "C.E. SKINNER", in the 1905 Brown County atlas, living in section 31 of Osceola Twp. Clarence and family came to Brown County, SD from Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa sometime between 1900-1905. They had a four year old daughter named Bernice who died of Diptheria, around the 23rd of March 1908 near Frederick, SD. Two other children also had the disease at the same time, don't know if they lived or died. Would like more information on this family. Thanks!

My EVERSON family was among the earliest settlers in Brown Co. The original homestead was in Columbia, but there are also relatives in Aberdeen and Warner in the 1940s. I have the strongest desire for information about my family, or anyone that might have known them. Thanks.

I'm trying to locate definite information on a Michael RONAYNE buried in the Warner Cemetery in July of 1909. According to the "Early History of Brown County, South Dakota (p. 57), Michael (my maternal grandmother's brother) was murdered with the Christie family in Rudolph in the summer of 1909, by one Emil VICTOR. I would be most appreciative if someone can tell me who to write to for death certificate, news articles (the above history says the news of these murders was the city's "most sensational crime"), and/or burial records.

CARPENTER, Alonzo/Arthur Curtis.
Seeking place of burial of the above who died approx. 1915-16 South Dakota, possibly. One of his sons, Jerome Bell CARPENTER and wife Aurilia COUSE and two children Fred C. and Florence Mae left Bath, SD approx. June 1888. Went to Stevens Point, Portage County, WI where their son Fred C. CARPENTER then died at Stevens Point Aug. 1, 1888 at age 17. Could Alonzo/Arthur Curtis CARPENTER possibly have died at Bath, Brown County, SD, where his son Jerome Bell lived until 1888?? He was born in New York, Oswego County, 1820 approx. Jerome Bell CARPENTER was born at Syracuse, New York, Jan. 31, 1847. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I am looking for information on my great-grandparents, Alfred and Hannah (SJOGREN) NORDHOLM who lived near Hecla sometime between 1900 and 1916. Born 8-17-1882 in Dalarne, Sweden, died 8-18-1916 near Hecla, SD, 37 years of age. Hannah Marie NORDHOLM is buried in the Hecla City Cemetery, services held in the Methodist church in Hecla.

Looking for relatives of Hazel ALTMAN, I have a photogragh taken of her at the "Polin Studio" in Groton, Brown County. I would guess the photo was taken sometime before 1900 to about 1910. She was about 20 years old and on the back of the photo it says to Jessie.

Great grandfather Moses MCBRIDE and one of his sons,Tom MCBRIDE began homesteading in the 1890's. Moses' wife Olena came by Conestoga wagon to join them. After Moses died Olena went back to Wisconsin. Tom stayed there. They are mentioned in the Brown County Book. I would like to know more about them.

I managed to find out that my relatives were from Aberdeen and Mitchell, SD. James Campbell MCDONOUGH and Mrs. J.C. McDonough (Electa Jane HAMILTON is her maiden name) were listed in the Brown County internet site. They would be my great-great grandparents. I have found out only 2 of their children's names, Fayette Hamilton MCDONOUGH and Louis Campbell MCDONOUGH (my great-grandfather) If you could help me find any information on them, I would appreciate it so much. I have not had much luck so far, and this is the first time that I have seen their names when I have done an internet search. Thank you for your time.
