BERRETH, BOEHMER, GEORGE, HENDRICKSON, PETERSON, RIDER posted by Dian Van Deuren on Monday, January 26, 1998

I just found this in an old newspaper. Does anyone have any info on this family after they moved to Aberdeen? Thanks, Dian. Please visit my web page: http://members.wbs.net/homepages/s/w/e/swedeone.html. Also, can any one tell me what this means: "he took over the drayline"

Oliver PETERSON
"Ollie" PETERSON, as he was always known in this locality, was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. PETERSON of La Porte, Ind. His father came to South Dakota in 1883 and filed on a homestead where later his wife and children joined him. As a young man he worked for Frank BOEHMER along with "Doe" GEORGE, Al BERRETH, Tex RIDER and others. He married Bessie HENDRICKSON in 1906 and lived in Le Beau where he took over the drayline after he had served as town marshal. He became the M. & St. L. hostler at Le Beau and also worked for BOEHMER. When Le Beau began to disintegrate he had built a new home so he had that moved here and he was M. & St. L. hostler when Akaska became the terminus of the line. The couple had 6 daughters and a son, namely Jessie, Olyve, Jack, Opal, Gertrude, Winnie and Beryle. He passed away in 1935. Mrs. PETERSON and family moved to Aberdeen where the children could further their education. When some of the family moved to the west coast Mrs. PETERSON went there, too, remaining.

ISAACSON, PAJARI, PETERSON, SUANGI posted by Celene Eliason on Sunday, February 1, 1998

Karl ISAACSON was born in Alkula, Sweden and his wife Anna, was born in Norway. They had one daughter, Mary, when they left for America. Anna became ill on the journey and died when they reached Calumet, MI in 1871. In 1876, Karl married Anna PAJARI. She was a widow with several grown children in Finland and one daughter, Mrs Peter SUANGI here. The SUANGIs lived on the ISAACSON homestead in Dakota for a while. A family tree claims they homesteaded the NE1/4 sec 8 Savo Twp. In 1880 the ISAACSONs left Calumet for the Black Hills. In 1882 they came to Frederick, SD. There is a mystery as the two Anna's and the daughter, some say she was a sister to Mary and some say step-sister. My aunt has said we have relatives by the name of PETERSON. If she was Mrs. Peter SUANGI, where does PETERSON come in? I realize this has lots of questions. I hope someone can help.
