LIER, PAETH, PASCH, SOMBKE posted by James Lewis on Friday, June 28, 1996

Looking for any info to share on the following names:

PAETH looking for anyone with this surname anywhere, anytime! Have info on three different families - especially the ones of Henry Wilhelm of Monroe Co., WI and his brother, Ferdinand of Henry Twp., Brown Co., SD.
PASCH (Gustov & Ferdinand) who were residents in the Groton & James areas from 1880.
SOMBKE family of Verdon/Garden Prarie Twp.
LIER (August & Paul) came from Brandenburg, Prussia in 1881, and were residents of Riverside Twp. & Aberdeen.

To the best of my knowledge, all of the families (except Lier) were from Kreis Stolp, Pommern, Prussia, arriving in Wisconsin in the late 1870s before moving to Brown County in the early 1880s.

I am researching the Edwin S. DIXON family who moved from Cayuga County, NY, to Brown County, SD, during 1880-1900.
Edwin was born as a twin on Nov. 1822 and his wife, Semantha J. STURGE, was born on Nov. 1833. They had five children: Herbert, Agnes, George W., William and Robert J.
If you are a descendant or a fellow DIXON researcher, I would like to hear from you. I am also interested in tracing a hereditary hearing disorder (Otosclerosis) which may be running in this Dixon family.

BAKER, BROSTE, FULLER, GALUSHA, KOUTZ, PRICE, SHELDON, YEOMANS posted by Cindy Bryant on Sunday, September 8, 1996

Brown Co., SD had our Searight KOUTZ who moved to near Hecla, in the 1880s. At one point he owned a livery stable with son in law Jerome GALUSHA. About the turn of the century, I think they moved to Roberts Co.
Have some info on this family and their desc. but have not located all of them. Searight's son Willie Arthur KOUTZ married Idaho Montanna FULLER in 1888 in Detroit, Brown County; Searight's daughter Emma KOUTZ married Jerome GALUSHA in 1884, may have been in MI or SD, they lived in Claremont, SD. After Jerome died in 1893, (sept 14 but dont have obit) she remarried Edwin PRICE sometime in 1896.
John Henry KOUTZ (1870-1927), no children died in Okla.; Julietta KOUTZ married Frank YEOMANS about 1900, she died 1906 leaving a daughter Mary (b. 1902) who married an Ernest SHELDON, several children, no further information. Son Custer James KOUTZ married Laura BROSTE at Marshal Co., SD, in 1900 - have most of their desc. I believe Ruth (KOUTZ) BAKER (still alive at 95) donated some pictures of the early settlers to the museum in Aberdeen, but letters to them asking for info were never answered.

I'm trying to trace my great grandfather and g.g.mother who were married in South Dakota (Dakota Territory) in about the late 1860's. Their names were Samuel Foulkes JONES and Tillie THOMAS, who is believed to have been born in Aberdeen. Their son, Charles Bentley JONES was born on June 4, 1875, either in the Black Hills or at Vermillion. I would be grateful for any information on Samuel and Tillie's place and date of marriage, and Charles' place of birth. Tillie died in about 1879 in South Dakota (unknown county). Samuel may have been in the 7th Cavalry in 1876 at the Relief of Colonel Custer.
