Hagood home, built in the late 1850s on the edge of Old Pickens, is now located on Lewis Street (off the east end of Main Street) in Pickens, South Carolina. The house, which has suffered ad- ditions since it was moved to Pickens around 1869, contains the Irma Morris Fine Arts Collection and is usually open to the public on Sun- day afternoons. There is a small admission charge. A number of log structures of varying dates from Oconee County are now located in a special section of the Clemson University Hor- ticultural Garden. The gardens are open to the public. Location: To reach the gardens, follow Highway 76/123 east across the Seneca River (Lake Hartwell) into Pickens County. After crossing the bridge, go 1 and 1/10 miles and fork right onto Anderson Highway (Hwy. 76). Then proceed 1 mile and turn right onto Perimeter Road. The garden entrance and parking lot, marked by stone gateposts, is 1/2 mile on the left.
