SKIPPER, SKIPWORTH posted by Teresa Shands on Friday, January 5, 2001

I am trying to find the parents/family of a man named Richard SKIPPER/SKIPWORTH who was born abt 1777 in SC and migrated to Monroe Co Ky before 1820. In 1830, he is found on the census for neighboring Cumberland Co KY as Richard SKIPWORTH. He died in IL Mar 15 1850. He may have had a brother or other relative named Redin/Redding or some similar name who was in Monroe Co in 1830,age 40-50.(This man probably the father of a Redding Skipworth who was born abt 1811 SC.) There was a Redick Skipper on page 140 of the 1820 census for Horry Co. SC, according to the AIS index on Ancestry.com. I haven't seen the actual census yet and do not know if the first name is spelled correctly or not. If anyone is researching a Skipper family with these names, please contact me. There are several other Skipworth names in the Monroe Co Ky and Jackson Co TN area as well as several counties in IL that I am trying to connect. Many members of the various Skipworth families also used the name Skipper. The name Skipworth itself is misspelled in a variety of ways in many records. Any help finding these men would be greatly appreciated.

BROWN, GASQUE posted by Christy Pedersen on Saturday, January 27, 2001

I am trying to find out what unit my GGGGrandfather, Alexander BROWN served in during the Civil War. He was born 6/7/1816 in Horry County and died 9/18/1907 (buried in the Mintz cemetery in Brunswick Co NC beside his wife, Nellie GASQUE). I have found the name "Alexander Brown" on the rosters of the following SC units: Co. F, 1st SC Artillery and Co. B, 13th SC Infantry. I wonder if anyone knows if either of these units would have come from the Horry County area? Any help would be appreciated.

They were all born in Conway, SC. I would really like to find info on Pearley. This is my greatgrandmother. My grandfather is terminally ill and doesn't remember much about the family. This is info that was passed down through the family. I am trying to find as much as I can for him and he is excited about it. I have a copy of the Census of 1900 taken June 1 of that year. It shows Bucks township in Horry County. It states Pearley TINDAL was enumerated with the family of SIDNEY A. and ADELLA A. TINDAL. A copy was sent to Pearley Brown (Tindal) as a birth record and only listed her and her month and year of birth. She married an OCIE SIDNEY BROWN Sept.1,1914. Not sure if that was in South Carolina or in Florida which is where the Brown family is located. She had 3 sisters and far as granddaddy can remember. They were FAMEY, DELANNEY and ALICE. Not sure if spelling correct on the first two names. I would appreciate any help I can get in locating this for my granddaddy. Thanks, Donna
