William "Billy" Norris Jr. of Columbus County married Priscilla Alford (1786-1887) of Horry County. Priscilla was the daughter of John B. Alford and Dolly Carroll. John was the son of William Alford. BUFFKIN, CARTER, COX, STANLEY, TODD, WRIGHT posted by Jason Bordeaux on Sunday, December 20, 1998

Henyard Cox was the son of Benjamin Cox and Marinda Wright of Columbus County. Marinda had originally lived in Pitt and Samspon counties before moving with her father Isaac Wright to Columbus County. I'm not sure whether Benjamin was part of the SC Cox group or whether he came from Pitt or Sampson County. Benjamin Cox was born about 1790 and Marinda Wright was born about 1795. Their children were: 1) Kezeah Cox m. John Todd 2) Mary Ann "Cheyanne" Cox m. Joseph Elmore Carter 3) Deanna Cox m. Jesse Carter 4) Nancy Cox m. Edward H. Todd 5) Henyard Cox 6) Isaac J. Cox (1811-1895) m. Mary Molcy Stanley 7) Lydia Cox m. Malcolm Wright 8) Mary T. "Polly" Cox (1828-1899) m. Pink Buffkin This family lived on the Columbus/Horry county border.

TYLER, WATTS, WRIGHT posted by Jason Bordeaux on Sunday, December 20, 1998

Berryman Watts lived on the border of Columbus/Horry counties. He was listed on the 1763 tax list of Bladen County which is what Columbus was a part of before it was formed. Berryman's family is shown partly in Columbus County and partly in Horry County in later records. His wife was Mary. Berryman wrote out a will in Columbus County in 1811. His will mentions acreage in NC and SC. His children were: 1) Richard Watts 2) Penelope Watts 3) Mary Watts m. Moses Tyler 4) Ezekiel Watts 5) Phillip Watts (b. 1788) m. Dicey 6) John Watts (b. 1792) m. Nancy Wright I'm interested in finding descendants of these children. There were so many males in the family that it is hard to piece it together. Also, where did Berryman Watts originate? There is a William Berryman Watts listed in Accomack County, Virginia in 1638. This is obviously a kinsman due to the unique name of Berryman.

HARRELSON, HUGGINS, THOMPSON posted by Jo Church Dickerson on Thursday, December 24, 1998

Seeking information about James T. THOMPSON who resided in Horry County SC in 1870 - census shows James and wife Martha "Pattie" HARRELSON residing near Pattie's sister, Jane Harrelson HUGGINS, in Floyd's Township. Although he was in Bladen Co NC in 1900 & 1910, there are family stories that place James in Bucksport area of Horry around 1908. Was he a minister? James' oldest son Solomon THOMPSON may have remained in Horry. Also seeking information or descendants of James Thompson's probable brothers Stephen THOMPSON, William THOMPSON, and John C. THOMPSON. All these brothers born c1820's/30's in Marion County SC.
