The Cherokee County SCGenWeb Project (like all of the USGenWeb Project) is a volunteer run project dedicated to enhancing the enjoyment of the genealogical hobby among those searching for ancestors in what is now Cherokee County South Carolina.  We are not driven by the need for financial gain in any way but we do always need more volunteers to help transcribe documents, record cemeteries, and compile information.

Though we have little control over the privacy policy of our web hosting service or over the actions of spammers and "harvest bots" -- the managers of this web do not collect any personal information from our guests and as far as we know the only cookie that this web sets is one designed to determine your browser edition and connection speed.  We use that information only to help us determine what changes to these pages might make your visit to our web more enjoyable and useful. 

The Cherokee County SCGenWeb Project makes every effort to protect the copyright privileges of all authors, to protect the privacy of living persons, and to recognize contributors of data when possible.  We try to maintain a policy of allowing no information about living persons to be posted to these pages without the express permission of those persons. 

That we link to a web page off of this site does not imply our approval of that page (since we can't know what changes they may make at a later date) nor do we warrant the information on those pages.  The information on our pages is believed to be correct but no warranty is made or implied.  This is a volunteer project which seeks no funding from visitors or advertisers -- we work on it as our time allows...

We manage the [email protected] mailing list and the Rootsweb/Ancestry Message Board for Cherokee County South Carolina.  As a matter of course, we do not moderate those forums - we instead expect each poster to follow generally accepted rules of internet etiquette.  We do however reserve the right to moderate those boards at any time while leaving responsibility for posts and contributions with the individual making posting the message.

We welcome the offers of help from anyone interested in Cherokee County South Carolina genealogy -- this is, after all, a resource for community use.
