In some periods past the acceptance of over-weight was more or less equal than it is now. In the 30's and 40's of the twentieth-century there were a number of postcard issuers that developed humor cards dealing with "large women". In some of these, the card is obviously derogatory towards these women - in others they present the wonderful diversity of size - and in yet others they are obviously flattering. Even those cards which portray women who are hardly "fat" are obviously favoring women larger than those portrayed in the more common "pin-up" cards of the era. Personally, I prefer "big girls" and I really like these cards. These cards are "linen era" predominantly from the late 30's and WWII era of the early 40's in the personal collection of Carson Turner.
