WHY I AM INTERESTED IN THIS FAMILY:
Cornelius White's first wife was Elizabeth Acker and they married in NY state before coming to Prince Edward County (click here to see them below). In trying to locate the White family in or near Beekman Patent it has been useful to learn more about the Acker family and its movements.  I want to thank Jon Acker, Gretchen Krohnfeldt and Bonny Campbell for providing the information below. A number of the children of Johannes Eckhardt (John Acker) came to Upper Canada. We welcome new information from other researchers.

Recent items that need examination (July 2011)
Bonny Campbell found a document presented to the Quinte OGS Branch by Joseph J Brown in 1986 that has this information on it. Peter Johnson followed up and  found 3 pages at Quinte Branch OGS and 6 more at the Marilyn Adams Research Centre (Gen-Bro-001-01).
There are some differences to what Jon Acker presents below and they need to be resolved.

*Jon Acker writes, pointing out some errors in the above: "re. David Acker marrying Francis Van Der Vort - whoever provided that info was wrong, of course, because Francis Vandervoort was a male, and married to Hannah Acker.  I believe he might have been correct about John and "Tena" Brill having a son named David since that name runs through all branches of the Acker family. It is my further belief that this "David" was very likely the first husband of that widow Nancy Acker who then married Hugh Fletcher. As for the Mary Acker who married Moses Alley, Mary was a sister of Adam (actually a half-sister, because she was born after Johannes was already married to second wife Christina Brill) and not John Acker and Christina Brill. Jon Acker writes; "This 'working outline' represents our most current understanding of the Beekman Acker clan, and includes a major recent change -- namely, we believe that Christina Brill was not the second wife of the elder Johannes who married Christina Wies, but rather the "Unknown" wife of Johannes Jr.  This makes much more sense for a number of reasons, not least of which being that their daughter Elizabeth (b. 1772) fits neatly into that large gap in the lineup of Johannes Jr's children, between Hannah (b. abt 1777) and John (b. 1790).  It might well be, then, that the Acker brothers (Adam and John) married Brill sisters (Mary and Christina).  Perhaps the Brill experts out there can place them...

This outline also includes the Isaac and Caty Dean family which we feel belongs, and our most recent discovery -- the Charles Newton line...

I suspect that the John Newton who was born abt July/August 1780 and died in 1826, whose wife was Phebe Wright, might be the son of Charles and Catherine, and research is still underway...."

I almost think her first husband didn’t make it to Iowa, USA. By William she had two children William & Ida. After her death Ida was raised by her step brother Edward Wood West as a daughter. My wife is also his descendant.
