In addition to genealogy, one of my [many] other hobbies is stamp collecting. Several years ago my daughters and I attended a local stamp show and purchased a box lot of philatelic items. Among the hundreds of items in the box were quite a few old envelopes. We went through all of the items and when we were looking through the old envelopes [which stamp collectors call "covers"], I was quite surprised to find that many of them had correspondence still inside. The dates on these items range from the 1870s to the 1930s. The majority of these were addressed to individuals with the surnames Tubbs and Grant. We read through the letters, replaced them in their envelopes and packed them away. I recently ran across the box again and went online to see if there was any information there about the Tubbs, Grant and Crone individuals named in the correspondence. After finding these individuals in 3 separate databases on rootsweb, I decided to scan the documents I have and put them online so that the information is available to others researching those families. I am not
related to these individuals, and have no further information -- so I cannot
answer any genealogical questions about them. The only information I have
regarding them is from the documents that I own and I'm placing scanned
images of all of those online. All of the information and/or images are
copyrighted by me and are provided for personal genealogical research only
-- they may not be copied, printed, used or redistributed in any form (including
transcriptions) or for any other purpose.
Since I am not related and cannot give any further genealogical assistance regarding these individuals, I wrote to Richard Tubbs who has an online database and is researching these individuals. He generously offered to let me use info from his site to briefly outline who these individuals are and to be the contact person if anyone would like to correspond about these people or their families. historians should equally do something that they can to share information
to further the research and knowledge of others. Please support and help
free genealogy prosper by sharing your records and/or research -- if you
can't put it online, find someone who can. | ||||||
My sincere thanks to my "genealogical angels" -- all of the
special people who have helped me in my genealogy research and those who
