PEANUT BLOSSOMS Loretta McFeaters

1 3/4 c. flour 1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar 1 unbeaten egg
1 tsp. vanilla 1 pkg. chocolate candy kisses

Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Cream shortening, sugars, and peanut butter. Add egg and vanilla to shortening-sugar mixture. Work in dry ingredients. Shape into balls and place on greased baking sheet. Bake 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Top each with a chocolate candy kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edge. Return to oven and bake 2 to 5 minutes longer.
