obituary of Sarah Hunt Ellis "Mrs. Sarah C. Ellis, widow of Samuel Ellis, who resided with her brother, Elston Hunt at North Bloomfield, was stricken with apoplexy Monday afternoon about 5 o'clock and died a few minutes later without regaining consciousness. She was 67 years of age and had lived in Honeoye Falls the great part of her life. Three years ago, after the death of her husband she went to live with her brother. About six years since her eyes began to fail and in a short time she became totally blind. She seemed reconciled to her affliction and was not depressed thereby. She was born in North Bloomfield in July, 1836, and was married on Christmas Day, 1866. She had no children of her own, Mrs. George Mayo of Victor, being a step-daughter. The deceased was one of two sisters, the other, Mrs. Edwin Bond, died in 1878. There are six brothers, Elston and William Hunt of North Bloomfield, Sidney and Barrett Hunt of Rochester, Arthur Hunt of Honeoye Falls, and Frank Hunt of Grand Rapids, Mich. The children of her sister, Mrs. Bond, William of Massachusetts, Platt of Hornellsville, and Mrs. Firgon of Minnesota, were quite small at the time of their mother's death. Mrs. Ellis at once assumed the care of the children, and her loving solicitude and watchfulness for their comfort did much to assuage the deep grief caused by the loss of their mother. This required considerable sacrifice on Mrs. Ellis' part, but she gladly assumed the burden as one of love and sisterly duty. The funeral was held from teh house at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Rev. B. B. Fairchilds of the Universalist church, officiating. The interment was in the North Bloomfield Cemetery."
