obituary of Mabel Shepard "Mabel Shepard, of Ideson Rd., Honeoye Falls, passed away at the Livingston County Infirmary on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1974, at the age of 81. She was born in Honeoye Falls Oct 31, 1892 to Will and Lillian Hunt Shepard. She attended school in Honeoye Falls, and graduated from Teacher's Training Class in Rochester. She then taught for two years in Rochester, following which she went to Mechanics Institute (now RIT) and took an applied arts course. She then worked as an occupational therapist, working at Mt. View Sanitarium in Lockport; Taughannock Falls Sanitarium in Trumansburg, and the Reconstruction Home in Ithaca. She retired in the mid 1930's. Miss Shepard was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary, Post 664, Honeoye Falls; the Genesee Valley Quilt Club in Rochester, of which she served as treasurer for six years; a member of the Totiakton Garden Club, and the Honeoye Falls-Town of Mendon Historical Society. She is survived by two sisters; Mrs. Mina S. Proper, of Saratoga Springs, Miss Helen G. Shepard, of Honeoye Falls; one brother, Leslie M. Shepard, of Bradenton, Fl.; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 11, at The Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, 59 Monroe St., Honeoye Falls. The Rev. Arthur Guild officiated. Interment followed in North Bloomfield Cemetery. Friends wishing may make contributions to the Genesee Valley Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society in her memory."
