Alexandria Gazette 10 March 1842 pg 3, col 4: Died: At Philadelphia, on the 3d instant, BERNARD M. CARTER, Esq. in the 62nd year of his age, after a severe illness. 6 April 1860 pg 3, col 2: Died. In Philadelphia, on the 24th ultimo, in the 75th year of her age, Mrs. LUCY LEE CARTER, relict of the late B. Moore Carter, of Virginia, and daughter of the late Major-General Henry Lee, of the army of the Revolution. 3 January 1815 pg 3, col 3: Died on the 31st ult in the 51st year of his age, the Hon. Nicholas Fitzhugh one of the Judges of the Circuit Court for the District of Columbia. In the charities of domestic life he exhibited all the virtues which could endear him to his friends. In his religious exercises he was exemplary; and in the discharge of his public duties, his diligence, integrity and patience gained him the confidence and respect of his fellow citizens. One week only has elapsed since his heart was severely wounded by the death of a beloved and a most excellent son; and although he seem'd to bear the loss with the fortitude of a christian (sic), yet a stroke so severe must have accelerated the fatal termination of his disease. A widow & a large family mourn the loss of one of the best of husbands, fathers and friends. 27 November 1843 pg 3, col 2: Died, at his residence, in the County of Fairfax, Va., on the 23d instant, Mr. THOMAS FITZHUGH, in the 82nd year of his age. Mr. Fitzhugh was an old and highly respected citizen of his County, and was, at the time of his death, and had been, for some years before, the presiding Justice of the Court of his County. He has left a very large circle of relations, connexions (sic), and friends, to cherish and respect the memory of his many virtues. 4 December 1843 pg 3, col 2: Died: In announcing the death of Mr. Thomas Fitzhugh, a few days ago, it should have been stated that he was of Fauquier County, not of Fairfax. 24 January 1853 pg 2, col 7: Died. At his residence in Fauquier County, on Friday, inst., GILES FITZHUGH, esq., in the 80th year of his age. Mr. Fitzhugh was a bachelor, and leaves a will by which he liberates all his slaves, to the number of 18 or 20. 10 April 1858 pg 3, col 3: Died. At his residence, in Fairfax County, on the morning of the 3rd inst., Mr. M. COOK FITZHUGH, in the 89th year of his age. 8 May 1860 pg 3, col 3: Died. On Saturday last, in Warrenton, Va., BERKELY WARD, an old and esteemed citizen of that place.
