Notes and Acknowledgements

I have struggled to get this information on my website.  I have a lot of material on paper and I wanted to get the most important summarized.  Several trips to New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the Family History Library at Salt Lake City filled notebooks and folders.  I have had the key piece of information that John TenBrook last wife was not Catherine Emmons but Anna for 10 years.

Dutch Naming Patterns are very important and first made me suspicious about “Katie” Emmons

Spelling

Sorry, but back in the 18th century spelling was a haphazard thing. If there is a document I tried to use the spelling in the document.

Readington Church Records are online on Ancestry if you are a member and at Family Search but only at a Branch Library or the Salt Lake Library.

Lots of online trees list John TenBrook as John Cornelius TenBrook, I have found NO records that he had a middle name.

I have parts of the book “An Emmons genealogy” /compiled by Corwin J. Emmons ; updated by Wilbur D. Emmons.  There are errors including confusing Anna Emmons (Ten Brook) with a sister Mary who married George Schamp by adding a middle name of Ann.

Genealogy has never been an individual endeavor.  Thank you to T. Don TenBrook, Craig Ten Broeck, Judith TenBrook and Robert Sterling for the information they have shared.  Although they are no longer here I am also very greatful for the help I received from Eleanor Yeomans and Owen TenBrook Jones.
