Will of John Lewis (Loos), deceased

In the name of God Amen, I John Loos of Greene County and State of Pennsylvania, taking into consideration the shortness of this transitory life being sickly and weak of Body, but thanks be to God of perfect mind and understanding, do make, ordain and constitute this my last Will and Testament in the manner following; and firstly I recommend my Soul to the Almighty God from whom I originally received it; my body to the cool Earth, there to be buried in a decent Christian manner, at the discretion of my Executor's herein after mentioned, to rest in hopes of a glorious Resurrection at the last day. My worldly effects wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I dispose of in the manner following. My beloved wife Elizabeth discharging my funeral expences and other Debts, I hereby invest with full authority and privilege of all my Goods and Chattles of every denomination and description likewise of one hundred acres of Land, including the new dwelling house, Garden, and Orchard, for her sole occupation and management, jointly with my minor Children for her and their maintenance during her life time if she remains in Widdowhood, but in case of a second Marriage to receive no more out of the whole estate as it stands now than Children's share, at her decease the said reserve, with all other property that may be found under the aforementioned restrictions to be sold to the highest bidder and the result thereof equally distributed amongst my lawfull Children herein mentioned.
    The remaining part of my landed Estate consisting of one hundred and sixty nine acres of Land, I devise to be sold at my decease to the highest Bidder, and the result thereof equally to be distributed among my beloved Children to wit: My son Tilghman John Henry; John George; Elizabeth; John; Sarah; Daniel; Anna Mary; and unto my beloved Brother in Law Henry Huffman I devise and bequeath a young Mare three years old this present Spring. And lastly I constitute and appoint my trusty and beloved Friends Christopher Prong and Peter Heck Executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and disannulling all others formerly made by me, mentioned, meant, or intended so to be, declaring this to be my last and no other. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of May A. D. one thousand eight hundred and five.
