Charles Philipp Zorbach was born on the last day of 1832 in Bergen-Enkheim, Hessen. He immigrated to Baltimore with his parents where he married Joseph Ruppert's eldest daughter, Magdalena in 1858. This signature was found on an 1871 petition to the Mayor and City Council in support of a new school being built in East Baltimore on land that was coincidentally owned by his father-in-law. Zorbach died in 1885.
