This is the William "Billy" Heffley story as I know it:
They spelled their last name with two f's (Heffley).

William "Billy" was son of Daniel Heffley and Eliza. J. Greenhaw.
Fannie was the daughter of Owen Guthrie, born in Mississippi, and
Mary Jane Hicks, born in Alabama. Owen came to Newton County from
Texas in 1883.

Billy was born in May 1862 in Newton County, Arkansas.
He married FANNIE GUTHRIE on 29 Dec 1887 (Book C,page 18)in Newton
County, Arkansas.
Fannie Guthrie was born March 1872 in Jackson County, Mississippi.
She was sister to LuElla "Eller"Guthrie who married Thomas Jefferson
Hefley.

The William and Fannie Heffley children were:
(1) VIOLA HEFFLEY, born 17 Feb 1889.
She married LAWRENCE FOSTER on 12 Nov 1905 (page 103)Newton County.
Lawrence was son of John F. Foster (Charles and Mary Nichols Foster
Family)and Mary E. Wright (Sebern and Celia Davis Wright Family).
Lawrence was born 15 June 1881 at Mt. Judea, Arkansas and died
in 1985 in Texas.
Viola Heffley Foster died 25 March 1945 at
Collinsville, Texas
Their known Foster children were:
i: Ora Alice Foster, born 24Nov1906. Married ERAL CLARK.

ii: Jessie Foster, born 14 Dec 1908.She married ROY KELTNER

iii: Cora Lee Foster,born 30 Jan 1911. She married FRANCIS CLARK on
12 Nov 1930 at unknown place.

iv: Goldie Foster, born 3 June 1913. She married MACK WILLIAMS.

V: Myrtle Foster, born 11 Nov 1915 in Texas.
She married KENNETH WILLIAMS on 14 Oct 1933, probably Collinsville.

vi:Clarice Foster, born 5 Oct 1920. She married (1)CLIFTON DAVIDSON
and (2) GUY WILLIAMS.

vii:Eva Foster, born 12 Jan 1921. She married CLARENCE WALKER.

viii:Elmo Leon Foster, born 29 May 1923. He married PAT SMITH

ix:John Homer Foster, born 5 July 1925. He married BOBBIE DATSON.

x: Mary Francis Foster, born 19 May 1932. She married BILL DAVIS.

He married PEARL UPTON, age 24, of Everton (Boone Co.AR) on
23 April 1914 (L-354) Boone County, Arkansas.
Two known sons:

ii: Noel Heffley
Daniel Jep died 13 Jan 1919 with burial in Sexton Cemetery, Newton
County.

(3)COLUMBUS TALMAGE HEFFLEY, born 9 Jan 1892.
He married BILLIE HAYGOOD in 1924. Talmage died in 1972 at unknown
place. Do not know names of his children.

(4)ROSETTA HEFFLEY,born 2 July 1893.
She married GEORGE JONES on 20 July 1913 (page 275)Newton County.
Known Jones children were:
i: Fama Jones
ii: Floyd Jones
iii: Darroll Jones
Rosetta Heffley Jones died in 1985 at unknown place.

He married (1)VERNA STRONG on 14 Sept 1919 (page 531)Newton County.
He married(2)VIRGIE GEORGE in 1956.

Marcus died in 1972 at unknown place.

(7)FLOYD FRANKLIN HEFFLEY,born 21 Sept 1898.
He married BESSIE "Bess" CANSADA DICKEY on 21 Dec 1919 (page 556)
in Newton County.
Known Floyd Franklin Heffley Children:
i: Ferris Ormond Heffley, born 1 May 1921 at Mt. Judea, Arkansas.
Ormond served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
His plane was shot down over France in 1944. Ormond was captured with
several of his crew and spent 3 months in a French hospital
recovering from a severe leg wound. He then spent the next 10 months
in POW camps in Moosburg and Nurenburg, Germany. He was liberated in
May of 1945. He received many medals for his service in the
Air Force. Do not know where he is buried.
Ormond married ANN COOPER in 1951 and they had three sons.

ii: William Edward Heffley, born 17 April 1924 at Mt. Judea,
Arkansas. He joined the Marines and served at Guadacanal. Was
stationed in Australia and participated in the invasion of Tarawa and
Peliliu. He was discharged from the Marines in January 1946.
He went back to Australia and married DOROTHY BATCH on 28 Feb 1948.
He and Dorothy have three sons and one daughter.

iii: Dale Lee Heffley (twin) born 8 Dec 1929 in Arkansas.
Dale married OLA MAY HENDERSON on 15 Jan 1966.They have one son.
Dale was drafted into the Army in 1951. He served in Germany until
March 1953. Dale was an ordained Church of Christ Minister.
Dale died on 8 Sept 1984.

iv:Gerald Francis Heffley (twin),born 8 Dec 1929 in Arkansas.
Gerald enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in New York.
He married VALTA JOANN WALDEN in August 1959.

v: Lois Ludella Heffley, born in Arkansas.
She married DENNIS BROCK on 17 Dec 1952. They had four children.

vi: John Paul Heffley was born in Arkansas.
He was 3-l/2 when they moved to Texas. He joined the Army in 1953.
He married SARAH MORALES in June 1959.
He is now a commercial artist. They have 4 children.

vii: Anna Delight Heffley, was born near Ethel Texas on 17 Sept 1938.
She married (1) HOWARD LONG in 1957. One daughter.
Anna married (2) DON CLINE in 1984.

viii: James Dickey Heffley was born 12 Jan 1941 at Ethel, Texas.
He married BETTY DOZIER and they have 5 children.

She married BILL PARRISH in 1929.
Loudella died in 1930 at unknown place.

Rosetta was daughter of William Gaither Duck and Della Hattie George.

She married THEO GUNTER in 1923. Theo was from Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

She married D. L. HURLEY of Stephensville, Texas in 1926.

(12)ARVIE ELTON HEFfLEY, born 31 Dec 1907.
He married UNA HUTCHINS in 1929.

Owen Guthrie Heffley died in 1979.

(14)TEDDY ROOSEVELT HEFFLEY,born 12 Aug 1909.
He married INA DAWSON in 1934.
Teddy died 11 May 1990.

(15)LORAND L. HEFFLEY, born 11(28?)Sept 1911.
He married DORIS JOHNSON in 1940.

(16)CLAYTON HEFFLEY,born 14 Sept 1913.
He married MOZELLE ELSTON in 1948.
Clayton died in 1961.

She married (1)ROSS WALKER in 1934.

William "Billy" Heffley died 18 Dec 1954 at the age of 92 years. Francis Elizabeth "Fannie" Guthrie Heffley died 25 August 1952 in Texas. Are they buried in Stephensville, Texas?

The family is on the 1900 Newton County, Arkansas Census, in Big Creek Township, Visit 194-219; 7 children, 7 living.

1910 Newton County, Arkansas Census, Big Creek, Visit 35-35 with 15 children- 15 living.
