Services are to be held at 10 am Thursday at the Mounds Cemetery with

Burial is to follow in the Mounds Cemetery under the direction of
Owen Funeral Home.
Smith was born March 14, 1933 in Artusse to Gilbert Taylor and
Sarah Rosetta Smith. He first married BETTY LOU HESTAND on 18Dec1954 at Henryetta, OK.
He was married secondly on Oct 3, 1992 in Mounds to SARAH MAE SMITH
and was a machine operator with Liberty Glass Co. for more than 30
years. He had lived in this area for the last 40 years of his life,
coming from Eufaula.
He is survived by wife Sarah Mae of the home; mother
Sarah Rosetta "Rosie" Smith of Sapulpa; step-son Rusty Brown of
Sapulpa; step-daughters Angela Lassiter of Sapulpa and
Valerie N. Brown of Japan; brothers Clayton Smith and Lester Smith,
both of Mounds; sisters Lola Anderson of Mounds,Loretta Mann of
Broken Arrow, and Marcine Norman of Choctaw; and two step-
grandchildren.

at Tulsa Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 am Thursday at Mounds

She was born May 30, 1938, in Okmulgee, and moved to Mounds in 1961
from the Henryetta area.
She married Dan Smith Dec 18, 1954,in Henryetta.She was a housewife.
Survivors include husband, Dan; mother Roxie Hestand of Mounds; and
sisters Inez Jones of Crosby, Texas, and Lois Smith of Mounds.
The family will headquarter at 215 E. Ninth Street in Mounds.

Gilbert T Smith died 15 June 1979 at Mounds, Oklahoma
Sarah Rosetta Nuckolls Smith died 10 Jan 1998 and is buried in Mounds Cemetery,buried beside her husband.

When Gilbert was in his 60s he moved his family to the east side of
Eufaula, Oklahoma.
The Federal Corp of Engineers later bought their Eufaula home for it
was going to be part of Lake Eufaula.
Gilbert took the money from the sale and bought a home in Checotah,
Oklahoma.
The Gilbert Smith family lived in Checotah until they both needed
someone to help them in the middle 1970s.
Their sons Clayton and Daniel bought a mobile home and moved them
behind their son Daniel and Betty Smith home at Mounds, Oklahoma.
Clayton only lived 200 feet away and both Daniel and Clayton Smith
families could provide them the necessary support to take care of
their needs for Gilbert was near 90.
Gilbert Taylor Smith and Sarah Rosetta Nuckols Smith had eleven
children, two that were stillborn.
Gilbert was named after his great uncle Gilbert Taylor Smith, born
10 Sept 1831 in Tennessee.
He was the brother of John M. Smith, who was Gilbert T Smith's
Grandfather.
Father was Stephen Smith, born March 1843 in Newton County,Arkansas.
Mother was Polly Ann O'Neal, born 1856 in Tennessee.

Gilbert Taylor Smith was born December 17, 1886 in Jasper, Newton
County Arkansas and died at Mounds, Okla. June 15, 1979
(Fathers Day) in Mounds, Oklahoma. He is buried at Mounds Cemetery.
Sarah Rosetta Nuckles was born March 14, 1900 and died at Mounds,
Okla. Jan 10, 1998 and is buried at Mounds Cemetery beside her
husband.
Gilbert was a farmer at Autessee Oklahoma, near Eufaula.
When Gilbert was in his sixties he moved his family to the East Side

Clarksville Convalescent Home. She was a daughter of the late William and Mary Bowen Warren, widow

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Miller and Magdalene Ashley
both of Lamar; one sister Bertha Elms of Clarksville;one brother
William Warren of Lamar; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren;

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, May 26 at Roller-Cox Chapel with
Rev Gary Blair officiating. Burial was in Lamar Cemetery.
