JOHN STARR FAMILY
This is the John Starr family as I know it
JOHN S. STARR was born 18 April 1842 (per tombstone record in the
Pruitt Cemetery in Newton County, Arkansas.
His parents were Michael Starr, born 1827 in Polk County, Tennessee
and LUCY ANN OLIVE, born 1826 in Virginia.
John Starr's death date is 6 Jan 1925 on the tombstone.
Other records show him being born 29 April 1847 in Osage County, Missouri.
He married SARAH ELIZABETH AGEE on 16 Feb 1868 in Osage County,
Missouri.
Sarah Elizabeth Agee was born 10 Feb 1846 in Polk County, Missouri
My records show Sarah as being on the CHOCTAW INDIAN ROLL #26187
Has anyone looked up her Choctaw Roll Number?
She was the daughter of William Oliver Agee, born 10 March 1816 in
Smith County, Tennessee.
Her mother was HANNA MARINDA THORNTON, born 23 Jan 1824 in Callaway
County, Missouri.

The Starr children I have record of were:
i: Emily C. Starr
born 19 May 1869 in Missouri.
Emily C. Starr, age 18, Pt. Peter, married JOHN T. QUIGLEY, 21, of
Mt.Hersey, on 12 Oct 1885 in Newton County, Arkansas.

ii: Saletie Ann Starr
born 9 Nov 1870 in Missouri
She married ROBERT "Jobe" EDDINGS Jr. on 4 Sept 1890 in Newton
County, Arkansas.

Children:
1) Martha Eddings, born 29 June 1891. Died 12 July 1973.
She is buried in Carver Cemetery.

2) Lawrence Eddings, born 11 Aug 1892. Married HATTIE WATERS on
22 Mar 1914 (I-354) in Newton County.
Lawrence died 30 Dec 1961 and is buried in Carver Cemetery.

3) Ernest V. Eddings, born 1897. Ernest married ARIZONA WATERS on
15 June 1919 (J-496)in Newton County.

4)James H. Eddings. Born 8 Nov 1898. James died 12 Sept 1967 with
burial in Carver Cemetery.

5) Zalea Eddings. Born 27 April 1901. Died 29 Sept 1902 and is buried
in Carver Cemetery.

Saletie Starr Eddings died on 29 April 1901(two days after giving
birth to baby Zalea Eddings )and is buried in Carver Cemetery, Newton County,Arkansas.

Robert "Jobe" Eddings married (2)MOLLIE DICKEY ASHER on 16 July
1914 in Newton County.

iii: William Joseph "Joe" Starr
Born in 1873 in Missouri.
He married INDIA EDDINGS on 25 Aug 1892 in Newton County, Arkansas.
India Eddings Starr died 9 June 1901 and is buried in the Carver
Cemetery in Newton County.
India was daughter of James and Martha Jones Eddings.
Joe died in Wyoming. No further information

iv: Nancy E Starr
born 4 Aug 1874 (tombstone date 2Aug1871)
She married:
(1) LEONARD CHRISTIAN ca 1896.
Leonard Christian died in 1936 and is buried in the Haskell Cemetery
They had a son who served in WWI in 387th Infantry, 97th Division
from Oklahoma
Nancy E. Starr married (2) J. M. PIERCE on 9 April 1902 in Newton
County, Arkansas.
J. M. Pierce had several Pierce children when he married Nancy.
Nancy E Starr Christian Pierce married (3) Ranzy ATNIP.
Nancy E Starr died 9 Dec 1960 and is buried as Nancy ATNIP in the
Haskell Cemetery, Muskogee County, Oklahoma in Lot 20.

v: Mary Florence Starr
Born 1876. Her tombstone in the Hasty Cemetery gives the dates of
8 March 1887 to 6 Jan 1920 (Newton County Cemetery Book by Haddock).
Mary married DAVID VESTOR NICHOLS on 21 Mar 1898 in Newton County,
Arkansas. David Nichols was son of "Old John" Nichols and Martha
Pickett Burdine Nichols

David Vestor Nichols children were:
1)John Talmage Nichols, born 9 Jan 1899
He married MARY WILSON on 29 July 1923 in Newton County
Talmage gave his address as Haskell, Muskogee County, Oklahoma on
his marriage certificate.
Talmage died on 26 Nov 1926 and is buried in Hasty Cemetery,
Newton County.
After Talmage Nichols died, his widow Mary Wilson Nichols married:
(2) ELZIE NORVELL, age 21 of Hasty, on 7 Oct 1928 in Newton County

2) Lucy Nichols, born Jan 1902
She married FRANK GARNER on 26 Oct 1919 in Newton County.
Known Garner children were:
1. Mary Garner
2. Ardith Garner
3. Famouh Garner
4. Berln Garner
5. Niva Garner
6. Veatle Garner
7. Willie Garner
Lucy Nichols Garner died in Jan 1985 in California

3)Wrenda E. Nichols, born 18 May 1903
She married MATT MANNS (1884-1962). No children
Wrenda is buried in Mt. Judea Cemetery in Newton County with no
dates on her markers

4)Betty Nichols, born 4 April 1906
She married (1) HARLEY RHYNES on 17 Oct 1923 in Newton County.
Known children are:
1. Tressie Rhynes
2. Lessie Rhynes
3. Etole Rhynes
4. Harley Rhynes
Harley Rhynes is buried in McCarty Cemetery, Coalgate County, Oklahoma
5. Emma J Rhynes
6. Wrenda Rhynes
Betty Nichols Rhynes married (2)BUD SHATSWELL on unknown date and place

5)Truman Nichols, born Oct 1908
He married DEXTER WINSTEAD on 31 May 1930 in Newton County.

6)William Bailey Nichols, born 16 June 1910.
He married NIMA ELIZABETH HILL on 25 Jan 1937. Understand he moved
to Coalgate, Oklahoma. He died 3 April 1989.

7) Frances Nichols, born 30 Nov 1913. She married LOU EWING on
4 july 1930.

8)Oscar Nichols, born ca 1914. No further information.

9)Ruth Nichols, born 24 June 1916.
She married (1) RAY EWING on 28 May 1933 in Newton County.
She married (2) CLARENCE STOTT on unknown date.
Ruth died on 15 Feb 1993 at Alameda, California and is buried in
Chapel of Chimes Cemetery at Hayward, California.
She was survived by two sons and a daughter:
i: Stanley Ewing of Morrillton, Arkansas
ii: Nelson Ewing of Madera, California
iii: Vonita Ewing Cheatham of San Leandro, California.

10)Infant son David Nichols. Born 1 Jan 1920. He died on 19 Jan
1920 and is buried in Hasty Cemetery in Newton County.
Mary Florence Starr Nichols died 6 Jan 1920, a few days after
giving birth to baby Dave Nichols. The baby also died on 19 Jan 1920

David Vestor Nichols later married (2)CATHERINE "KATY"SUTTON SHATSWELL
on 28 Aug 1930 in Newton County, Arkansas.
No children from his second marriage.

vi: Lucy G Starr
Born Jan 1878 (tombstone date 1Jan1880)in Arkansas.
She married WILLIAM ASBURY YOUNG on 26 July 1903 in Newton County,
Arkansas.
William was son of Alvin Young and Mary Henderson.
William and Lucy's Children:

3)+ Mary Edna Young, born 1908
4)+ Edith Young, born 1909

5)Myrtle L Young, born 15 Nov 1911 in Newton County.
She married ALEX JONES on 22 Dec 1928 in Newton County, ARkansas.
Myrtle died 15 Sept 1997 in Byran, Texas and is buried in Moore
Memory Gardens at Arlington, Texas.

6) James Roosevelt Young, born 20 July 1913 in Arkansas.
Jimmy married EDITH SKAGGS. He died on 16 Nov 1965 in Kansas City,
Kansas.

William Asbury Young, born 19 Nov 1874, died 4 June 1951 in Kansas
City, Kansas.
Lucy Starr Young died 8 Jan 1957. They are both buried in Jasper
Cemetery, Newton County, Arkansas.

vii: Ida L Starr
Born Sept 1880 in Newton County. She married FIDELA 'DILL' BRASEL
on 26 April 1903 in Newton County, Arkansas.
Dill Brasel was son of Mathias Brasel and Frances Phillips.
Ida's known children:
1) Gladys Brasel, born 1904
2) Lawrence Brasel
3) Ernie Brasel
4) Jim Brasel
5) Martha Brasel
Ida Starr Brasel died in 1966 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

viii: Marinda F. "Renda" Starr
Born Sept 1882 (9 June 1881?) in Arkansas.
She married L. R."Ranz" LEWIS, age 27, of Wilcockson, on 24 June 1906 in
Newton County, Arkansas.
Marinda died in 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is buried in Haskell,
Oklahoma Cemetery.

ix: Alberta "Bertie" Susan Starr
born 11 Nov 1884 in Arkansas.
She married (1) WILSON CROW on 7 Jan 1906 in Newton County

The Shaddox Cemetery shows Wilson Crow's birthdate as 13 Oct 1881
and his death date as 25 July 1902?? (he was married in 1906).
Wilson Crow was killed in a logging accident in Boone County,
Arkansas.
They had one son: Earl Guy Crow>

Alberta "Bertie" Starr Crow married (2) LEVI HERMAN HUDDDELSTON in
1912 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Susan Bertie Starr Crow Huddelston died on 9 Sept 1951 in Maud,
Oklahoma .She is buried in Resthave Memorial Park at Shawnee,
Oklahoma.

x: John M Starr
Born Jan 1886 in Arkansas. He fell from a train in Arizona.
He is buried in Haskell, Muskogee County, Oklahoma.

xii: Ira (Isaac?) Sidney Starr
Born 19 June 1889 in Arkansas.
He married RESSIE JANE HENDERSON on 6 Aug 1907 in Newton County.

Sidney Starr died in 1967 and is buried in Bartlesville, Oklahoma

Sarah Agee Starr died 17 Nov 1939 in Haskell, Oklahoma and is
buried in Haskell Cemetery, Block 4, Lot 20, Plot 7.
She was 93 years, 9 months and 7 days old at her death.
Date of funeral was 18 Nov 1939 on a Saturday at 2:30 P.M.
at Church of Christ Church in Haskell, Oklahoma
Clergyman was Cleve Hamilton
Cause of death: Mitral insufficiency.
Certifying physician: S. G. Hamm
