Wondered why SIMON JONES did not serve in the Civil War.
And wondered why son David Jones lived with his parents and did not
marry.
Found that Simon Jones had filed for monies due him by the Southern
Claims Commission.
Sent for the file and found that Simon Jones had one leg missing.
In these papers, it was stated that the Union and Confederate soldiers
did not bother him, probably due to his missing leg.
He was friendly to both Union and Confederate soldiers.
Out of the appropriation for "Claims of Loyal Citizens for supplies furnished during the Rebellion" he was awarded $445.00 for property
and stock taken by the Union Army during the Civil War time.

Mary Polly PAGE Jones died on 6 June 1882.
Simon Jones died on 15 September 1880.
They are buried in Carver Cemetery near Western Grove, Newton County
Arkansas.
