Nathaniel was born 25Feb1855 in Newton County, Arkansas, the son of
James Flud (1820)and Sarah Stevens Hallum.
Louisa Catherine Shatswell was born February 1858 in Arkansas, the
daughter of Thomas Crownshield Shatswell and Elizabeth "Betsy" Peoples.

Know that lots of my information is repetitious but wanted to add
the 1900 Newton County Census,Pleasant Hill Township showing the

The above photo was probably taken as Louisa Catherine was looking
out a screen door. Photo was probably taken with one of the old
"box cameras" and you had to get by the source of light in order for
the picture to turn out. No flash cameras in those days.

Born in Leguire, Oklahoma, Bessie was the daughter of Robert Marion
and Rebecca 'Becky' (Flood) Smith. She married Joshua James 'Shorty'
Sallee in 1924. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She then married John Walter Wells in 1983 and he also preceded her
in death in 1987. She married George Barham in 1988 and he preceded
her in death on Sept. 21, 2000. She passed away at her home in
McAlester at the age of 93. She was also preceded in death by her
parents, four brothers, John, Elzy, Andrew and Hubert Smith and a
son, Edmond James Sallee.

ROSIE BELL SMITH LAMB
Rosie was the daughter of Robert and Rebecca (Flood) Smith.
She married Perney Ernest Lamb on Sept. 19, 1939, in Ashland.
He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2002. She was a homemaker and a
member of the Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church of McAlester.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Don Lamb and wife, Linda, of
McAlester; daughters, Norma Rogers and husband, Tom, of Shawnee,
Jean Sturgeon and husband, Wayne, of Tahlequah, Barbara Sturgeon and
husband, Gene, of Coweta, Wanda Graham and husband, Ronnie,of
Winnsboro,Texas, and Debbie Feehan and husband, Terry, of McAlester.
Also, 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; five great-great-
grandchildren and other family and friends. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Perney Lamb; son, William E. Lamb; parents, Robert
and Rebecca Smith, and numerous brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Free Will
Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Lungstrum officiating. Burial will
be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral
arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home
of McAlester. Pallbearers will be her grandson, Ernie Sturgeon,
Steve Sturgeon, Dewayne Sturgeon, Ronald Sturgeon, Matt Graham,
Shane Lamb, Richard Lamb and Bruce McPherson.

Born in Ashland, he was the son of Robert M. and Rebecca Angeline
(Flood) Smith. He married Rita Marie Farley on July 2, 1971, in
McAlester. He worked for the city of McAlester in the parks and
recreation department and as a street sweeper for 20 years and in
1971 earned a safe driving award. He was a resident of Stigler and
died at the age of 67 at his home. He was preceded in death by his
parents, a son, Terry James Amos, a daughter, Sandy Amos, a sister,
Laverene Elzie and three brothers, Elzie, John and Andrew Smith.

Funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Robert Marion Smith,
76, of 824 E. Seminole, who died Monday in a local hospital after an
extended illness.
Services were at the Freewill Baptist Church with
Rev. Harold Rains and Rev. Joe Zummer officiating.
Burial was in the Ashland Cemetery under the direction of
Chaney's Funeral Home.
Smith was born in Newton County, Ark., Feb. 12, 1887.
He married the former Rebecca Flood Feb. 18, 1906 at Jasper, Arkansas
He was a retired farmer and lived most of his life in the Indianola
and Ashland areas.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Smith; four sons, John of
Oklahoma City, Andrew of McAlester, Floyd Smith of Coalgate, and
Hubert of Alderson; four daughters, Mrs. Bessie Sallee,
Mrs. Rosie Lamb, and Mrs. Dorothy Glass, all of McAlester, and
Mrs. Sara Glass of Krebs; a brother, John Smith of McAlester;
41 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal,
the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.

The family drifted apart early--the 8 children were never together at
one time.Floyd had gone to California before Elta was born.
Some of the brothers and sisters were apart more than 20 years.
